Much has been written on the meanings and purposes of dreams. Since the first dreamer awoke, pondering the meaning of their visions, mankind has been fascinated with dreams. We've been looking to our dreams for clues about our destiny since the dawn of time. It was approximately 4000 BC that the first written dreams were discovered. The first texts on dreams are mostly religious and spiritual books.

A third of a person's life is spent sleeping. Our dreams are an important aspect of who we are, but they are frequently overlooked. We can gain insight and understanding about our personal life through dreams. They will assist us in comprehending our past, present, and future. All we have to do now is pay attention to and understand our dreams.

A message for the future might be found in dreams.

There are various types of dreams that we have. Often, the imagery in our dreams is based on our most pressing thoughts and/or personal experiences. Our dreams, on the other hand, can be unique at times. If we let them, our dreams can communicate with us. All we have to do now is listen.

There are two types of prophetic dreams, in my opinion.

Those that come from our "deeper" self, who is far more aware of certain things than we are on a conscious level, and those that may have originated from a "outside" source.

Here's an example from one of my own dreams:

I had a death dream. The only thing I recall from the dream was seeing a hand laying in gravels. The ring on the hand was the most noticeable feature. It was my ring, after all. Without a doubt, I recognized it. Despite the fact that this was the only image I remembered from the nightmare, I knew it was about a death. When I awoke, I could clearly feel it. I had almost forgotten about the dream's events, but the feelings were still fresh in my mind.

The ring was an Army Boot Camp ring, which was meant to seem like a class ring. I never wore it again after having the dream. I eventually sold it to a friend who had gone to the same boot camp as me. I got a call a few years later. My friend had been assassinated. He was discovered with the ring on his hand, laying amid the rocks and mud.

When we have a dream that we believe is prophetic or has a "meaning," we are faced with the arduous challenge of figuring out exactly what the dream signifies. Most dream symbols have extremely specific meanings, yet these meanings might differ significantly from one individual to the next. As a result, we shouldn't put too much faith in meanings found in Dream Symbol Dictionaries.

We must gain a better and deeper awareness of ourselves in order to comprehend the meaning of the symbols within our own dreams. Because that is how our dreaming mind views things, we must learn what these symbols represent to us.

Anything in your dream can be interpreted as a sign. A snake is an example of a symbol in a dream. To different people, a snake can mean many different things. They can have varied meanings for the same individual at different points in their lives, just like all other dream symbols. You must also consider the symbol in the context in which it appears. What additional symbols did you see in your dream?

Creating your own dream symbol dictionary is the greatest method to obtain a deeper knowledge of what your dream symbols represent to you. Keep a dream notebook as detailed as possible. Not only should you write down a narrative of what happened, but you should also write down your sentiments and emotions. You'll notice parallels between your dreams and your life as you continue to write in your notebook and reread prior entries. Gradually, you'll be able to decipher what the symbols in your dreams are trying to tell you.
