Graha BNPB Jakarta October 16, 2020 - The public already knows 3M's behavior, namely wearing masks, maintaining distance from crowds, and washing hands with soap in running water.

However, how knowledgeable about health protocols by complying with and implementing behaviors for 3M in this era of the COVID-19 pandemic in everyday life, apparently, is still a common homework.

This was stated by the Mayor of South Tangerang Airin Rachmi Diany in the talkshow "Launching of Guidelines for Changing Behavior in Handling COVID-19" at the Media Center for the COVID-19 Task Force at Graha BNPB Jakarta on Friday (16/10) afternoon.

Mayor Airin shared his experience of seven months leading the community in a pandemic situation. Public discipline in implementing the health protocol should be a necessity no longer an obligation because of a statutory order.

"If it becomes a necessity, whether there are police and soldiers, people will still wear masks. Not because there is a raid on new masks," said Mayor Airin who was the first person to receive the book "Guidelines for Changing Behavior in Handling COVID-19" published by This COVID-19 Handling Task Force.

Mayor Airin explained that the community already knows 3M and what it is like to adapt to a new habit. But how to carry out the knowledge of health protocols as these needs and habits needs to be done. And this, said Mayor Airin, becomes our big task together in the field so that people change their behavior by being accustomed to implementing health protocols.

"This is homework (homework) in the field so that people can get used to it. Hopefully this book will make it easier for people to apply this new habit," said Mayor Airin, who that afternoon wore a long-sleeved white shirt combined with a work vest.

Head of the East Java Province COVID-19 Handling Task Force Dr. dr. Joni Wahyuhadi, Sp.BS said that his party conducted a survey for four months during the pandemic. As a result, public knowledge about COVID-19 is sufficient, good behavior, but implementation is not always good.

Changes in behavior towards compliance with health protocols, said dr. Joni through Zoom, it's not enough just to know and understand.

"So the health protocol is enforced by involving the police and the army to carry out the justisi operation," said Dr. Joni from the East Java Governor's Office in Surabaya.

Deputy for Prevention of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Lilik Kurniawan said that this book is awaited by the public as a common reference in implementing behavior change during a pandemic.

Lilik explained that from March to October 2020 there were many different changes that confused the public. Community organizations and a number of institutions have produced their own reference books with a slightly different understanding. As a result, when the socialization process the community becomes confused.

"So this book is what we have been waiting for as a reference for all of us from Sabang to Merauke, including us at BNPB," said Lilik through the zoom application.

Head of the Behavior Change Division of the COVID-19 Handling Task Force, Dr. Sonny Hari B. Harmadi, as the team compiling the book "Guidelines for Changing Behavior for Handling COVID-19", told of the differences in perceptions that emerged when discussing coping strategies with a team of experts. He imagines the same differences will also be experienced by society. In order to avoid that, Sonny continued that this behavior change guidebook is here to equalize perceptions.

"That's why we have to equalize our perceptions, especially for policy makers. We conclude that we need to compile a standard Behavior guidebook that applies to all," said Dr. Sonny.

Dr. Sonny explained briefly that the contents of this pocket book contained changes in behavior. What is the impact and conditions. This book involves experts from various disciplines such as health experts, sociologists, anthropologists, and linguists.

Furthermore, Dr. Sonny explained the involvement of linguists in this book so that the message conveyed was easily accepted by the public.

"However, language becomes important as a medium of communication because people will understand using the right language," explained Dr. Sonny.
