People were criticizing Xhaka so much but apart from the first 20 mins where everyone was misplacing passes, xhaka was the only person in the team trying to get us forward and defending. Xhaka was the only one who played well. But then that's what I feel.
Ceballos had an off game. He kept running with the ball only to pass it back and only 1-2 times he won the ball back which was brilliant and not to forget the assist. Credit where it's due but to Xhaka had an off game is mad. Xhaka was the only one moving the ball from defense to attack. Xhaka is not a defensive midfielder. He is better at moving the ball forward. When elneny plays, he defends which is why Xhaka can go forward and plays better. Like the Fulham game. Ceballos was so average except the block in the box and assist and to Xhaka just watch 1 game of arsenal without him and you will notice how important he is.
Kolasinac is painful to watch not one forward pass and falls on his arse in the final third. It highlights why we need Partey to stabilise our midfield and Aouar to create because we couldn’t get through their 12 man defense. We don’t win this game without saka , absolute masterclass finding the space for the 2nd goal
I think we missed Pepe. I think we missed him today, he has the pace and aggression. He isn't afraid to try things and be creative, he creates so many chances. He isn't perfect but he's one of our better-attacking players. We’re not gonna be playing our best football every game nevertheless this was poor. I’m relieved we got over the kind and my goodness the squad needs more steel and creativity in the midfield. Lucky lucky win.
