Greenhouse Effect
(a) What is a greenhouse effect?
(b) What are the causes of greenhouse effect?
(c) What is its effect and who are affected?
(d) What are the measures you prefer to stop it?
Greenhouse effect is the gradual warming of air surrounding the earth as a result of heat being trapped by environment pollution. In short, the rise in atmospheric temperature is known as the greenhouse effect, Greenhouse effect is a dangerous reactive type of effect that influences our nature violently. There are many causes of greenhouse effects. The deforestation and burning down of the tropical forests, rapid growth of unplanned industries, overpopulation, pollution, the use of CFCs, the use of detergents, increase of temperature etc. are the causative actors of greenhouse effect.
Moreover, we are using oil, gas and coal for running cars, buses, trains, planes, power stations and so on. These fuels have carbon in them. As a result, the amounts of carbon dioxide are increasing. This carbon and other gases trap the heat in the atmosphere and do not allow the earth to cool down. It eventually causes greenhouse effect. This is catastrophically reducing mankind's ability to grow food, destroying or severally damaging wildlife and wilderness, raising sea-levels and thereby flooding coastal areas and farmland. The weather pattern is changing.
Rainfall pattern has also disturbed which causes drought in some areas and flooding in other areas. The alarming news is that the polar ice caps and glaciers are melting continuously. It is causing loss of habitat near to the poles and polar bears have greatly endangered. Wild animals living in the forest are endangered because of their habitat loss due to deforestation. Scientists have already given warning that some parts of coastal countries including Bangladesh may go under water due to greenhouse (effect. In order to protect ourselves from its catastrophic impact and to prevent greenhouse effect.
we should take some effective measures. Therefore, deliberate cutting down of forests must be stopped. Tree plantation programme should be adopted soon. Steps should be taken to put an end to the causes and sources of emitting carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
