There are more than one reasons to visit Ladakh that is home to arid mountains,picturesque gompas,meditational mani walls,multi-hued flags and now highest motorable road in the world.Yes,you read it right!

Located at an elevation of 2759-7672 meters above sea level,Ladakh is blessed with incredible topography that comprises of hilly terrains,high altitude peaks and the lush green grasslands.Recently this place got the highest motorable road in India,smashing the previous record held un Bolivia.Isn't this phenomenal?

• The 52km long tarmac road is at an incredible height of 19,300 feet and it passes through Umlingla pass in eastern Ladakh,making it the highest motorable road in the world.

• This surpasses Bolivia's record of a road that connects to the Uturuncu volcano at 18,953 feet.

• The ministry revealed that this road has a higher altitude than the base camps of even Mount Everest as the South Base camp in Nepal is located 17,598 feet high and Tibet's North Base camp at 16,900 feet.

Dras,Ladakh

Looking for an adventure with an added element of danger,We made our way to discover the spectacular beauty and the danger of the picturesque Dras located in the Kargil district of Ladakh.Known as the'Gateway of Ladakh'.

Dras is the second coldest inhabited region on the planet.Located at 10,597 feet above sea level,the air is always chilly añd temperature often drops to -45 degree celcius.The lowest recorded temperature here is -60°C.Apart from contending with hypothermia,visitors have to also be cautious of military incursions in the area.Its hard to resist the mysterious allure of this little mounatin village with its frosty temperatures,which makes it mysteriously appealing to explore.

Khardung La Pass

Famously known as the gateway to the Nubra and Shyok valleys in the Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir.It is also one of the highest motorable pass in the world.It is filled with tourists crossing over from Leh and stopping long enough to click some photographs.

Adventure bikers from all parts of our country and across the world visit this mounatin pass on their motorcycles for an adventure soaked experience.Khardung La Pass is positioned on the Ladakh range,which is 40km from Leh at an altitude of 18,379 feet(5602m)
