Rare is the man who has never heard of Michael Jordan. The ‘B’ of basketball doesn’t even make sense but his fans are no less numerous (like me). But you will be surprised to know that Michael also has a 'lifelong failure', in his words, 'I missed 9000 shots in my career, lost in 300 games, the team relied on me to take winning shots 28 times but I failed. I have failed again and again, maybe that is why I have succeeded. ' In 1987, Michael Laney High School student varsity basketball team was announced. By then everyone knew about his talent, he was standing on the verge of getting a chance in the team and he was eagerly waiting. While it was seen that his name is not in the list, he has been asked to be more mature by playing in the junior varsity team!
No one doubted Michael's talent but the reason for not taking him to the team was different. The varsity team then had 11 seniors and 3 junior players who were already part of the team, with only 1 junior player left in the space, the choice was Michael Jordan and one of his friend Leroy Smith. Michael's height was only 5'10 "while his friend's height was 8'7". We all know how important height is in basketball, so Michael didn't get the chance!
Michael was only 15 at the time, saw the list in disbelief, returned to the room with a broken chest and closed the door, just crying, and kept crying. This time he haughtily decided to give up the game, after which his mother brought him back after much persuasion.
The next part is important. Michael came back as a champion, joined the junior varsity team and made the most of his failures and frustrations towards success.
The human brain is made in such a way that we can forget bad times very quickly, but those who are great use failure in a different way, they keep pushing themselves higher and higher, thinking that it is hard to lose in bad times. In Michael’s words, “Whenever I was working out and got tired and figured I ought to stop, I’d close my eyes and see that list in the locker room without my name on it, and that usually got me going again.”
This quality of Michael has taken him from the varsity team to the state team then to the final place of NBA success, Michael Jordan, the owner of numerous records, is considered as the most decorated player in the history of NBA. Not only this, with the help of basketball he has been able to make a name for himself in the world.
Michael Jordan is synonymous with champion, a unique example of how to come out of failure and be successful.
