On August 28, Apple removed the Epic Games profile from the App Store along with games including Fortnite and Infinity Blade. Epic previously launched direct purchases in Fortnite, bypassing Apple and Google commissions, and went to court after removing the game from stores.
Once your account is deleted, Epic Games cannot add or update new games and apps on iOS and macOS, and users cannot download games or make in-app purchases with Apple Pay.
Apple noted that the court advised Epic Games to abide by App Store rules and guidelines - "just as they followed them prior to setting a precedent," but Epic refused to do so.
Therefore, the company was forced to delete the Epic Games account in accordance with the rules of the App Store. Epic's second account to support the Unreal Engine was not deleted, but was banned from being blocked at the Epic and Apple court hearings on August 25.
Instead of (adhering to the rules), Epic continually sends Fortnite updates that violate App Store policies. This is unfair to all other developers in the App Store and keeps users at the center of their struggle. We hope to be able to work together in the future, but unfortunately this is not possible now.
from Apple statement
Epic CEO Tim Sweeney said he disagreed with Apple's wording - in his opinion, the company tried to submit a new version of Fortnite to the App Store, but did not spam Apple with them. In new versions of the game, Epic has still not abandoned in-app purchases, bypassing Apple's fees.
