Today I'm talking about blood donation.

Magenta + white + yellow = red

Under normal circumstances it is nothing more than a mere color to us. But when this red color flows through our body in a liquid form, we call it blood.

Some important information about this blood:

Blood donation began in 1901 after the Austrian Carl Landsteiner discovered different blood groups.

The first blood bank was introduced during the First World War by Osheld Hope Robertson, an American Army officer.

Some tests are also done to see if the blood donor is suitable for blood donation.

  • Anemia

  • Jaundice

  • Pulse

  • Blood pressure

  • Body temperature

  • Weight

These are seen in all cases. Apart from this, the following tests are also done if necessary without screening.

  • Hemoglobin

  • Blood sugar or blood sugar levels

  • Serum creatinine

  • ECG

  • Pregnancy test

How many days after the blood can be given?

How many days an adult healthy person (minimum age 18) can donate blood depends on his physical condition as well as the law of the land. In the United States, for example, blood can be donated after at least eight weeks (56 days). In Bangladesh, it is considered safe to donate blood every three months.

How much blood can be given?

The body usually has five to six liters of blood. At the time of blood donation, we usually donate 400 to 450 ml of blood. The amount of liquid part of the blood taken, the liquid part becomes the same again in just 24 hours.

Special caution
