History

Let us know some information about the history of the day. In 1960, the constitution of the World Tourism Organization was passed. Ten years later, on September 27, 1960, the constitution came into force. The member states of the World Tourism Organization have been celebrating this day officially since the day the constitution came into force.

In addition, after the end of World War II, the expansion of various economic activities resulted in the expansion of the global tourism business.

In this situation, various organizations, individuals and consumers related to tourism formed the International Travel Organization or IUTO. World Tourism Day has been celebrated since 1980 under the direct supervision of the World Tourism Organization under the auspices of the United Nations.

World Tourism Day is celebrated in a grand manner in Bangladesh every year. Last year in 2017, the theme of the day in Bangladesh was "Tourism and Digital Transformation".
