About half of the population of our country is women. In the world, they not only play the role of bride, mother and daughter, but in education, initiation, knowledge and glory, women and men are advancing with equal qualifications along with men.

Women have played an important role in the development of the country from time immemorial. When history is revealed, it can be seen that majestic women like Sultana Razia, Pritilata Waddedar, Mother Teresa, Sarojini Naidu, Begum Rokeya, poet Sufia Kamal have made outstanding and glorious contribution in national defense, nation building and nation development. The cursed woman of that day wants to get out of the confines of the house and establish herself today by maintaining her responsibilities and duties. Women also want to participate in the huge feast of education with men.

Begum Rokeya Shakhawat Hossain

Women have stepped on the path of victory today. Bengali women were neglected, humiliated and disenfranchised in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Women were very backward at every level of society. In a patriarchal society, the humanity of women was trampled underfoot. Being victims of patriarchal mentality, they lag far behind in education, initiation and excellence of thinking.

That is why, realizing the importance of women's education, Napoleon Bonaparte said, "Give me an educated mother, I will give you an educated nation."

At present, with the passage of time, the position and mentality of women has changed drastically. Without confining themselves to the four walls of the house, they are committed to the development of the country and the nation today. Their free movement at all levels of the country's development work is noticeable. Avoiding the long-standing maiden attitude, they seem to have woken up today with new vigor.

The more advanced a country is in education, the more developed and prosperous it is. When we look at the developed countries of the world, we see that they have given priority to women in all spheres of their country. Although the image of women's society in our country has changed a bit due to the efforts of Begum Rokeya, we all have to come forward by accelerating the continuity of change.

Although women have been neglected and left behind in the patriarchal society for a long time, their presence can be noticed in almost all cases at present. At every level in education they are located alongside the boys. The contribution of women in literature and research is also commendable. Therefore, if women society can be built efficiently and diligently through real education with the spirit of cooperation, then they will be able to play a significant role in nation building. At present men as well as women are participating in all economic activities to make Bangladesh economically strong. As their field of role grows day by day, they are enjoying a busy life at home and abroad. Starting from the office court, they are revolving day by day in the life cycle of Gyan Manisha and Karmashakti. Therefore, reciting the essential role of women, the poet Kazi Nazrul Islam wrote, "Whatever great creation in the world is eternally beneficial, half of it is done by women, half by men."

The field that plays an important role in maintaining the sovereignty of a country and maintaining peace and order within the country is the military field of the country. At present, in our country, women are proudly walking in the military field. They are also playing an important role as members of the internal disciplinary force. Like other countries in the world, women are participating in politics in our country. Our Prime Minister, Speaker, and Leader of the Opposition is also a woman. The country, nation and society are moving forward with their cooperation. They are protesting in the streets for the right to politics. Reviewing the history, it can be seen that women made heroic contributions during the language movement of '52, participation in the processions of '89 and '69 and the great liberation war.

Development cannot be achieved by ignoring women in national life. Nazrul seems to be successful in seeing men as well as women working in all walks of life today. That ideal woman Rokeya is successful. The narrow perspective of the past on women's education has changed a lot today. Gender inequality or classification has decreased a lot. The role of women in the formation of an ideal nation is immense. But for various reasons, they are unable to play a role in nation building. Patriarchal mentality, social stigma and superstition are the main obstacles to women's self-development. Because of prejudice, they do not dare to express their views. The progress of the country and the nation will be possible only if women walk shoulder to shoulder with men in all fields to manage their situation.

In the development of women's society, women's walk from the shackled life of the kitchen to the streets today. At present women are not only interested in being confined to the four walls of the house. With the change, the position and mentality of women has also changed. It can be seen that in the last 20 years, there has been a radical change in the way women take up occupations. The role that women have played in nation building and social service through their revolutionary activities against the British today is respected by the entire nation. Pritilata, Kalpana Dutt, Leela Nag, Asha Lata Sen, Manoram Basu, Begum Rokeya, Begum Shamsunnahar Mahmud Zia Kamal and other majestic women have been the companions of men in various movements and struggles. . We now see the fruits of their contribution to the formation of the country and the nation in different spheres of society.

Our women's society in Bangladesh today is making a living by sewing clothes, embroidering, making various types of bamboo and cane materials to support the family. On the one hand, just as Harleen is involved in women's careers, on the other hand, women are signing her success in all kinds of professions. From pilot to writer, doctor, modeling, engineer, judge, magistrate, lawyer, inspector, policeman, army, teacher, filmmaker, journalist, businessman, administrator, etc., there is no profession where women have not declared their dignified presence. There are two women leading the two main political parties in Bangladesh and they have been serving as the head of government since 1991 with the mandate of the people. So it can be said here that he rules the world by swinging his hand. So today there is no chance to look down on women.

Basically, the natural differences between men and women are normal. Today, women have gained confidence and activity. Today, this success is due to the long-term self-confidence and struggle of women. Argina Khatun, abandoned by her husband in the village. All these helpless women have established themselves in today's society by doing business with little capital. The contribution of women in the formation of the country and society is no longer hidden from the public eye. At present, the victory song of women's awakening is being announced everywhere.

Society is dynamic. That is why the society is moving forward. And at this time women have to be used as human resources. Then it will be possible to implement real development and empowerment of women. The need to involve women in the development and production process is recognized in all countries of the world. Therefore, the issue should not only be considered at the national level but should be considered all over the world. The United Nations is committed to advancing the global women's development and empowerment process. The United Nations has been emphasizing the issue of women's dignity and rights since the 1970s. প্রক্র This process started with the declaration of 1975 as the World Year of Women and the observance in 1975.

.

The purpose of celebrating Women's Decade was to promote women's development, establish women's rights in the family and society, increase women's empowerment and dignity in the workplace, and change the overall situation, including women's education and health worldwide.

.

The first World Conference on Women was held in Mexico in 1985 with the support of the United Nations. The second, third and fourth world women's conferences were held in Copenhagen in 1980, the Women's Conference in 1975 and in Beijing in 1995, respectively.

National Women's Development Policy:

The National Women's Development Policy was announced on March 7, 1997. A clear idea of the National Women's Development Policy is needed to make this policy a success. Notable among these are the following.

  • Implementation of women's human rights and fundamental freedoms.

  • Administrative empowerment of women.

  • Health and nutrition

  • Primary education for women

If this step is taken for the development of women's society, the development of the country is possible along with the development of women.
