Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer deaths in women worldwide. The number of people suffering from cancer is increasing day by day. Because not all women with breast cancer are properly aware of the symptoms of breast cancer, reluctance to go to the doctor for breast problems, neglect of themselves and family members, including religious obsessions, can lead their disease from a preventable stage to a fatal stage. Due to untimely treatment, one has to wait for death. According to a statistic, about 22,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Bangladesh alone. About 60 percent of them, i.e. about 15,000 women died due to lack of treatment.


Breast cancer is a common health problem. Breast cancer is the second most common cancer among women. However, it is foolish to think that only women are affected by this cancer. It can affect both men and women, but it is more common in women. One in five men and one in six women are at risk of developing cancer. According to a survey, by the end of 2018, a total of 1 crore 81 lakh people in the world will be affected by cancer. Of which 98 lakh people will die. Asian countries account for half of all deaths in the world. Where Bangladesh is at the top of many countries in the list.

According to a recent report by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), 1 lakh 50 thousand 81 people may be newly diagnosed with cancer in Bangladesh in 2018. Of these, the number of males will be about 62,615 and the number of females may be 6,006. The list is more prone to cancers of the mouth, lungs, breasts and cervix. According to the report, about 1 lakh 8 thousand people will die of cancer in Bangladesh by the end of 2017. Of these, the risk of developing cervical and gall bladder cancer is considerable. In this case, women are most at risk of breast cancer. Breast cancer is also on the rise among women in Bangladesh. Therefore, the researchers see the quality of life as a consideration.

In this regard, the National Cancer Research Institute, Associate Professor. Habibullah Talukder (Raskin) said, ‘The main reason for the increase in the rate of cancer among women is disorderly living. In addition, a large number of women in the country drink jorda, sadapata or similar tobacco products.

"Breastfeeding, irregular or fatty foods are also a major cause of cancer," she said.

Breast cancer is now a common cause of panic among women in most parts of the world, including the Western world. But the hope is that we can easily diagnose and treat it at the right time. Why do we have breast cancer today? And I will know about its treatment.
