Among the young people in the country, yaba is the most attractive for various reasons, its easy carrying capacity, easy availability, small and attractive size, are considered as the reasons.

Internationally, the international trafficking ring has been using Bangladesh as a corridor for drug smuggling since the fifties. Two issues prevailed among the drug traffickers behind choosing Bangladesh as a drug trafficking corridor. The first is that the major drug producing regions of the world such as Golden Triangle, Golden Crescent and Golden Wage are neighboring Bangladesh. Moreover, Bangladesh has easy communication system. The second reason is that Bangladesh has long been free from the production and widespread use of narcotics, leaving the functions of the International Narcotics Control Board and beyond their suspicions.
