I don’t know is it only me or it happens to everyone that after having my lunch and dinner I get cravings for something sweet. And the best thing I can think of are donuts at that time. They are perfect bakery product which are served with tea and obviously you can have them without tea as well. They are perfect lunch for school going kids as well. You can just put them in their lunch boxes and they are good to go!
If you know how to make them at home, you don’t have to go to market or send your younger brother to get some and waste money over them. Making them at home saves you from wasting your money again and again. The recipe that I am going to share today will help you make at least 13 to 14 donuts at a time so you can understand how you can save money from getting wasted.
So let’s get started with my yummy Donuts recipe…
Ingredients Requires:
Milk (1 cup)
Sugar (2 Tablespoons)
Instant Yeast (1 Tablespoon)
Egg
Salt (Half teaspoon)
All purpose Flour ( 2 and half cup)
Butter (2 Tablespoons)
Oil for frying donuts
Baking Chocolate
Sprinkles
Dough Preparation:
In order to prepare dough, first of all take one cup of milk and add 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1 tablespoon of instant yeast in it and mix them. Leave it for 5 to 10 minutes to make sure that yeast is functional. If the yeast gets a little puffy it is an indicator that yeast is working.
Then add one egg and half teaspoon of salt in it and mix. Once everything is mixed properly, now its time to add two and half cups of all purpose flour in it. At first, mix it using spoon, otherwise if you use hands in the start , dough will stick to your hands and everything will get messy. Now start kneading the dough and when it reaches the form shown in the picture below add two tablespoons of melted butter.
Now grease a bowl three times the size of this dough and put the dough in that bowl. The reason for using bigger bowl is that dough will rise and in increase in size. Cover the bowl and leave it for atleast two hours.
Tips 1: Do not use chilled milk for making dough always use lukewarm milk.
Tip 2: Two tablespoons of sugar is used for chocolate donuts, so for simple chocolate less donuts use four tablespoons of sugar.
Tip 3: In winters, dough takes more than 2 hours to rise so give it at-least 4 hours.
After two hours, take out the raised dough and use a little dry flour so that it doesn’t stick. Start flattening it using a rolling pin. Don’t flatten it too much. Now take a round cup or glass or any thing, place it over flattened dough and apply pressure such that dough is cut in a circle.
Then take a small round bottle cap and place it in the center of already cut circle and again apply pressure to make whole. Repeat this process multiple times all over the flattened dough until multiple donuts are ready. Keep the donuts shaped dough for 20 to 30 minutes aside for the purpose of dough rising! It will help donuts rise a bit more and become soft.
Now take oil in a frying pan and pre-heat it at low to medium flame. Gently pick donuts one by one and put them in the frying pan. After 1 minutes flip the sides. When they attain golden colour they are ready. Dish them out.
Chocolate Syrup:
For preparing chocolate syrup, take one fourth cup of milk and heat it at medium flame. Now add three small chunks of chocolate in it. I use Baker’s Choice Baking Chocolate but you can use any Baking chocolate you want. You can also use Dairy milk Chocolate. When the chocolate melts completely and syrup becomes thick enough turn the flame off.
Coating of Donuts:
Take each donut one by one and invert it and dip it half into the chocolate syrup, in this way upper half of every donut will get coated. At the end sprinkle the multicoloured sprinkles to make them look more eye catching and delicious.
Our fresh, soft and super yummy donuts are ready. Enjoy!!!
