Life of poor people

A person who is considered to be "poor"generally lacks the resources to buy food that will keep him and his family members alive as well as the appropriate clothing and a place to call home. We are not worried about the extremely poor according to E.M. Foster. Only the statistician or the poet may approach them because they are unthinkable.

These are the people whose life expectancy is shorter than that of the rest of the population and who lack access to a healthy diet, adequate shelter or both. Their home is frequently too crowded.

Many of them doze off under the stars on park benches, sidewalks footpaths, or Subway platforms. In some places, they occasionally freeze to death during extremely cold winters. They reside in slums in urban areas and live in small, mud thatched huts in rural areas that lack power, running water, latrines, and basic amenities. Therefore, regardless of whether society acknowledge their poverty or not, such individuals must be defined as impoverished.

The majority of impoverished either don't have work or have low-paying jobs. Some are unable to work due to illness or disability, and others who are elderly or widowed live alone and are unable to make enough money to support themselves and their children, if any. Poor people are ineligible for loans for self-employment.

They are unable to look for work even when it is available. Additionally, the majority of their purchases cost more. If they have any income at all, it is usually spent on food. Additionally, the goods people buy from neighbourhood grocery store are frequently of poor quality, contaminated, stale and lacking in any nutritional value.

When a family member who is responsible for providing income loses their work, even temporarily, or passes away, the situation becomes even more dire. The lack of assets among the impoverished makes them vulnerable to their precarious financial status collapsing. As a result, they live hand to mouth throughout these times.

Over time, poverty's characteristics have changed significantly. The people who are considered poor today are very different from those who were in the past. People who lived in villages in the 19th century and even more than half of the 20th century were considered to be poor because they relied primarily on agriculture for their livelihood and had very small mud-thatched huts.In India, about 70% of the population lives in villages.

Technology has altered how poverty is seen. People are moving in large numbers from rural to Urban regions in pursuit of work. Many people have been compelled to leave villages because of the usage of electricity, tractors, and other agricultural machinery, as well as the enhanced hybrid seeds and cultivation techniques.

A few have become wealthy as a result of this technology shift, whereas many others have become poor. By eliminating their employment and replacing them with new, better-paying once, technology frequently displaces workers.

Both rural and urban employees experience this. The loss of jobs due to technological progress is thus just one and a very significant factor in the impoverished. In addition to eliminating numerous employment, the use of computers in banks, railroads, colleges, schools, and many other public and private sector institutions has also reduced job chances. These days, the employment market offers less and fewer alternatives for those without a technical background.
