How to understand the gasline hole, what to do to solve
Residents of the capital Basabo said. Selim Mia could smell gas for a few days as he entered the house. However, he did not take it into account. He was alerted after worshipers were killed in an explosion at a mosque in Narayanganj (September 4). Last Monday (September 6) the local Titas contacted the gas office.
The Titas office told Selim Mia that they do not have an emergency services team at the moment. Will be sent at night. Meanwhile, the anxiety of the people in the building where Selim Mia lives in Madhya Basabo and the surrounding buildings does not end. Stop burning the stove. Finally, a group of Titus arrived at the scene around 9 pm on Monday. After examining the matter, he said that gas was coming out due to leakage or hole in the pipe. But they can't handle it.
This time Selim Mia was in more trouble. According to the people of Titas, there is a part on the ground which is known as Riser. So far, if there is any problem, it is repaired by Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company. But if there is any kind of defect including the hole after the riser, then it has to be repaired by the customer at his own responsibility. The hole in the gas pipeline in the building where Selim Mia lives is after the riser, so it has to be repaired under their supervision. However, before Titus Gas left, he turned off the riser and disconnected the gas so that no accidents could occur. Later, Selim Miara fixed the gas line under his supervision.
Gas is distributed in 12 districts of the country including Dhaka, Narayanganj, Munshiganj, Narsingdi, Gazipur and Mymensingh. Titus has about 27 lakh subscribers in these 12 districts. Most of these customers do not know what to do if there is a problem with the use of pipeline or gas, where to call. Titus Gas also has no big publicity campaign about this.
Titas Gas supplies gas to Dhaka, Narayanganj, Munshiganj, Manikganj, Gazipur, Tangail, Mymensingh, Jamalpur, Sherpur, Narsingdi, Netrokona and Kishoreganj districts.
How do you know the gas is coming out
The gas that is supplied to the country's pipelines gives off a faint odor. In addition to leaking the pipeline, gas can come out in various ways. One of them is the gas coming out of the low quality stoves and plastic pipes used in the stove.
Titas Gas officials say the air smells like gas coming out of nowhere. But it is not intense. Many do not even understand it. If the gas comes out through the hole in the pipeline, if there is water, then bubbles can be seen. This also means that the gas is coming out. Apart from this, the pipeline also got drilled in many places.
Officials say there is a whistling sound when large amounts of gas come out. But the amount of gas that comes out when the hole is small in size, it is often difficult to understand. However, if there is any such sign and smell, the customer should immediately call the hotline of Titus. According to them, the hotline is open day and night.
Call 16496 for emergency services
The hotline number 18496 can be called for any information or complaint in the Titas Gas Company area. If you call this number, the service will be available 24 hours a day. 24 'Emergency' teams have been set up to provide emergency services to Dhaka. After the accident at the mosque in Narayanganj, the rate of calling the hotline number of Titas has increased recently. On an average, 300 calls are coming every day in the capital area itself.
Ali Mohammad, managing director of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited. Al-Mamun said in the first light, "We have a central hotline number, where you can call any time of the day or night." There are also separate numbers for regional offices. This information is available on our website. In addition, for the convenience of the customer, we are thinking of going for a bigger campaign.
The pipeline is sitting in the capital at a cost of Tk 1,200 crore
Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited was launched in 1984. Initially, the connection was made in the industrial sector, but in the capital, in October 1966, the residential sector was connected to the residential sector by gas connection to the house of the eminent fiction writer Shawkat Osman. In many areas of Titas Gas, the line is over 50 years old. Gas is being supplied to many areas of Dhaka through these dilapidated pipelines. Titus officials can't even say exactly how low the ground is and where the pipeline is. As a result, underground pipelines are being drilled for the development work of various companies including electricity, telephone and Dhaka WASA.
To overcome this situation, Titus has undertaken a project worth Tk 1,200 crore. Titus has already submitted a proposal for development project (DPP) to Petrobangla. When this project is completed, a digital map of Titas will be made in Dhaka. Besides, gas will be supplied from 123 places. In these places, it will be possible to know automatically where the gas pressure is, and also to know the condition of the pipeline. The project will replace the old 2 to 20 inch old pipeline with a new one.
Titus managing director Ali said. Al-Mamun said the prime minister has already given policy approval to the project. DPP has been deposited in Petrobangla. It will be sent to the ministry soon. When the project is completed, digital technology will be added to the Titas pipeline and gas supply system. The service will be easier.
