Xylaria Ploymorpha commonly known as "Dead Man's Fingers" are special type of fungi called saprobic fungi growing commonly on dead decaying organic matter to meet it's nutrition requirements. During reproductive stage some of their hyphae (filaments) grow upward in cluster and clump form and give the appearance like dead man's hand by clumping up mysteriously and arising from the earth surface. Hence name is commonly given as "Dead Man's Fingers"
