I always like to ponder potential use cases for crypto in the not so distant future.
One of those that I’ve seen buzzing around the digital highway known as the internet, is focused on the creator economy. Self-made creators are all the rage these days, building, selling and endorsing all sorts of content to their audience.
But what if they could control the financial operating system their audience uses for their content too. Think about it, you can control the content, product and the currency which is used to purchase the former two.
Instead of using traditional currencies to fund purchases for their content, they could create their own cryptocurrency which their audience can buy and then use to engage in their creator ecosystem.
You might think that sounds crazy but it’s not impossible.
Cryptocurrencies and really, blockchain technology overall, would allow creators to scale their ecosystem to a new level. Content could be stored on the blockchain for fans to purchase using a creator's own custom made currency.
Of course there’s a good deal of hurdles to overcome before this becomes anywhere near mainstream. Yet, look at how NFT’s blew up for that brief moment this year.
We see many content creators promote crypto for cash, so how long will it be until they figure out that they can build their own currency - Kardashian coin anyone?
The great thing about blockchain technology is its ability to not only disrupt the financial market but also the content creator market as we know it. NFT’s are just the tip of the iceberg in my opinion.
