Age Of Gods - Cool Upcoming Play2Earn Game Yesterday I came across a Brave Ad for a new NFT game that is launching on the Binance Smart Chain network called Age of Gods. I did a little bit of research on it and decided to make a small investment in their in game token because it looked to be a promising new release. In reality, a lot of games that gather investments before they are launched end up flopping or not launching at all, so don't take this as financial advice as it could just as easily be a bad move as a good one. The Game The game appears to be one where you collect NFT cards that are Gods from various mythological origins and have them battle against one another to earn in game tokens. The Gods even battle somehow while you are offline and that will mean increased exposure and chances to make passive income. I am not sure what their game economy will look like as they will likely need a solution on how to address bots like Splinterlands did, but I am a believer that it can be fixed. The game art looks fantastic and they are planning to release an NFT drop on Binance on April 18th and announce a token burn or some type. Additionally, the game is supposed to be released within the next few months, though we will see if that comes to fruition. Similarities To Ragnarok When I first saw the game, I was concerned that it had beaten Ragnarok to the punch because of the fact it involved mythological gods. However, after looking into the gameplay structure I am not so concerned. Ragnarok presents a concept that has not been addressed yet being chess strategy, where Age of Gods is attempting to create something closer to Axie Infinity. I think that it will be ok to have a few different projects working with the concept of mythological gods because they are just wildly interesting. I don't think people will get tired of the concept anytime soon as these characters have been around for thousands of years and we still use them in stories and games. It may suck that you can't say "oh yeah that NFT game with the Gods" and get one answer, but I believe the two can co-exist. We'll see what happens here, I hope we see success for both of these games and I look forward to personally getting invested in both of them. Good luck on whatever you decide to do today! It's Still So Early For DeFi Image Source https://www.business2community.com/cybersecurity/decentralized-finance-defi-in-a-nutshell-02408290 Today I was showing a friend all about PolyCub, Cub Finance and ThorSwap as she was asking about what Decentralized Finance was and what it will end up being in the future. The fact that decentralized finance is still not a concept that the mass public understands is really intriguing to me. Of course it is not wildly unexpected as these are concepts that require a bit of technical knowledge or lived experience, but being in the bubble that is web 3.0 it becomes easy to forget that the vast majority of people are unfamiliar with the systems of the future. The idea that banks can be replaced by community-driven protocols is something that not everyone is able to come to terms with yet. The future is a place where I hope the power and influence is more spread than it currently is under the financial systems by which we operate as a society. I have found from the start that I find DeFi to be a very libertarian concept that I find could be a strong base for financial equity and freedom in the future. Watching different protocols release tokens and do airdrops that have gone to the moon and then came crashing back down made me think that I had missed out on the DeFi boom. However, with the lack of general public knowledge on the ecosystem, I have hope once again that it is relatively early in the process and that the huge things we've seen are actually only the plumbing for what is to come in the future. I just can't imagine that people will continue to be ok with the way the traditional financial system operates, especially as inflation is skyrocketing and people are starting to ask questions. It is my belief that our savings should be at least keeping up with the rate of inflation, if not beating it. The traditional banking system will never allow this to happen because their profit line would be destroyed, but in a DeFi system things that benefit the whales still benefit the minnows. Just wanted to let you all know that if you know what liquidity pools, farming, staking, etc. mean, you are way ahead of the general public. Get excited, things are going to get good in the coming years for those involved in cryptocurrency! Hive-Backed Dollar - Insanity Without Volatility I am just absolutely shocked at seeing a stablecoin being as lucrative as the Hive-Backed Dollar is. With the most recent decisions by the top witnesses on the Hive blockchain, the APR for Hive-Backed Dollars stored in savings is now 20%... That number is astronomical. Of course it isn't the 10000% returns we see when a new protocol is launched, but 20% on a stablecoin that should hold steady around $1 is just unheard of. There are of course risks, it could decouple from the peg if there is enough trading interest that things really swing around, but there are some funding proposals on the blockchain that are seeking to keep that peg and they have a ton of support to do so. The Draw When we are talking about stablecoins, we are usually looking at something that has been created to mirror stability and provide a base for a trading pair. Slowly over the last few years, we have seen stablecoins being offered yield for protocols to use them as liquidity in other trades. Over a period of time, I believe that we will see a shift away from being a base as a trading pair or even from that liquidity incentive and more towards stablecoins becoming the new standard of savings for many people. If that plays out, when you are looking at the competition, the only entity that comes to mind for me is the bank. In the United States, the average interest rate on a savings account is 0.06% a year... So the Hive-Backed Dollar is approximately 19.94% more lucrative per year than the average savings account. Now of course, the banks come with the protection of FDIC and that they are dealing in currency trusted by billions rather than millions. With that being said though, people are growing ever more unhappy with the banking system and the US government (especially from an economic standpoint); we have no idea what the world may look like in 5 years time and what will be trusted as currency. With reported inflation over 8% and true inflation likely much higher in the United States, your savings should be keeping pace with (or beating) that rate. Of course it does not at any traditional financial institution, so we are seeing the effects of inflation hitting the people who are following the rules and working hard and putting money away in the bank. That 0.06% interest is not going to help out when your $20 loses 8%+ of it's spending power each year. High Interest Rates Help The Little Guy There is risk in stablecoins such as the Hive-Backed Dollar because we don't know who will respect it's spending power and that there is not infinite liquidity to sell like there is for the US Dollar. However, these risks should hypothetically be mitigated by time and continued success from cryptocurrency at large and the Hive blockchain in particular. I can't go out and say that the Hive-Backed Dollar will prove to be a fantastic investment, but if the correct dominoes fall into place, 20% interest on a stablecoin is probably the best investment you can make in the cryptocurrency world. There are a lot of questions to be answered still, but keep an eye on this. The Value of Cross-Platform Engagement Well it's days like this that I struggle to find a topic to write about. The markets are in the dumps right now, everyone has written about PolyCub and Cub Finance to the point where there isn't much more to cover (because everyone seems to be a fan and has done some research already). I looked at Splinterlands markets and they are pretty steady minus a few legendary cards regaining some value (i.e. Kron the Undying up $65 in the last two days). As a result of this, I guess what I'll do today is take a look at the value of cross-platform traffic and engagement. What Platforms Do I Use? I personally like to engage on read.cash, Publish0x, Twitter and Instagram along with Hive platforms. I think that it is valuable to look around and get a lot of different types of content rather than becoming overly specialized (though I see the value in doing so if you are an expert in a field or a whale on a platform). When you use more than one platform to spread your message, you are increasing the chances for synergy between them as well as increasing the volume of people who may view your post. A lot of times, platforms also have a different niche focus or style of content, and it is important to develop the ability to communicate your thoughts in numerous ways because we have no idea what the future will look like. What Value Do I See Elsewhere? The first thing that pops into my mind is Tik Tok here. I don't personally use it. I missed the initial wave of people getting involved and now I feel like it has become saturated with content that doesn't really interest me. With that being said, it does interest over 1 billion users around the world and is quickly becoming one of the most powerful social media sites in the world. I like what I see from @khaleelkazi when it comes to Tik Tok and taking advantage of the trending topic of making money online. It's a simple concept that could yield powerful results. With the number of people looking up "how can I make extra money" or "how can I use my computer to make money", Tik Tok is a perfect intersection between information and entertainment that can bring in a new generation of creators and earners. https://leofinance.io/@khaleelkazi By spreading the love around different platforms, we are making it more likely that we will get noticed and that the platforms we use will get noticed. I applaud everyone who has been posting on other platforms than just Hive (about Hive) and is working to maximize the potential of our ecosystem. Sticking To Stacking Image Source https://brickhunter.com/blog/how-to-build-a-brick-wall-a-step-by-step-guide Went Leveraged Long 13x Andddddddd we were liquidated haha. I learned a few valuable lessons from investing with leverage that have led me to conclude that it is not going to be for me. 1. The Market Doesn't Make Sense I think that one absolute myth is that there are people who think that they are able to predict the market based on price trends. I did some research on different patterns and metrics in crypto markets that supposedly reflect bullish or bearish signals, but just couldn't find myself believing it at face value. When people are analyzing charts from the past, it is incredible easy to attribute cause and effect to certain patterns because you are seeing the end result already. When it comes to predicting the future, I feel like we would see a lot more millionaires and billionaires if people were able to choose plays with any type of reliable consistency. The truth seems to be that anything can happen at any given moment. My BNB long was going to trigger a sell for a 50% gain if it touched $450 a coin, and after touching $445 a coin, it dipped down to $400 in the next 24 hours and liquidated the position. Literally anything can happen and we have no control over any of it in the end. 2. Liquidation Points Are Vulnerable By providing a price point where you can lose your entire investment, you make yourself incredibly vulnerable to price swings. I have full confidence that the price of BNB will reach $450 again, but really had no idea whether it would hit that point before or after it retested $400. The point is once again that trading on leverage just adds another risk to your investment that could swing either way, yet in an environment like cryptocurrency must surely be more likely to go badly (or else I can't see why it would even be offered to use). 3. If You Can't Get Liquidated, You Haven't Lost Yet So after running that little experiment, I decided that the investments for me would be long-term stacking ones where I am not at risk of losing it all during a downturn. Even if your investment is down 70%, if you are holding the token and are not playing the game from a leveraged position, you can hold onto it until it rebounds. Of course, this may just prolong your pain as you hold the bag waiting for the bounce back, but it also gives the possibility of recovery where liquidation destroys it 100%. I will stick with proof-of-stake investments such as Hive because I know that I can compound my earnings by actively using my stake. If USD value of the tokens drop, it is still possible to make it back simply through earning and engaging while waiting for that price rebound that we all hope to see. Moving On I'll be stacking. I bought this dip a little bit to recover the USD value I lost on the liquidation in my portfolio, but decided to put that value into RUNE and LINK instead of returning to BNB. Whatever you decide to do, be sure to assess your risk tolerance and make decisions based on that. I will be stacking, leverage sucks lol. A Great Accumulation Period Image Source https://medium.datadriveninvestor.com/the-4-phases-of-a-crypto-market-cycle-6eb396097b9c Honestly, there has not been much craziness in the crypto markets as of late. Of course that is a relative term based on what types of assets you choose to invest in, because we have seen 5-10% swings in the markets, but I haven't quite seen the carnage or boom that we have become accustomed to in the cryptocurrency space. When it comes to assets that are commonly discussed on web 3.0 forums such as @leofinance that reality holds true as well. https://leofinance.io/@leofinance PolyCub PolyCub has still been riding that price downswing as more tokens are continuing to be added to the supply, but it seems that is slowing up. Things seem to have flattened out quite a bit here as it reaches a point where the believers are accumulating and the non-believers are waiting for a break in either direction to dictate their move. Cub Though not as dramatically, we see a similar pattern starting to emerge for CUB Finance: Hive And again: RUNE RUNE has taken a bit of a dive, though it is vaguely following the same pattern. RUNE is disconnected from the Hive ecosystem (for now), but it is commonly brought up and I thought I should take a look at it. Conclusions? I am not sure if just eyeballing a chart is a solid way to strategize a plan for when to buy, but there really is no plan for doing that successfully anyways. To me, it looks like these dips and then relative stability signal that it is either a period of accumulation or a period of indecision, either of which benefit the long term stacker as they are able to add onto their holdings at a good price. I'm personally stacking a bit of each of these tokens. I have my largest holding in Hive because for now it is the most useful of these tokens for me as I can directly use my stake to earn more by curating great content. Whatever you decide to do, make sure you are positive of your decision before getting involved, or you may find yourself stuck holding a bag you aren't a full believer in. My First Leverage Play - BNB Just took my first leveraged position of my life! I took a 13x long position in BNB when it was at $433.5. I made it 13x because the peak of my risk tolerance for the position was 15x and 13x is supposed to be an unlucky number, but I no longer believe in luck... And........ It is currently going about as well as every other time I've gotten involved with anything related to money haha: I'm enjoying some wonderful 12% unrealized losses in my first hour having the position open. I understand all the Wojak memes about getting absolutely destroyed by liquidation as it heads that way instead of providing gains. I'm not being stupid here, I put a very small amount of money in to try to get some experience in doing it and I am actually not willing to sell unless my target price of $450 is hit. I have set a limit sell at that price. For me, this little experiment will either end with nothing, or with a 50% gain depending on what way the markets decide to go. I'm willing to lose what I've put in and that is something that is incredibly important as we don't want people losing significant amounts of money to bad market fluctuation. I believe that at the end of this experiment, even if I make some gains, I will still know that holding and stacking is the best long-term play to investing in cryptocurrency. As exciting as leverage trading is, one bad trade can really mess you up even if you've had 10 successful ones before that point. Human psychology tells us that as we have increased holdings, we will be wanting to make larger plays in the markets. Someone holding a million dollars is statistically unlikely to be investing $50 in one of their trades. Make sure that as you make successful plays through whatever strategies you use, that you adjust your risk tolerance to match the amount of money you are risking and how important that money is to your livelihood. I will keep you all updated on whether I make any money with this, but basically if you see BNB hit $402, I lost. If you see BNB hit $450 before that happens, I won. Either way, I'll be continuing to stack with profits and any extra money I have. If I make gains with this trade, I'll be buying Hive to power up and use! Not financial advice, make sure you know what you're doing before you do it! Active Trading: First Time In A Long Time Image Source https://medium.com/phoenix-finance/a-deep-dive-into-leverages-in-defi-borrowing-margin-trading-leveraged-tokens-perpetuals-ed9019bd6833 This week I will be taking a very small portion of my paycheck and seeing what I can do actively trading in the markets. I will not be taking 100x leverage positions and freaking out about it all day, but I may try my hand at something like 5x leverage and see what I am able to do. Once again, this will be a very small position so though it would suck to lose it, it wouldn't really kill me. Research I have always been a bit skeptical of trading patterns that day traders always reference as the reason why something will go up or down. I guess there must be some kind of merit to it because it is commonplace to hear people discussing different patterns such as "rising cross" or goofy sounding things like that. Despite my skepticism, I will be giving it a go and seeing how things supposedly work. Now I know that doing it once will not be a good measure of a strategies success rate because I could get blindly lucky or horribly unlucky in one trade, but hey why not see what all the talk is about? I'll be using this site to try to learn about crypto patterns. If you google "crypto signals" there are hundreds of paid and "free" groups to get sent signals via apps like Telegram. That in itself is something that makes me believe that the signals are more a marketing tactic than actually useful information when it comes to pattern trading. Nonetheless... I'll give it a shot haha. https://medium.datadriveninvestor.com/crypto-chart-patterns-cheat-sheet-8e175c4300b Ideas I am thinking that I will want to take a look at leverage trading one of three cryptocurrencies: BTC ETH LINK Obviously BTC and ETH are the two most traded cryptocurrencies, so there will be a ton of volume and places to make these trades, but the price swings are less volatile (a good thing on the downside but a limitation on short-term upside). I am thinking that LINK may be my play here. I absolutely love the concept of what Chainlink is and what the cryptocurrency accomplishes and I believe that the price could see 10%+ swings on any given day. I think I will use this as my base, but if things aren't looking promising probably will go back to BTC or ETH for "safer" leverage trading. Suggestions? Does anyone here day trade or know someone who does? I am interested to know what types of patterns you use and what you think actually works when it comes to day trading. Let me know in the comments and hopefully by this time next week I will be able to update you all on how things went! You're Only As Good As Your Worst Day Image Source https://fs.blog/worst-day/ Here We Go Again Well just as soon as I got started with getting back in the swing of things this week, I got some bad news from an old friend and have to deal with a personal issue that has been plaguing me for months now. In the past, when things would go bad in my life, they would sort of have a domino effect where everything would spiral and make it worse overall. Event 1 would trigger me to do event 2 and then by the end of it there were 15 things wrong instead of just that one. The Difference I saw this quote that I put in the title a little while ago and really find it to be a valuable perspective. If you continue to improve upon how you view your life and situation when something bad happens, that will make the good days even better and make the negatives much more bearable. A very wise man told me that 95% of the problems in your life are often self-caused. If you are able to cut into that 95% of problems and slowly work them down to 0% knowing that they are within your control, then the 5% of problems that life throws your way will be almost nothing in comparison and you will be in a great position to deal with them. You just need to focus on what you can control and make sure that you aren't adding 14 problems to a situation where there are really only 1 or 2 things going wrong. The Business Implication You can only function at your highest level in whatever you are pursuing if you have a clear head and are collected in temperament. Looking at running a business, you wouldn't want to run into a problem and end up scrapping the whole business because you create 14 more problems reacting to the issue. Rather, you would want to slow down and focus on solving that issue without making it worse. Life is not easy by any means, but if you function with a damage control mentality and get after your problems rather than reacting to them, you'll make it through. Today, I am dealing with a few sh*t sandwiches, but I know that once I get through those things, there will be no reason to stress on the other side. Rather than running to a casino or involving myself in some destructive pattern to react to this negative news, I am here to write my daily article and get myself back on track for a better day ahead. I'll get my work done and get myself to the gym later today rather than laying around all day and making things worse. Perspective. Perspective. Perspective. If you can make your worst day a decent one, you're bound for success. Let's get after it and keep working towards success. Good luck in whatever you are getting after today people! Back At It: The State of The Hive Blockchain I had a few days offline this weekend and it was a great break for me, but now we are right back at it. PolyCub The first thing that I checked up on when I got back online was the value of Polycub and where the xPolyCub ratio was at. As expected, the value of PolyCub has continued to decrease as more PolyCub are mined. However, as the Polycub per block has now decreased to 1, it is certainly possible that the bottom is in or near for price. The xPolycub ratio is now pushing up to almost 20, which is continued proof that the number really does only go up in this case. As of writing this it is sitting around 19.64, though I wouldn't be shocked to see it hitting 20 within a day or two. That's a reminder that though the dollar value of PolyCub is on a downwards trend, you are holding more PolyCub than you were before as long as you are staking it in the xPolyCub contract or are farming it in another contract. Dollar value is not a full indicator of the potential here, though we all obviously want to see it heading upwards in the future. Splinterlands The game economy has been at a bit of a stand-still, but that is not a bad thing. In my opinion, Splinterlands assets seem to be in an accumulation phase where people know they have a ton of value, but are not sure if they are able to reach those massive heights that they were at a few months ago. It is my belief that they surely can reach those levels again with the insane influxes of money we see to cryptocurrency gaming and play2earn, but only time will tell. One issue that I'm seeing is that packs are selling very slow. Now don't get me wrong... Selling 8 million plus units in a game is a huge bullish sign, I'm just a bit surprised they haven't sold more already. Maybe there will be a big scoop up like we saw with the Untamed collection, but I want to see that next airdrop card ASAP, so I hope things start to get into more of a rhythm when it comes to pack sales. Leo Finance @leofinance is still killing the game as I've seen a ton of articles coming out as usual and the marketing that is being done is bringing in new users. Very happy to be a part of the community and seeing that it is a cryptocurrency and finance blogging space, I feel it is perfect for people who are new to crypto or web 3.0 and is a perfect niche to pick up users as adoption continues. https://leofinance.io/@leofinance Dunk Social Things are a bit slow on @dunksocial and that is partially my fault. I was not able to put as much into the project as I would have liked to over the last year, but there are a few very dedicated community members and I am hoping to provide a great platform for them in the future. As I get some more $ to innovate, I am seeking partnerships and extensions with other sports communities (i.e. fantasy sports, sports communities on Hive, etc.) and the future has a ton of potential. In the meantime, I am trying to get contests up regularly and keep the community involved, though I could do a better job of getting things out quicker! As the NBA season moves towards the playoffs, I hope to see some good engagement over there! https://leofinance.io/@dunksocial Come talk basketball on Dunk Social! https://dunksocial.io/ Come talk comedy on PeakD community - Com3dy Central https://peakd.com/c/hive-127651/created **Links and Connections:** Join me on Splinterlands exploring blockchain gaming Get paid for your search results with Presearch Follow me on Twitter/Instagram: @ Rob_Minnick23 Hive: @ rob23 NEW TRIBE: @dunksocial Join me on Torum Check out Cake DeFi for staking rewards Bitcoin Cash Apps: @ rob23 Join me on Publish0x to talk crypto https://splinterlands.com/?ref=rob23hive https://presearch.org/signup?rid=1992127 https://leofinance.io/@dunksocial https://www.torum.com/signup?referral_code=robminnick23 https://pool.cakedefi.com/#?ref=187314 https://www.publish0x.com/?a=M7e587xqd2 **Who I am:** My name is Rob and I am a prospective law student with interests in cryptocurrency and blockchain. Buy The Dip - PolyCub Opportunities The Options Here we are again. Another great project is dipping in price. Another chance to either say "oh no I don't want to buy, the price is falling" or a chance to BUY THE DIP. By using capital letters, I have emphasized what the better choice is (NFA)... PolyCub has dipped down significantly over the last few days, though honestly that is to be expected with the nature of the token itself as it is still being airdropped and the supply is continuously increasing. Though we can never predict what will happen to the price of any asset, I have seen this pattern play out many times during my days in cryptocurrency. When you are dealing with a token that is being airdropped, people continuously dump that airdrop because they are seeking to find the next shiny thing to chase after; the people who make the profits in the long term with a successful project are the one's holding long term and staking the airdrop. I've personally continued to buy and stake PolyCub to the xPolyCub contract as the price has been heading downwards because I really like the long term vision, especially when it comes to the self-funding loans that will be implemented to borrow against your PolyCub holdings. My opinions on the project stem from a trust in the @leofinance team and community as well as a dislike for the way the traditional banking system functions. My cryptocurrency interests (and thus my personal investments) are in projects that are seeking to do things differently than they are currently being done. This yield optimizer followed by a self-paying loan is a revolutionary concept that I think could be a real difference maker in the future. This dip in price is a blessing for the long-term stacker, though it doesn't look great for the short-term speculator. https://leofinance.io/@leofinance Do your own research before buying anything, but I think that PolyCub has a chance to make a big impact in the cryptocurrency ecosystem, even if short-term price is looking pretty unappealing. Stick with it and keep stacking... That's my goal at least. Splinterlands Hedgefund? A Current Issue I am a huge fan of Splinterlands and the structure of the game. I enjoy opening packs, collecting/combining cards, planning strategy and playing the game. I also enjoy the game from a financial standpoint in terms of speculation and passive income through investing. One problem area for Splinterlands lies in the fact that there are people who want to make investments into cryptocurrency games because they know they could make huge gains, but don't enjoy playing or participating in the game economy. The other night when I pitched the idea to my friends, they were interested in putting some money in, but either don't have the time or the interest to play the game or learn/keep up with the rental market. A Solution It became apparent to me at this point that people read the news about assets making huge market gains, but are often reluctant to get involved because they don't feel they can get fully involved with it. What my friends specifically could benefit from (and thus maybe others with similar mindsets) would be a mechanism where they could invest capital and an active player or coalition of players could handle the diversification of the in-game assets and the earnings side of things (i.e. rentals or using the assets to earn DEC to be redistributed). When trying similar concepts in the past, I have found myself getting bored and not following through with things, but the idea is a solid one. The Positives More people would get exposure to Splinterlands assets and more people who were very unlikely to get involved will be joining the ecosystem. The managers would earn a brokerage fee of some kind or maybe they would take a portion of the profits; it would need to be a case by case basis and could be offered up like something we see on Fiverr. Increased investment would be good for the market and we could start to see some upwards price trajectory whereas we have been seeing dropping prices as of late (minus SPS, @splinterlands congrats on getting listed on crypto.com). https://leofinance.io/@splinterlands The Risks The risks lie in the fact that in a situation like this there would need to be a high level of trust. Due to the fact that you have to hold private keys and divulge information to hold the assets, a fund like this would have to utilize the delegation feature of Splinterlands in order to make sure that the managers would not run off with the investments. This does present another negative as the investor would have to trigger the delegation transactions which would require them to at least learn basic knowledge on the process (something that they likely wanted to avoid from the start). If anyone has a better solution for that reality, I would love to hear it. Additionally, there needs to be trust to report earnings and send those earnings out to investor wallets. Perhaps a data compiler could be employed by the managers to show transparency. There is also the risk that people forget that Splinterlands is a game and not just a money making enterprise. However, this risk seems to be a moral one rather than something that would hurt the game ecosystem because of measures such as the DEC Capture rate that stops bots from continuously earning from battles. Let me know what you all think, I am just spitballing an idea here and have no plan to actually bring it to fruition. Will Smith Inu - The Number One Gainer On Coinmarketcap I present to you... The reason why nobody takes cryptocurrency seriously: The Will Smith Inu token is not only a meme token about the moment that Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars, but also is the number one biggest gainer this morning on Coinmarketcap... This is the shittiest of shit coins. This is just insanity. The meme tokens are back in full force right now in the cryptocurrency world. I remember when Dogecoin was first making a push, mainly through Robinhood traders and hearing people talk about how useless it actually was. The Will Smith Inu token makes Dogecoin look like Bitcoin honestly. So for those that didn't see, Will Smith basically slapped a standup comedian on stage because he made fun of his wife. The entire situation was very soft and has led to days of roasts and jokes directed towards him and his wife. Ironically, him going up on stage and "defending" his wife has put him in a much worse situation when it comes to the eye of the general public. Now, not only does he have to deal with professional comedians making fun of him, but he also has to deal with being the number one trending meme in the cryptocurrency community. I wonder if Will Smith has purchased any Will Smith Inu, and I wonder why the hell anyone would buy it haha. If you are for some stupid reason interested in purchasing this token, the contract address is the following: 0x361a8c6ef166ea5904a82f6e8b085f0ee4408a6b It is an Ethereum based token, so if you are wack enough to pay massive gas fees for tokens that serve no purpose other than making fun of the fresh prince of Bel Air, have at it people! 50 Days Clean From Gambling Image Source https://www.bestuscasinos.org/blog/7-reasons-to-stop-gambling-at-casinos/ It's been a long and difficult road getting away from the temptation of gambling. People usually don't like to talk about negative aspects of themselves, but that is something that I don't mind doing when it leads to some productive thinking or conclusions. Over a year and a quarter ago, I decided to start doing blogging about cryptocurrency as a means of distracting myself from gambling. Well though I found it to be a productive outlet for my time, it didn't really stop me or accomplish the original goal that I had set out of quitting gambling. We all have our vices in this world and there are things that can lead even the most disciplined of us to make bad decisions. I realized that I needed to get myself together after missing out on enormous gains (life changing for me) on Cardano because I had sold my holdings during a binge. I had collected roughly 40,000 Cardano when they were trading for roughly 8-10 cents. During the top of Cardano's run, tokens were trading for upwards of $2, enough to make my holdings worth enough for a downpayment on a nice house (and even more from the staking rewards that would have came). Rather than looking on this with horrible distaste. I have used it as a springboard to make tangible changes in my life. I'm no psychic or expert trader. I saw a token that was cheap and it was lucky enough to find some momentum as Hoskinson started building their smart contract platform. Rather than thinking "oh man, that was my one chance", I began thinking "well if that was able to happen, there are surely many more chances for the same to happen in the future". So I haven't given up, I've simply learned from the mistake and am now moving forward. For the first time since high school, I have been able to get through 50 days without making a single bet. With support of friends, family and my peers I am already starting to see my finances begin to build. I'm not sitting on a house-sized nest egg, but I'm also not losing anything anymore. I have what I have and I will continue to build up my holdings at a reasonable pace rather than trying everything possible to get rich overnight. Addiction and compulsion is not something easily understood unless you or a loved one has gone through it, so I don't expect much understanding in this situation. My message here is, I'm kicking ass now and things are getting better by the day. We have so many great projects being discussed here on the daily that we are bound to all be sitting on a 100x gem if the market conditions favor us in the end. I believe that with patience and conviction, this is just the start for all of us. Let's get it! Hitting Milestones / Check Out Hivestats.io Out of the many tools that Hive community members put together to access stats and reports from the blockchain, one of my absolute favorites has been Hivestats.io from the @leofinance team. https://leofinance.io/@leofinance This tool allows users to track their earnings over their entire career on Hive as well as monitor account growth over time. You can see a breakdown of your earnings over the last week, last 30 days, or all time. Here is a screenshot from the site: There is also a breakdown of your pending earnings for each post and comment in Hive Power and HBD as well as in Hive-Engine token earnings. This is something that a lot of people were asking for because it can become quite tedious to go through and figure out exactly what you will be earning, especially with those engine tokens. Additionally, the site is great side marketing for other leofinance stuff such as polycub and cub finance as they show the price feeds for a lot of different tokens that are vital to the Hive ecosystem now. If you notice, I have earned just over 2000 HP from authoring posts during my time on Hive. For the whales that may not be a life-changing number, but to be able to say that my writing and comments have made me over $2,000, I am very proud. I look to continue and hopefully the next 2,000 HP won't take an entire year! However, even if it does, I will continue posting here because I truly enjoy it. I am also making it a goal to get my curation numbers up, especially as I keep powering up Hive. I want to make sure that I am maximizing the potential that the platform has to offer on the blogging and engagement side. What are your milestones? Have you tried Hivestats.io? Where To Invest $5000 Right Now? Image Source https://www.investopedia.com/terms/p/portfolio.asp Two of my friends have come to me and told me that they are sitting on some cash savings that they would like to put into cryptocurrency and add some more innovative/high-risk assets to their portfolios. I'm no financial expert, but I do think that I am pretty in the loop when it comes to crypto projects and understanding what the utility is for some of the bigger name tokens. Their knowledge on the topic is relatively low, they just know that Bitcoin is famous and is what everyone is investing in now, altcoins are something that they have heard of but don't quite know what any of them do. So over the next few days, I'll be putting together some info for them to read up on regarding a few different cryptocurrencies as well as some terms and information that are important (i.e. smart contracts, DEX, DeFi, etc.). I'm thinking that I will provide a loose shell for what could be deemed a very unofficial crypto ETF for them to invest in if they choose to do so after learning about it. I want to make sure that I am hitting a varied group of cryptocurrencies that offer different utility. At the same time, some previous feedback from community members on my possible allocations on my own money has convinced me that the investments can't be too spread out if we want to see significant gains on the holdings in dollar value, which is what my friends are seeking. I'm going to keep things simple and give them information/tips on five tokens. BTC This is one that they will probably grasp pretty easily and is what I plan on investing most of my funds in. I'm thinking that they will likely want to take their largest position in BTC, but I won't provide recommended allocations until I figure out what their risk tolerance is. ETH Still the king of smart-contracts despite those pesky gas fees. Until proven otherwise, ETH is still a solid play in the market. They'll need to know that it will cost them an arm and a leg to send their investment around so we'll need to have a firm plan on purchase and storage. HIVE No brainer here. I'll want to get them up on web 3.0 knowledge and let them know that fee-less transactions and the ecosystem being built on Hive will prove to be important as the world continues going digital. Splinterlands (SPS/Game Assets) I think that I would be remiss if I didn't include blockchain gaming in their investment. I am not sure yet what exactly I should have them purchase here, but I do know that Splinterlands assets have been on a downtrend and it is a great time to get in before huge additions find their way to the game ecosystem. Chainlink I'll continue being a huge fan of Chainlink until someone can show me a more useful oracle. This token has a huge network and is setting up perfectly to be a bridge between the physical and digital worlds. I will keep you updated on what their allocations end up being and if I compile any useful reports or information I will share them on here as well! When LEO-RUNE Liquidity Pool? I am a huge fan of a few things when it comes to blockchain and cryptocurrency. However, my two favorite things (other than Bitcoin) at this time are Thorchain and @leofinance. https://leofinance.io/@leofinance RUNE I've been a fan of Rune for quite a while now and have done my best to stack some. Today they shot up 15% in value, and I believe that this is just a small glimpse at what is to come. I'll toss in a little official description of what RUNE is for my fellow crypto-nerds who want the deeper dive: THORCHain is a decentralized liquidity protocol that allows users to easily exchange cryptocurrency assets across a range of networks without losing full custody of their assets in the process. With THORChain, users can simply swap one asset for another in a permissionless setting, without needing to rely on order books to source liquidity. Instead, market prices are maintained through the ratio of assets in a pool (see automated market maker). The native utility token of the THORChain platform is RUNE. This is used as the base currency in the THORChain ecosystem and is also used for platform governance and security as part of THORChain's Sybil resistance mechanisms — since THORChain nodes must commit a minimum of 1 million RUNE to participate in its rotating consensus process. All that info is from Coinmarketcap and there is even more if you want to dive in. I have used Thorswap and even the THORwallet that was recently released to do a bit of DEX trading and liquidity pooling. LEO It's no secret that I love the plans @leofinance has for their native token LEO. I blog here daily and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. I believe that it is one of the most valuable hive-engine tokens. https://leofinance.io/@leofinance I think that everyone should be keeping an eye on what this team is doing with their defi projects cub finance and polycub. Partnership? I would love to see the ability to pool RUNE with LEO or with CUB or PolyCub. I am not sure what the logistics of this idea would be (Thor-wrapped Leo?) but I know that the two communities coming together would be beneficial for everyone. I also know that being able to earn yield from my two favorite assets being paired together would be a huge win in my book. What do we think? Would RUNE be a good ecosystem to get after next for the @leofinance team? I'm inclined to say yes. https://leofinance.io/@leofinance Come talk basketball on Dunk Social! https://dunksocial.io/ Come talk comedy on PeakD community - Com3dy Central https://peakd.com/c/hive-127651/created **Links and Connections:** Join me on Splinterlands exploring blockchain gaming Get paid for your search results with Presearch Follow me on Twitter/Instagram: @ Rob_Minnick23 Hive: @ rob23 NEW TRIBE: @dunksocial Join me on Torum Check out Cake DeFi for staking rewards Bitcoin Cash Apps: @ rob23 Join me on Publish0x to talk crypto https://splinterlands.com/?ref=rob23hive https://presearch.org/signup?rid=1992127 https://leofinance.io/@dunksocial https://www.torum.com/signup?referral_code=robminnick23 https://pool.cakedefi.com/#?ref=187314 https://www.publish0x.com/?a=M7e587xqd2 **Who I am:** My name is Rob and I am a prospective law student with interests in cryptocurrency and blockchain. If You Could Work Anywhere, Where Would You Go? Image Source https://www.celebritycruises.com/blog/italy-in-the-summer One thing that I am loving about my new job (and many jobs are likely going to remain this way) is that I am working remote. Though because I am new, I am going to keep my schedule very standard for a while, it is more of an objective-completion schedule than it is an hour-based position. This means that as long as the work is getting done, it doesn't quite matter when I am online... This opens up a world of opportunities. We are living in the first era ever where regular people are able to work from home. That means the end of commutes, early mornings, traffic, gas-costs, etc. When your work is done, the rest of your day is free and it belongs to you with no inhibitions, the way it always should have been. The concept of working remote also allows you to pick up your equipment and go wherever in the world you want to go. I have always known that one day I want to end up living (or at least living a part of the year) in Europe. The vibes there are just so much better than in America as I find people to be much more laid back and willing to enjoy life rather than work and stress themselves to death. Well... With remote working, I could grab my computer and book a flight over to Ibiza, Mykonos, St. Tropez, Amalfi, etc. and be able to get my objectives done and spend the rest of my time enjoying the vibes. With things like AirBNB, extended stays that don't quite qualify as renting or getting a lease are much more accessible than ever before. Really all you will need to ensure you have is a wifi connection and somewhere to charge your computer and you can pick up working right there. I guess that if I really had to choose based on where I have already traveled, I would want to work somewhere with an island-vibe but is still accessible to the mainland just in case I wanted to take some weekend trips. I would choose to work on the Amalfi coast of Italy and take the train up to Rome for some travel opportunities. I loved Italy and the food is unbeatable if we're being honest with ourselves. Hopefully one day, my job will just be watching my crypto passive income coming in through DeFi farms and contracts like xPolycub, but for now, I still need to keep working so I can stack those assets up to reach that point (in the very distant future as well haha). That's the dream; laying on the beach and buying daiquiris with PolyCub profits... Let's hope. So I will end by asking you, where you would work if you could work anywhere in the world right now? Buying This PolyCub Dip Like Crazy Last week we saw PolyCub pumping quite a bit as people became aware of what was going on with the platform. Now, despite the fact that the @leofinance team has released information that the xPolycub contract will be used for a wildly innovative self-paying loan initiative, we are seeing the price dumping pretty consistently. https://leofinance.io/@leofinance Here is a little screenshot of price action from the past week: I for one will be buying up this dip. I would never give financial advice, but the concept of a self-paying over-collateralized loan is something that I want to be a part of in the future, and I figure that staking PolyCub to the xPolycub contract as early as possible will yield the most promising results for participating in this in the future. The ratio in the PolyCub contract is nearing 16 now. Just a week ago it was down in the single digits. Things are getting really interesting with this platform and it is by no means too late to get involved with it. This ratio may one day hit triple digits (or beyond), it is important to know your plan and start making the moves you believe will yield success. I will be buying this dip because 70 cent Polycub is a gift right now in my opinion. FINALLY Got An Airdropped Card On Splinterlands The impossible has finally happened for me on Splinterlands. I got an airdrop that came from purchasing packs! I am the owner of one regular foil Carnage Titan, the airdropped card for Splinterlands passing the 8 million packs sold threshold for the Chaos Legion release. The card itself presents some great stats and abilities to throw into a dragon lineup as it has the reach ability and is set up as a secondary tank. I have some good ideas for how to use the card in a high mana battle. Let's take a look at how it is doing on the markets thus far. Here is the regular foil market: Here is the gold foil market: It seems to me like a lot of the airdropped cards have been performing around a similar rate in the markets. Overall, NFT markets seem down and that is hitting Splinterlands for sure (though the game is still thriving) when it comes to the market value of assets being traded. Of course, looking at it from a supply-demand standpoint, it makes sense that the price would continuously decrease as more are received through the airdrop. With that being said, it also seems that these cards are finding similar bottoms in the market ($10-$15) despite having wildly different abilities. Whatever the reason for the price going down, I am happy to have finally gotten in on the airdrop madness and hope to continue to be involved in the future. Do your own research, but I will be using this period of the market being on a downtrend to stack some assets in the game and work on improving my deck while I still can. Big things are coming in Splinterlands and it is just a matter of time before the market starts to price that in a bit more. Good luck! Hive Is On The Rise Again Image Source https://ultcoin365.com/th/hive-blockchain-announces-a-significant-increase-in-annual-revenues-and-earnings/ With all the hype that engine-tokens are bringing to the table, it is sometimes forgotten just how important Hive is to the ecosystem. Of course, we all know that Hive is the cryptocurrency that powers the Hive blockchain, but at least in the beginning of my time on Hive, I did not realize that was the token that would serve the most importance when it came to influence and reputation on the blockchain. Depending on what front-end you go through to participate on the Hive Blockchain, you realize right away that the displays you see for earnings will vary, but will rarely be displaying the Hive earnings of the post (it does if you use hive.blog or peakd.com). Hive is back on the come up after this past week! Remember that Hive has all of these functions and serves an important role because of them: Governance The most important aspect of Hive in my opinion is the ability it gives holders to participate in and vote in governance decisions that effect the entire blockchain. When proposals are submitted, users are able to use their Hive power to get a direct say in what the future of that proposal will be. Influence Having more Hive Power increases the amount of curation rewards you are able to receive for engaging with the posts of others. Additionally, when you give out upvotes you improve the reputation score of the creator you are engaging with; theoretically a higher reputation score means improved visibility and engagement for that author in the future Trade Value You can of course trade Hive on an exchange to make money, or trade it on the Hive-Engine as swap.hive for different engine tokens. Staking You can stake swap.hive with different Hive-Engine tokens to earn rewards using the diesel pools! There are a ton of uses for Hive and there are a ton of projects being built on the blockchain, I am excited to be a part of it! All You Need Is An Internet Connection Image Source https://writingcooperative.com/write-what-you-know-or-know-what-you-write-4ef90513955 Just Write I was wildly excited to see that my articles are starting to have some actual traction/recognition when I write them. I am by no means a celebrity nor in the top 5% of earners on any web 3.0 platform, but I am starting to feel like I am at least not falling on deaf ears when I write something. I started a little over a year and a half ago at this point and I am finally reaching the point where I have peers I regularly engage with and discuss content with online and it just feels good. When people talk about the new form of blogging that we're all doing (i.e. posting on Hive and getting curated or posting on Publish0x and receiving micro-tips) they always say that all you need is an internet connection and some patience. I wouldn't go out and say that I've "made it" or anything in terms of influence on these platforms, but I am reaching a point where I feel good posting and engaging. Hurdles The only hurdle you really have to face as content creator on web 3.0 is time. Given enough consistent effort, things just simply improve. Top creators on Hive post daily and they leave dozens and dozens of comments. Another thing that they do is engage with people who comment on their posts. Not only does this provide them with more earning opportunities simply through volume of content, but it also gives them another connection to build upon. Creators like @taskmaster4450le maintain daily connections with many other authors and thus develop great opportunities for growth. https://leofinance.io/@taskmaster4450le The hurdles in front of you as a web 3.0 content creator are conquered through effort alone. Additional financial investment is something that can help you grow your stake, but is not necessary for progressing in web 3.0. Really just keep trucking along and doing your part is a blossoming ecosystem and we will all see the rewards from our work a few years from now. I believe that web 3.0 is the future of the internet and that we'll see that reach the mainstream public within the next 5 years. Of course we all want to see things move along faster than they will but if we are patient and consistent, things will get there. I am confident. I look forward to continuing to engage with everyone on here and continuing to grow my stake in what is sure to be the next big web advancement. Give Me All The CUB Possible For all the excitement around the PolyCub airdrop and xPolyCub, I am a bit surprised in the lack of price movement that the CUB token has experienced... At least that's what I was saying until just a few hours ago. BOOM: I have been accumulating as much CUB as my budget was allowing over the last week in order to get as much out the airdrop as I possibly could and was surprised that each time I was making a buy, the price was either a little lower or pretty much the same as the previous purchase. It looks like someone absolutely fat thumbed it and made a monster purchase of CUB to shoot the price up roughly 13.25% in a matter of seconds. It looks like there was a purchase of just over 121,000 CUB that were then staked into a liquidity pool (likely the CUB Kingdom). Along with a few other decent sized buys, this looks like it was a massive day for CUB and the total value locked into the site. I am a big fan of the DeFi tools that are being released by @leofinance and I hope that getting in early on them will pay dividends in the future. It seems that most DeFi projects simply don't make it, or a rug pull happens, or for any number of reasons it fails; this platform has been around for a year providing consistent results and I really think that it is putting it's money where it's mouth is and creating something great in relative silence. https://leofinance.io/@leofinance I will be continuing to add to my CUB holdings, even though I will get roughly 13.25% less bang for my buck now that this huge purchase was made. Keep an eye on CUB! NFA Good luck with your trades everyone! Don't Forget About SPS! With the NFT and Play2Earn markets taking a bit of a beating, I am noticing most of the general cryptocurrency space starting to look for the next shiny big thing. However, it also feels like interest levels in the space are incredibly cyclical and can be swayed with a singular announcement or development. This is how I feel about Splinterlands. The market prices for the higher-priced assets have dropped significantly over the last few months and I actually expect that to more or less continue until we see another catalyst (as an active Hive user and fan of the game, I know there have been catalysts lately, but the average person has a very short attention span and interest level). Take for example the price of Yodin Zaku, arguably the best summoner in the game: I remember seeing this card trading on average for between $800-$900 for a very significant time period. Now over the last month, @peakmonsters has the cards listed average sale value at $444.679 which is roughly a 45% dip from that $800 mark. https://leofinance.io/@peakmonsters Now, whether or not you believe any in game asset should be selling for that large chunk of change is up to you, but a 45% dip from any price value is a significant one in my book. It is my belief that we will see some rebounds from the levels we are at now when the news about the game kicks up again and interest levels from the general public get moving again. For that reason, I am viewing this time period as an awesome one for accumulation. I don't know anything about how to value these assets so definitely don't take my word as advice, but I plan on stacking some gold foil legendaries and useful strategic cards while the prices are about half of what they had been. Additionally, I expect the end of the SPS airdrop to be a catalyst as the supply will stop going up. Given additional benefits for holding SPS coming to light at that point, there will be increased demand for a token that is no longer being put into the supply and the price would theoretically rise. If the governance token of the platform rises to a significant level, we can expect to see speculators taking a chance on other in-game assets. I just reached a significant SPS goal of having 2,000 staked SPS. I'm no whale by any means, but I was able to accomplish this mostly due to the earnings from the airdrop. If we see price movement in the future, I will look back and be pretty happy that I was always staking my airdrop rather than dumping it. Whatever your plans are for Splinterlands, I recommend keeping an eye on the number of days left in that airdrop. I can't imagine that the team would drop those tokens with no intention of releasing more features for their use. I could be wrong, but I just feel it's unlikely here. The Solana Wormhole Hack - Details Coming Out What Happened? Well if you haven't heard, around a month or so ago, 98,000 ETH were stolen from the Solana Wormhole. This is essentially a decentralized swap service that allows users to exchange Solana for cryptocurrencies on other networks. A hacker (or group) was able to exploit a weakness in the contract and steal all of these funds from users. I am by no means a coder, but in the last few days, there has been some discussion about the details on Twitter and I have been seeking a way to understand what happened. Well, I went past a tweet and it seems to be a pretty simple explanation for what happened and it goes back to such a basic mathematical concept that it is mind-blowing that a mistake like this could be made. My god. pic.twitter.com/y8uruq3BvB https://t.co/y8uruq3BvB — mike (@mikeinspace) March 15, 2022 https://leofinance.io/@mikeinspace https://twitter.com/mikeinspace/status/1503754795848450061?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw So essentially... a double-negative and a double-positive both equated to the same approval outcome... The hacker submitted two incorrect inputs and was approved by the system for the massive withdrawal. Two negative numbers or two positive numbers both equaling a positive number is the concept that I referred to. Now of course, this math concept is a bit of a metaphor for the situation, but apparently the mistake that cost investors millions of dollars was something that should have been avoided by any programmer with over a few months of experience. Is There More To This? This feels like such a mind-blowing mistake that I'm wondering if it was a plant. I'm throwing my tin-foil hat on here for sure, but I just can't imagine how something like that would slip by a dev team experienced enough to create a cross-chain swap platform. Maybe someone looked the other way or changed the code late in the process to include such an easily exploitable mistake. I believe that the funds were replenished by the team and they assured investors that there would be audits and improvements, so maybe this was a play to get money laundered or line the pockets of team members? All of this is theoretical thinking and I have absolutely no evidence (nor do I plan on getting any), but it is just wild to think about the possibility. Anyone thinking things look super weird here? Not good for Solana in any way, even if it was an honest mistake. All The Ways To Buy Hive (In America) Someone asked me yesterday in a comment where they would be able to buy Hive and I realized it is not as clear cut as it is for some other cryptocurrencies for American citizens (who are following the rules). I had to give it some thought and after doing so, I was able to present them with a few ways that you could accomplish getting Hive, though most of the options are not as simple as they could be. Getting Hive: Hive-Engine I guess the easiest place to start in my opinion is probably just to use the Hive-Engine. They have a slew of deposit options that come in as Hive-Engine tokens (i.e. Swap.LTC or Swap.BTC) and allow you to sell them directly for Swap.Hive which can then be withdrawn for a fee using their service or another service like Hivepay or even the Leodex to get regular Hive into your wallet. Simpleswap/StealthEX These are the two options provided in the wallet on @peakd I have not personally tried either of them but they seem to be either non-KYC or low-KYC options for swapping tokens to Hive. https://leofinance.io/@peakd Blocktrades Another site that I am unfamiliar with, but is the work of @theycallmedan and others. I presume it functions just like any other exchange and is a place where you can acquire Hive. https://leofinance.io/@theycallmedan ProBit This is the exchange that I have used in the past, though you do have to do KYC and your limits are pretty low as an American citizen. There is pretty good liquidity there though. Splinterlands If you want to you can flip Splinterlands assets for a small loss and get paid in DEC which can then be used to purchase Swap.Hive in the Hive-Engine and be withdrawn as mentioned before. You'd need to use PeakMonsters in tangent with this to know the spreads between asset bid and ask marks to figure out if it would be worth it for you (there is also a 5% market fee). @deathwing Bridge https://leofinance.io/@deathwing This bridge has always been my favorite to go from Hive to BNB, though I am not sure how many use it to do the reverse. Nonetheless, you are able to do so and I personally vouch for the safety of the bridge. https://bscbridge.deathwing.me/ Unwrapping pLeo/bLeo/wLeo This is the latest option as you are able to purchase Leo on either the Polygon, Binance Smart Chain or Ethereum networks and unwrap them using Uniswap, Cub Finance or PolyCub! There is relevant documentation on each site. Whatever your decision is for how to acquire Hive, make sure you know what you are doing before you get into it to avoid losses and fees! Let The Dollar Cost Averaging Begin Image Source https://topicsontech.com/sbi-recurring-deposit-rd-investment-how-calculate-to-maturity-value/ Today I start my new job and I am really excited to be able to get back into really building my savings and investments with what I am able to save after expenses. I've written in the past about dollar-cost-averaging and still believe that it is the most optimal strategy for investing into cryptocurrency (of course DYOR, but I sure think so). I'm going to be able to put a good amount of money into crypto each time I get paid from working and I wanted to just publish my allocations to see what y'all think of it. I am most definitely not a financial advisor, but I welcome you to use my allocation percentages if you decide you like it and the risk balance suits your investment style! The Allocations One note that I'll make is that my previous allocation idea did not include a recurring investment in Hive or HBD because of the fact that I would be earning that through daily publishing, but I think I've seen the light on this one and will try to add a bit to my bags each pay cycle. Bitcoin The king of crypto for the foreseeable future, BTC will be my biggest allocation. I decided that I should be putting 40% of my overall crypto investment into BTC Ethereum Though I hate the gas prices, ETH is still very important in the crypto world with the first mover advantage, I have decided to put 20% of my recurring investment into ETH as a result of that. Chainlink This oracle will prove to be very important for real world implementations in my opinion and thus I will be putting 10% into this gem. Hive/HBD I'll be throwing 10% of the recurring investment into Hive and HBD (roughly split evenly) as it is the future of web 3.0 and will enable me increase my earnings potential from curation and from the 12% interest on the HBD. MATIC I'll be putting 5% into MATIC as I believe that it will be home to many great projects in the future (as we've seen with PolyCub already!) RUNE This will be an awesome DEX and decentralized cross-chain network in my opinion and so I'll be putting 5% in it each week because I believe it can be very important for the crypto world in the future. PolyCub/Cub I'll split 5% between PolyCub and Cub investments so that I can take advantage of the airdrop and the high APR rates being offered here. I have written a lot about PolyCub and believe that the @leofinance team is doing a great job setting themselves up as an important part of the crypto world heading forward. https://leofinance.io/@leofinance Splinterlands I'm still a huge fan of Splinterlands and want to continue building my collection, so I'll throw the last 5% in each cycle and see if I can improve my deck a bit faster than battling alone. That's my allocation concept, I want to know what people think of it! I'm excited to get stacking and I hope that a few years from now I will look back on this and think about how well it went! xPolyCub Looking Better Each Day There's not all that much new going on in the crypto world today as far as I can tell, so I just thought I'd take a deeper dive into the xPolyCub den and better understand what is happening with it. What Is xPolyCub? Well we know that PolyCub is a Polygon-network token for the new yield optimizer the @leofinance team launched called polycub.com, but what is this xPolyCub they have? https://leofinance.io/@leofinance Essentially, the xPolyCub staking platform is a ratio-based mechanism where you earn more PolyCub by withdrawing it later on as the amount you are able to withdraw increases as Polycub is bought back using money from fees and withdraw penalties from other users. Here is a blurb directly from the site: PolyCUB (POLYCUB) is the native token for the PolyCUB yield optimizing platform. Users can earn POLYCUB by participating in any of the Kingdom vaults or by staking it into xPOLYCUB to earn the 50% fee penalty generated by other farmers who harvest their yield before the X block locking period. To understand how this works, you can divide 'Total Staked' on this page (user stakes, rewards, penalties) against how much Polycub is in the xPolycub contract (0x905e21f6c4cb1ad789ced61cd0734590a4542346) totalSupply (how much xPolycub has been created from user staking). This process essentially rewards those who stake rather than selling as well as those who get in early as the ratio continues to increase (getting in early gets you more xPolyCub for your PolyCub investment) What Am I Doing? I love this concept as it rewards the people who are trusting in the project from the start as well as becoming a deflationary asset with the way PolyCub is being mined and rewarded. There is a ton of potential here if the PolyCub platform steps up as an important part of the yield optimizing ecosystem (something that I believe it can do). I am holding my PolyCub earned from farming and not selling because of the locking period fee, but am accumulating PolyCub with other capital and staking it to the xPolyCub den so that I can reap some early rewards. 100% of my airdrop is going into the xPolyCub den as well. It's exciting to get involved with a project like this and I hope it will be a positive for all of us. Patience will be key surely as more PolyCub will enter the supply each day, but the deflationary structure should yield good results as time goes on. The DeFi Disconnect Image Source https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/pepe-silvia This is what I look like explaining DeFi, yield optimizers and liquidity farming to my non-crypto friends and family. The Problem After working with it for a little over a year, Decentralized Finance is something that makes intuitive sense to me. You find a platform you believe in and then you invest money to be used in swaps on that site and you benefit by receiving the fees. It feels logical to me, yet when someone asks me to explain it to them, I end up finding the most difficult answers possible. Common questions that I hear include: Where does the money come from? Why does the crypto you earn have value? Who is in charge of distributing the money? How are the rates determined? How can we trust such astronomical APR rates? What the hell is yield? What is a yield optimizer? What is liquidity farming? What if the internet breaks? Who would I contact if I make a mistake? As you can see, these questions all have answers, but to the completely uninitiated, it is a very difficult concept to grasp if you reply that "well the money comes from people making swaps"... Well where is that coming from? Is there a warehouse somewhere with a bunch of money labeled "for the DeFi liquidity". It is a bit out there in terms of bringing in new users. I feel like when I am providing answers to questions, even when doing it as simply as possible I find myself losing the person I am speaking to. This brand of finance is so new and people are just not used to using anything but banks and brokers that it takes a while to grasp what is going on. The Solution I think that the easiest way to learn how DeFi works is to go and just do it, but I also understand that people aren't always willing to spend money in order to learn how their money is being used. For that reason, I think the most optimal idea is to have a demo version of a DeFi platform that is released and uses demo funds that mirror the real value of the crypto on the live site. A lot of exchanges allow users to trade with demo funds and I think that it could prove wildly beneficial for the DeFi world if more people were allowed to experiment and explore without the risk of losing their investment. Explainer courses would help as well, but as I mentioned, even providing explanations in this field is something quite difficult as the explanations offer require a bit of prior knowledge on crypto or on financial markets. You could argue that point, but with so many buzzwords to know in order to succeed in the DeFi space, I think that a knowledge base is a barrier to entry for most. I like what @khaleelkazi has done from a marketing standpoint with his "number go up always" movement, I think that will be a good buzzword, yet understanding why that number is going up is not so intuitive for someone who has never done something like this before. https://leofinance.io/@khaleelkazi Being early to a movement comes with the responsibility to be able to teach others yet to come. That is what I think is missing from the DeFi movement; a movement that is the future of finance and financial independence. PolyCub - Not Making The Same Mistake Twice Image Source Image Source Article: @finguru https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@finguru/how-to-buy-pleo-and-polycub-on-sushiswap https://leofinance.io/@finguru A Year Ago This time last year, I was showing my friends how wild the returns were on the farms for a new DeFi product called Cub Finance. I had put around $1,000 in (a lot of money for an unemployed college kid) and was in awe as I had doubled it within a few days of having invested. The price of CUB was up huge and I was bringing in more money an hour than I ever had in my life. Then I basically sold it all and walked away with a little satisfaction as the price came down, giving me the false belief that I made the right decision. The mistake that I made back then was so clear, yet so difficult to come to terms to when investing in cryptocurrency projects: **I was more worried about dollar value than the project's long term success.** Though the price of CUB still hasn't reached those monumental highs from the beginning, keeping the investment parked over the course of a year and continually earning farming and den rewards would have had me in a better place now than I was then. After withdrawing I spent that money on dumb things like drinks and parties and now I have none of that initial investment left after the year went by. The mistake that I want to stop making this time around is just as easy to fix as it is to identify: **I need patience**. PolyCub Not only did I miss out on the CUB that would have been generated over a year (at APR's still around 100% in even the least lucrative farms), but I also did not position myself to benefit from the PolyCub airdrop. It was a bit of a stretch to think that Polycub would be trading for large sums while CUB still trades for around 40 cents, but even at a ratio of 1:1 you're essentially doubling your money with this airdrop (I know it doesn't quite work like that, but it is a sizeable chunk). By just holding onto what I had in the past, I would have been in a great position to profit from PolyCub and reap some big gains from the airdrop and subsequent staking. Moving Forward Rather than viewing it as a sob story or a regret, I am owning this situation. I made some poor decisions last year, but have learned quite a bit about what could happen if you are patient with a strong project. This time, I have put what I was able to into Cub Finance and Polycub and will be slowly adding more over the next year rather than looking for a 2x and cash out like I did a year ago. I don't know if PolyCub will end up having the same success as Cub Finance, but it's worth the risk in my book (DYOR). I will be holding on and watching the PolyCub come in even if the short term price heads towards the valuation of a stick of gum, because I really believe that this will pay off long term. I love the xPolyCub system and am interested to see how this kind of innovation plays out on the DeFi front. Typically when people are doing something that nobody else is doing, it is the start of a great innovation (or a flop, but you can never make it if you don't give it a shot!). I am excited to see where this goes and look forward to growing with the community over the next year!
