When Will Hive Be In The Top 100? Coinmarketcap Rankings I know that numbers aren't everything and that there is much more going on than just the value of the project, but I can't help but believe that staying in the top 100 cryptocurrencies would give Hive a huge reputation boost (one it certainly will need to spur future mass adoption. Right now we are ranked 129, and I believe we have been up in the top 100 in the past when we saw some pumps in value. I am also aware that a lot of the projects in the top 100 probably won't be around after a few more years, but nonetheless it feels like a big psychological threshold for outside investment. Bluechip Hive? If the name Hive became synonymous with bluechip cryptocurrency, we would see a lot more cashflow coming in on the outside markets. I am also aware that some people are not so concerned with the outside exchanges because the true value is determined by the content and community strength on chain, but we can't underestimate the impact of the broader crypto community getting onboard even if at first only through a lens of speculative trading. The more advanced and skilled traders will do their research and hopefully we would see many of them signing up on Hive and making accounts. I know that Hive is on a lot of exchanges already, but I think it is very difficult to acquire for US customers (myself included) and that if it were to become available on Coinbase, Kraken, Binance.us, FTX and Crypto.com we would see huge gains in value. I'm not sure what will come next for Hive, but I really hope that one day we can say we were early to one of the best cryptocurrencies in the game. Shorting BioTech Catalysts: A Viable Investment? The Most Volatile Stocks It is my personal opinion that the closest you can get to the cryptocurrency market in the traditional stock market is looking at options plays for IPO's, earnings and catalysts such as those in the biotech industry. For those of you who don't live in the United States, the medical field is a total mess here and there is a ton of bureaucracy in everything from patient care to drug research (I'm sure there are barriers everywhere but they are notoriously bad here in the United States). BioTech Essentially for a drug to come to market it has to go through three phases of testing. The first stage is usually to prove that your drug has a use case at all where the two latter stages are aimed at testing and refining results to ensure safety in a released drug or treatment. On the financial side of things, this presents three huge catalysts for any BioTech company looking to release a drug of their own. Even if the company passes phase one with ease, they may stall out so long in phase 2 or 3 that they run out of money and go bankrupt. When a company releases good results from a phase (noting that they are moving to the next phase) you can see HUGE gains, but if they get stalled or the results don't reach expectations you can see enormous losses within minutes. When noting that only around 23% of biotech companies end up releasing a successful product, it begs the question of whether shorting/buying puts on a BioTech stock about to announce results is a solid investing option. Now of course there are nuances to this and of course you shouldn't go blindly shorting stocks (or even taking advice from me on literally anything) but it is an interesting thought when you think about the fact that the most you can lose from your investment is 100% but there is more upside than that in your returns. My Moves I am playing two catalysts coming up in the next few days just to see how this strategy works out. I'm sure I will end up losing money because I am a terrible trader, but I am interested to see what happens when the results are released. SPPI $1 Put Exp 10/21 BLUE $5 Put Exp 10/21 Please for the love of god don't follow my trades you will almost surely lose money. Tips? Is anyone experienced with BioTech investing? I've only ever lost money, but I was always taking the call option side of things hoping for great results that never came through. Please share what your thought process is. Bitcoin Movement Has Been Terrifying Dumping In The Blink Of An Eye I think that being in the cryptocurrency space for a while now has desensitized me to the volatility that we experience on a regular basis. I'm pretty well adjusted to understand that we can see 5-10% swings over the course of a week or so. With that being said, I'm still not used to seeing enormous down or up candles that happen within minutes that cause huge liquidations on either side. The movement of Bitcoin last night made me thankful to not be doing any leverage trading at the moment because... wow. Within just a few minutes, I watched Bitcoin crash around $1000, that is not something you want to see from the cryptocurrency that we view as the most stable. Now of course there are outside events that cause these price swings separate to just the cryptocurrency market (i.e. wars, recessions, stock market news, etc.) but it just feels like a terrible time to be investing as the uncertainty is so high. I have no idea of this time tomorrow we would have seen a $2000 rise in Bitcoin price, it is certainly possible, but I have completely given up on trying to predict or understand the movements. Long Term Is The Only Way After seeing how crazy things can get on a daily or weekly time frame, it is more apparent than ever just how much safer a long term play is. The odds are in your favor to make a return on your investment holding it for a few years rather than a few days; it is just more difficult because you need patience and discipline (some things I usually lack!). I think that dollar cost averaging is still looking like the most efficient way to shield yourself from devastating crashes like we saw yesterday and will continue to see despite what we may want in the market. Nothing new here to be honest, just another reminder that there is a safer way to be involved in this space. Nothing is guaranteed and advice can really only be given with any quality in retrospect, but I will follow what has worked in the past for others when it comes to my savings because I am an absolutely terrible day trader and I know it! No matter what you want to be doing, make sure you are prepared for more volatility as it doesn't seem like the markets will be getting any more stable in the coming months. Good luck! Back To What I Love - Web 3.0 What A Month Well I can say that since I have gotten a Hive account, this has been my least active month by far. The month began with a huge lack of motivation and I was really having a hard time focusing on pretty much anything. I didn't quite get my dropshipping store off the ground and I was working close to 70 hours between my two jobs. Then I was lucky enough to get a break from it all and take an awesome trip to Spain where I visited Barcelona and Ibiza (I plan on posting about those later on). Now that I'm back, I'll still be getting after it for 70 hours a week (now as a bartender on the side though instead of a restaurant host), but I have this new sense of motivation for seeking out success. After spending a good amount of time partying and such over there, I came to realize that I am finally hitting the age where I want certain stability in my life (not with like getting married haha, but financially and in terms of a plan for the future). Missing Web 3.0. I have genuinely missed reading up on articles here on Hive and on all of the web 3.0 sites that I use regularly. Not everything is life changing of course (including this piece), but the sense of community is real and is a motivating factor for me in terms of getting work done, so I'm happy to be reestablishing that going forward. I unfortunately had to sell of my Splinterlands deck to cover some expenses last month, but I am looking forward to one day getting back to where I was and beyond in that game as I believe it has strong prospects for the future. I think that it is amazing that I was able to use NFT's from a video game to cover expenses in my life and though I am sad to have to start again, it is once again motivating that it is possible to grow a collection from very little and have it make a difference in my life. It's crazy how much can change in a month. The whole feel of the ecosystem is different with Leothreads coming out and other projects making big waves. I look forward to getting @dunksocial running again with the NBA back in just over 40 days now. I am going to try to post something each day on @leofinance as well and seek to learn more on topics in the cryptocurrency and economics space that will hopefully be beneficial for others as well as myself. https://peakd.com/@dunksocial https://peakd.com/@leofinance I'm simply excited to be back, I look forward to reading your stuff! Finally Making Progress! - Facebook Ads Are Active That Was Not Easy Here is a link to my dropshipping store so you can check it out as I build it and grow it through my experiment! Store https://www.seasonalsupplierz.com/ I think that one of the heaviest barriers to entry for anything is the fact that when you first start out there is so much you don't understand. It is not that it is incredibly difficult or that you aren't capable, it's just the fact that it is so new and you have to get comfortable with it before you feel confident in it. I have been pushing off creating my Facebook ads campaign for my dropshipping store because it is not intuitively comfortable to start setting up. In addition to the numerous terms you have to learn, there is a ton of work to be done when connecting your storefront to your ad account and your ad account to your pixel (the tool that allows you to analyze data coming from user traffic), etc. Today, I finally made the decision that I needed to get it done. Not only did I set that goal, but I also went ahead and bought a yearly subscription to Shopify to make sure that I got myself moving. Now that I had a firm monetary investment to go along with the time and effort that I have sunk into learning how to do this, I was ready to sit down and suffer through the setup process to get it moving. Fine Tuning Now the ad set that I was able to release after a ton of grunt work and trial and error working my way through the connections is simply a rough draft. It is a very basic ad set that I plan on fine tuning and adding more descriptive details to. However, to link your accounts, Facebook requires a previous payment to be made. I figured I would kill two birds with one stone by paying $10 to run a very basic ad set to get a baseline of how the most simple ads possible perform for the store while simultaneously linking my accounts by meeting that minimum spending threshold. My ads are very simple as they are just GIFs showing a watermelon slicer and a dog rolling around in a watermelon respectively. I am also not 100% sure that I have set the ads up in an optimal way but that is of course why I am testing them. I plan on watching some Youtube videos later to compare with my results based on how they set their ads up. So far I have spent around a cent per user that saw my ad, while around only 2 users have actually followed through and clicked on it. I will be running this for 24 hours and would be pleasantly surprised to see any sales. What I really want to see is how the ad sets perform with just a small budget and see what the bottom line of performance is. I will then work on some ads that I will make myself and put a lot of effort into while using the data I have acquired from this test to choose my audience and target geographic regions. I am hoping that I see some good engagement even if there is not a sale as it would be a positive reinforcement for me seeing that if I put the work in I will start to see some flow of customers. This exercise is something that a lot of the people I watched on Youtube do as they fine tune and optimize their ad sets. I am also thinking about finding a more optimal product to serve as the one I advertise than my melon cutter fork, but by practicing now I should be in a much better position when I find that product to get some sales out of it. I'll let you all know how things go. It's all a bit scary and new and I may end up losing a few hundred dollars trying, but it is better to give it a shot than to sit around and do nothing and wish I did. Let's see how this test goes! Social Media Ads: Finding An Edge In A Saturated Market Dropshipping Update Hey everyone. Tomorrow I will hopefully be ready to start testing out different dropshipping products using Facebook and hopefully Tik Tok ads and seeing how they go. I plan on starting pretty small to experiment a bit with the different metrics that come back to me and seeing which ads are doing well (if any) before spending more money on them and trying to hit it big with my products. The fear that I have is that there are so many different ads out there already that it may be tough to compete financially within the niches I am choosing. It may lead to a lot of optimization over a decent period of time which will inevitably lead to some short term losses as I try to find what works best. The Metrics That Matter Here are some metrics that really reflect how your Facebook ads are performing: These metrics include: Ad impressions Relevance score Geographical location Audience demographic Cost per Result Video views and Video percentage watched Engagement Result rate Click-through rate Frequency Cost per Conversion Conversion rate Return on Ad Spend (ROAS) So by tracking how your ads are performing using these metrics, you get a good idea of how much money you are getting in return for your ad spend along with where ads are finding success and the demographics that you are finding the most conversions with. I am a complete beginner when it comes to this, so it will be interesting to me to see how long it takes to find some ads that are performing optimally. I am going into this ok with failing because I truly don't have much of an idea what I'm doing beyond what I've watched in some Youtube videos. In the past I have become discouraged when not immediately finding success, so this will be a challenge, but I really do think that digital marketing and sales are the future and that dropshipping and other ecommerce businesses are set to thrive in the years ahead. Let's hope I can see some profits and some decent performing ads in the next couple of weeks! Thanks for reading. Dropshipping Update: Product Pages Update Hey everyone. I haven't been able to post nearly as much as I would have wanted to over the last few days. I am still quite behind on a lot of things including @dunksocial and even on my side business relating to nightlife because I have been working around 65 hours a week for the last two weeks now. No excuses though, I could still be doing more with my free time even if I'm a bit worn down, so I will be continuing to do what I can and going after it with more motivation than I have the last two weeks. https://peakd.com/@dunksocial Dropshipping One thing that I have just gotten back to working hard on is my dropshipping side hustle. I think that the Youtube videos I've watched have really undersold how much work it is to get off the ground, and likely have provided non-attainable/ unrealistic goals regarding profits when you first start, but regardless it is most definitely possible to make money dropshipping. I thought I would share a little update of what my store is looking like by showing a sample product page that I have put together. The product page is the most important page for your store because it is where you will direct traffic from your advertisements. Here is a look down one of my product pages. It is a fork that allows you to cut a melon or other fruit pretty easily. It has a huge markup as I am getting each unit for around $3-$4 and seeking to flip it for around $13, hopefully I am able to get some traction for it when I start doing my ads as I have seen the product all over Instagram lately. The guys I watch on Youtube recommend structuring a product page like this because the gifs and pictures grab the attention of a user well when they see the benefits highlighted right before and after in bigger font. I will continue to share how I do and will hopefully be running ads by the end of the week after I put together three more product pages. I wanted to get five solid products total because I want the store to seem official and not just carry one trending product. Additionally there are apps you can install such as frequently bought together that I hope will lead to some increased sales! If you have any questions about dropshipping check out AC Hampton on Youtube or ask me (though I am of course no expert). Good luck with all your side hustles and goals! My Most Expensive NFT Purchase Ever ($750) The Return Of Limewire For those of you that aren't familiar, LimeWire was a music streaming/downloading service that existed during the early days of the internet before things like Spotify and Apple Music. They were notorious for hooking you up with the music you wanted and maybe a few viruses that you didn't want on your computer. Nonetheless, they were a huge name and have been involved in good and bad controversy ever since their inception. Despite a long hiatus, Limewire is not dead. In fact, they are back and doing something totally different with their platform than could have ever been imagined during their early days: They are becoming an NFT marketplace for music, film and other media. My Involvement So at first, I saw this and didn't think much of it because I am always wary of NFT projects. If it doesn't have a real utility or cause behind it, I really don't want to be involved. However, I am taking a trip to Ibiza in Spain later this summer and am going to be going to a Calvin Harris concert at a beach club called Ushuaia. As a result, I am subscribed to their newsletter and get regular updates from the club. Well as luck would have it, Ushuaia has just become the second venue in the world to partner with... you guessed it... LimeWire. They will be offering free admission to all events at the club for the remainder of the 2022 season if you purchase and hold a LimeWire Original NFT. Seeing that I bought two tickets for that concert at $120 each, I was intrigued to find out how much it would cost for a mega ticket for all shows for the summer. Pricing Well it wasn't cheap. Each Limewire original mint is going for $750 right now. It was by no means an easy buy for me, but I was able to move some funds around and get in on this thing. Now, if the NFT turns out to only be valid at Ushuaia for this summer because it flops, then I've burnt the money. However, after reading the whitepaper, I think that the sky is the limit for this project. They are seeking out partnerships with luxury clubs and concert venues all around the world and partnering with artists like Soulja Boy, Ozuna, DJ Snake and Nicki Minaj to produce NFT collections and private events for holders of LimeWire NFTs. If the project were to take off and say 15 venues held events throughout the year around the world, you'd be paying $750 to some of the most exclusive music events in the world. Additionally, if that were the case and there were only 10,000 of the originals... well they'd probably be a bit more valuable than $750. So I went ahead and got mine and now I'll have a few extra tickets to give out to some friends that I may make while exploring the island of Ibiza. I was willing to take the risk on this one, but by no means am I an ambassador. On that same note, they did provide an invite link so that others can purchase the NFT mint without having to join a waitlist, but I don't believe that I am financially benefitting in any way from it. I'll share it below just in case someone believes in the concept and I'll share a link to the whitepaper. Once again this is not financial advice and this project may never get off the ground. I am personally getting involved but by no means is this a recommendation to do so yourself! https://limewire.com/originals Mint List via Ushuaia Ibiza: https://og.limewire.com/invite?code=D239915E Come talk basketball on Dunk Social! https://dunksocial.io/ **Links and Connections:** Join me on Splinterlands exploring blockchain gaming Get paid for your search results with Presearch Follow me on Twitter/Instagram: @ Rob_Minnick23 Hive: @ rob23 NEW TRIBE: @dunksocial Join me on Torum Check out Cake DeFi for staking rewards Bitcoin Cash Apps: @ rob23 Join me on Publish0x to talk crypto https://splinterlands.com/?ref=rob23hive https://presearch.org/signup?rid=1992127 https://peakd.com/@dunksocial https://www.torum.com/signup?referral_code=robminnick23 https://pool.cakedefi.com/#?ref=187314 https://www.publish0x.com/?a=M7e587xqd2 **Who I am:** My name is Rob and I am a financial analyst with interests in cryptocurrency and blockchain. Restaurant Work = Not Easy / My Stock Option To Watch A Long Weekend So this weekend I started my new job working at a Japanese BBQ restaurant near where I live, and let me tell you I am exhausted. I'm almost thankful to be sitting in front of a computer for my regular day job now haha. I think that what people don't realize is that even if the things that are being done at a restaurant are "easy" once you get the hang of it (i.e. setting up the tables or managing where to seat guests), the repetition of it over a long period of time coupled with constantly being on the move or standing up leads to an exhausting experience. After standing up for 10 hours, you realize just how exhausted you actually are when you finally sit down. Overall though it's actually a really nice environment and the people working there seem to get along very well with one another. Seeing that it is not my main source of income, it is not a stressful situation for me and I'm just taking my time getting into the flow of things without worrying if I'm doing it perfectly. I don't know if I want to put 30 hours in every week like I just did, but picking up a quick 20 is something that I could see myself doing for a while while I get some of my ideas off the ground. Next time you go to a restaurant, make sure you are kind to the people working there, because no doubt they are exhausted! Trading Update I have cooled down with my leverage trading as it was just me torching money picking the markets wrong, but I have decided to make a small investment in a stock - Intel. It must be clear by now that I am by no means a professional or even a good trader, but I did find some news that intrigued me enough to take a little position in the company. Basically my reasoning was that the United States Senate is about to be voting on a law that will provide over 50 billion dollars in subsidies to chipmaking companies looking to produce semiconductors in the United States. Along with that, shady Nancy Pelosi's husband just opened a monster position in the company and a few others knowing that this news was coming up soon. Of course, the US government could stall out and this bill could go nowhere like most of the policies in our country, but it is becoming quite apparent that China and other nations are focusing on things like semiconductors and we are slowly being left behind. Knowing how important computers are and will continue to be for society, it is a cash cow that I don't see going anywhere, and must (in my opinion) be something that the government would like to maintain a competitive chance in. Invest carefully and do your own research, because I am usually wrong. I'll have a dropshipping post coming soon, I didn't get to work on it quite as much as I'd like, but I did drop the money to get a yearly subscription to Shopify, so I'm in this for the long haul. Dropshipping Update + 1st Day On The Job Dropshipping I am working on my product pages right now for my dropshipping business. Essentially when someone clicks on my ads on Facebook or Tik Tok, I will have them land on my product page so they are just a click away from making a purchase. For that reason, the product pages are actually more important to your business than your home page (though you need to have a good one as well). I have narrowed my product-offerings down to 5 items that I believe have a summer connotation and will be aiming to have ads running for those products by the end of the weekend. I am not expecting to be profitable right off the bat, but these products contain a wow-factor that I believe could have traffic continuing to pour in if I advertise and price correctly. I'll share a link to my store when it is fully operational and share the amount of success that I have and you can use the template yourselves if you like it! New Job Today is also my first day working my second job! I will be hosting at a Japanese BBQ restaurant close to where I live and will hopefully be able to learn how to do it pretty quickly. Back in my early college days I worked at an Applebees during one summer and that was not the best experience... yet it prepared me to be able to host at restaurants in the future so I guess I should thank them? For those of you who are not American, restaurants have a way of getting very cheap labor from most of the staff because the entire industry is based around tips. On one hand it is a positive that you can earn more if you are good at your job, but on the other hand being "good" is subjective based on each person coming into your restaurant and your earnings can take a hit due to any number of reasons. This practice goes back hundreds of years to when slaves were freed in America and wanted to be able to work for a living. Restaurants would let them work for tips and not pay them anything, often resulting in subpar earnings. Of course now there is a base pay, but it is nothing to write home about. Luckily I am doing this as a part time job and know that my other job will provide a steady income stream, so I don't have much to complain about, but it is such a bad practice to be continuing as a nation. Anyhow, that is just the way things are and I am excited to get to business and start earning a little bit on the side. I have a plan to get myself in a good financial position in a few months and am excited to share that progress. I'm done making self-inflicted errors in my finances and have a clear path to success. Let's get after it. Earning $100 Extra A Day... New Goals [Image Source](https://www.dreamstime.com/stock-illustration-second-income-money-falling-side-job-work-earn-more-cash-words-around-person-to-illustrate-secondary-to-revenue-image41319111) Margins Getting Tight With the bear market and my propensity in the past to waste money trying to get rich quick, I have found myself in a bit of a financial bind. Though there is a clear path to recovering and there is no immediate pressure to get money one place or another, I have to get moving on the situation and I can't afford to make it much worse. I am picking up a second job in addition to working on side projects such as the dropshipping business (more on that soon), my app and @dunksocial. I have come to the conclusion that if I am to generate $100 or more a day in income separate from my main full-time job, I will be in a great financial position within a few months time... and by that I mean not in debt, by no means would I be rich haha. https://peakd.com/@dunksocial How To Get It Done In my opinion there are tons of ways you can generate around $100 a day. My plan is to work an extra job for four of the days and so I need to make sure I am finding a way to make a few $ on the other three days of the week while I am building my businesses (as they won't be profitable right away). I have been lacking the motivation to get on the grind and really hustle, but now that my back is up against the wall a bit more than in the past, I am motivated to at least get that done. Back when I was gambling, the biggest rush that you could get other than hitting it big was coming up with a way to recover when you were down on the night. Going from a thousand dollars in the hole to breaking even was a feeling of redemption that actually made losing more tolerable in the short term knowing it could be around the corner. This is sort of like that in a way... At least in the motivating sense, as I am now on the grind to get back to where I was a few months ago and can see exactly how to do it. Other Ways To Make Money On The Side I am going to be looking to use my teaching certificate (a TEFL certificate) to teach English on the side, so I will be looking for ways to use that and try to find a recurring lesson I can tutor weekly. I used to be someone who would use Uber Eats or other delivery services to make a few sales on the side, but I don't have my car anymore because I moved to the city and left it with my family back in the suburbs, so that is out for me. I am going to continue blogging on web 3.0, but I think that the money I make here will be reinvested and continue to grow so I am not sure it is what I need in the short-term. I've checked out things like Fiverr and Upwork, but don't know that I have that many marketable skills for piecework. Reporting and Accountability I am lucky that I should only need to fill a few nights of the week seeing that I am hopefully picking up this second job later today, but I do want to make sure that I am not slacking. For that reason, I will be publishing a weekly update every Friday on how much I was able to bring in from my side jobs from the previous week with the goal of making $700 each week. I hope that you guys will enjoy the updates as they will keep me accountable and maybe they will give some ideas on what you can do to make a little extra money during these times of getting absolutely destroyed by everything crypto. Reducing Risk In My Side Hustle Avoiding Mistakes I have written a lot in the past about how I have struggled with issues related to gambling. To be honest, trading and doing short-term moves in the cryptocurrency market is not all that much different from making a wager on a game or playing a hand of blackjack in a casino. Though we'd like to think we have some more control or know what we are doing in terms of making informed decisions, the truth is that markets are irrational and unpredictable. I have taken more than my fair share of short term losses in the cryptocurrency market and even had some lately that I am finding myself to be quite unhappy with as I said I would cool down with that. I wouldn't necessarily say that it was a full or even part time thing for me to be doing trading, but the money that I have earned from it before taking losses was certainly helpful for me. I think it is time to make a change and I have found an idea that I find pretty interesting (as well as hopefully being a consistent source of income). A New Approach I have been reading up on this topic and believe that it is where I would like to pursue my niche. **Dropshipping** This is when you move (goods) from the manufacturer directly to the retailer without going through the usual distribution channels. Essentially you are selling products for a retailer like Amazon, Ebay, etc. and you are passing on the order directly to a third partly fulfillment supplier and pocketing the difference in cost. People on Youtube often tout this as a get rich quick thing where you can make massive amounts of passive income. I don't expect that this will be something that will be accomplished quickly, but I do think that it has the potential to be a valid source of passive income if done right and if I am able to find products that I can compete in. There is still a ton for me to learn before finding any type of success with this, but I am getting after it immediately and am going to try to generate some cash flow that I can't lose like I can when Bitcoin makes a surprise move the opposite way analysts predict. Juggling Other Commitments I plan on working on this dropshipping store in tangent to working my full time job and working on my side projects (DUNK and my nightlife app). It will be a bit difficult and tiring to work on everything, but I have been working to just a fraction of the potential that I am capable of achieving and know that I am able to get all of this done if I am organized and committed (two things I haven't been). I'm excited to get this going and hope to share that process as well as dropshipping is something that I believe a lot of people would be interested in doing if they were able to do it well. Back And Ready To Build I'm Back Hey everyone, I've been away for a few weeks with the family and have also been a bit distracted with things happening offline. Since I last posted, things have not seemed to have gotten much better with the markets or the world economy as a whole, but I hope that it hasn't been too unkind to you in terms of losses or downswings. Building Time I am in the midst of working on a really exciting project still that is off the blockchain (though one day could be implemented if the project is successful in the entrepreneurial sense first). I can't give away too much about it because I am in the midst of working out patents, trademarks and other legal things, but I am hoping that the app will be a game changer in the industry it seeks to improve: the nightlife industry. I've gone through dozens of career trajectory changes and different projects, but I have always loved the vibe of the nightlife industry and believe that I can do things in that industry better than they are currently being done. The concept of a night out hasn't changed all that much over the course of modern history, I'm seeking out a way to optimize this and change the way people plan out and participate in a fun night out. More to come on this once everything is finalized, but unless you are living in the Philadelphia area of the United States, you may not be too involved with the early rounds of this project... Though I hope my app will be one that can be utilized worldwide by the time I am done having it developed and planned out. I'll be updating everyone on the funding process as well because from the entrepreneurial side it can be quite intimidating to seek out funding, especially seed funding for a project with no track record. If I experience anything useful, I'll be sure to share it with the communities that have given me so much knowledge and engagement over the last year and a half. Dunk Social Updates For those of you who are still waiting to receive some DUNK payments from the last few months of contests, I have not forgotten about you! I've been working a little bit each day doing calculations on who won each contest and I should start sending some DUNK out soon. You will get everything you were promised so don't worry. I think that the last year or so has proven that it takes a ton of effort to manage a community and keep it active. I've personally slacked on those fronts and I will apologize for that, it's been a rough time in my life and I have been doing what I can but am by no means reaching my full potential in the projects I've pursued. I am not giving up on Dunk Social and will be continuing to grind on it next NBA season. Additionally I am still interested in expanding the community to engage in fantasy sports, and will hopefully be more financially ready by the time next season rolls around to work on that implementation! For those who have stuck around, thank you and I really appreciate you. I hope to deliver on that front. The Dangers Of Trading The Fed Hey everyone... That was rough haha. So basically what happened to me is that no matter which side of the coin I tried to play short term, I took a loss. My crypto outlook hasn't changed in the sense that I am in it for the long haul, but in regards to the stock market, I figured that things were likely to trend down and so I set myself up accordingly. The Dangers Of Trading The Fed Well... I was completely foolish yesterday. Not with the amount of money I was risking or the trades I had actually chosen to position myself with, but I was completely reactionary. I made so many knee jerk decisions based on the words of Jerome Powell that I ended up shooting myself in the foot as the opposite of what I expected continued to happen. Of course today, the markets are reflecting what I believed that they should have yesterday, but my compulsive reactions caused me to trade out of the positions that would have ended up yielding some pretty solid gains. It was a very hard lesson to swallow because in the end I was right, but my lack of confidence and knowledge in the area that I was trying to navigate led me to make some ill-advised moves. I think that if you are like me and have a general understanding of things, but are by no means an expert, you are in a dangerous position. It's Always Priced In I am not sure why I figured that I knew what the market was going to do based on a few words, because realistically anything that could have been said in that Fed meeting yesterday was already priced into the markets. Thinking that you know more than the rest of the markets is a blind-confidence that can walk you right into blowing your investments. I think I need to realize that I am not Michael Burry running technical analyses and models showing why my thesis is correct and really I am just taking an educated guess based on logic... Well the markets are simply not logical. I will be stacking crypto, but doing my best to stay away from traditional stocks and bonds because I simply just don't have enough knowledge to say what will go up and down. Of course I also don't know this in the crypto space, but what I do know is what the technology is capable of doing and believe that it could play a very important role in the future of the internet and how human beings interact and transact. I'm sticking to what I know and not doing day trading and reactionary moves anymore. I simply can't win doing it! Not A Profitable Day Cliffdiving Well I guess we are really going to find out who is in it for the long haul now. I thought that this type of dip would only be found in nightmares or on Wojak memes on Twitter and Youtube, yet here we are. To see Bitcoin dropping wildly like it's an altcoin is just insanity. I know that we have seen some huge volatility swings during the lifetime of the asset, but being that we are seeing more plumbing than ever before being laid to support the asset and the ecosystem at large, it feels really bad to see the market leader diving off a cliff like this. I am just in a state of shock over this situation. I know that we aren't completely dead, but there is a ton of negativity floating around the internet today. Nothing has necessarily changed except for USD valuation and we are absolutely heading into a recession, but I just wasn't quite expecting a huge dump day like this one. Why You Shouldn't Panic Sell I think that selling now would be just a useless idea. You'd be booking a major loss and with the economy at large heading down, there's not really a better place to park your money in my opinion unless you want to put a lot of trust in the FED and buy treasury bonds (a risky play as well in my opinion). If you don't know exactly what you'd want to do with the money, I am of the mindset to ride out the waves and try to accumulate and bring down your average cost. Of course do your own research, but I plan on stacking some assets over the next week, despite the fact that I believe we have further downside to experience over the next few months. Looking Forward In positive news, I have seen a ton of stuff about a BTC ETF getting approved soon in America and if that is the case there will be millions of potential new investors. At depressed prices, people may be interested in the ETF expecting a rebound when people are getting back into risk assets a few months/years down the road. For now, I'll continue being broke, but not diverting from my plan. It does absolutely suck, but hey... Maybe it'll work out in the end. Good luck people. Ignorance Is Bliss Oh Man Well, I saw today that inflation in the United States is reaching levels that it has never seen before... So for that reason, I decided I shouldn't be looking at the performance of any of my portfolios (stocks and crypto). Everything is absolutely crashing right now, as one could expect seeing that the economy is on the way to a major collapse. I think that this will likely last for a fair amount of time and that the investments that we have made may suffer in the short term as people move away from risk assets. Bitcoin Still Seen As A Risk Asset It's still a bit of a mental divide between the average investor and the crypto believer. People see Bitcoin as a speculative asset due to the huge fluctuations in price that we've experienced (a valid assumption honestly) whereas a lot of us see Bitcoin as a hedge against inflation because we understand the trajectory of how it was designed. Due to the fact a lot more people see it as speculation than as a financial haven, we are seeing Bitcoin move along with the rest of the economy at large and we are seeing some major downturns with this looming recession. I hate that this is the case, but right now it feels like all bull-investors are in the same boat across the board right now. What To Do? I honestly don't think there's anything that can be done but try to either trade bearish or stack assets. I am a terrible trader, so for me personally I am ignoring this mess and just waiting until I have some money that I can stack some more BTC, LINK, RUNE, HIVE and some stocks with. When life gives you lemons, just ignore them and continue doing what you were planning on doing anyways... Not as catchy as the original, but I still like the sentiment. I deleted my stock apps and my crypto portfolio trackers so that I could have some positive energy in the midst of financial chaos. I think that if you are planning on holding long term, this is a beneficial thing to do so you don't make short term impulsive decisions. I would consider that sound financial advice... Well, that's all I got, stay positive people we will make it. Dreams To Reality - Easier Than Ever Before Developers Everywhere I recently wrote about how I am working on a new app with one of my friends off the blockchain. This app is seeking to do something quite innovative in the nightlife and restaurant industries, and so when working on what the app would need to include, we figured it would be tough to find an IOS developer that could understand the exact vision... We were so wrong it is comical. I used Upwork (a freelance service site) last night to post a job offer for the position at what I thought was a bit of a lowball price range. I went to bed and was hoping that the next day I would see one or two offers come through... We got 123 offers in less than 12 hours. Not only did we receive offers at our price point, but we also got a ton of offers well below that point. Of course now there will be a lot of work that needs to get done reviewing and interviewing shortlisted candidates, but it feels so good to see that the vision can become a reality much faster and easier than anticipated. Mobilizing A Business Plan The hardest part of all of this so far has honestly just been getting the ball rolling and starting up. We came up with the concept and formulated a plan to get some of the legal and financial documents together and have so far been underperforming our goals. The idea yesterday was that if we can get a developer on the team, there will be the implication that we need to get our plan in gear and start working much harder to match the pace of the dev. Since we are planning to pay in milestones rather than by the hour, the dev will likely be working at a pretty fast pace to get things done as it is in the best interest of their own time. We still need to finalize the business plan and most importantly present a pitchdeck for small scale angel investors. We have found a few websites that are similar to crowdsourcing, but for small to medium scale angel investors looking to get involved with disruptive-tech ventures. Seeing this mass response from devs has made us motivated to continue working and to really put in some effort with this project. I am excited to keep you all in the loop and create a product that will hopefully change the lives of many in the industry where I've found myself feeling the most at home! Is SPS Nearing It's Bottom? I had a few dollars today that I wanted to invest into crypto and I was thinking about which of my holdings to stack and I came to the conclusion that the prices of SPS were simply too low to pass up on right now. The History of SPS Since the token was released, it has seen a pretty straightforward path for a cryptocurrency. A huge burst followed by a crash and then steady gains that then began trending down as the market itself slipped into a bear market. Additionally, SPS has been increasing in supply each day as there has been a 365 day long airdrop going on for holders of Splinterlands assets. The token is being used to enter certain contests, purchase special event drops and will theoretically form into a governance token of sorts for the ecosystem. Though it is a pretty new token, it has quickly become an integral part of the game and is an important factor in earnings as well as the token can be staked for just under 50% APR. The Future of SPS Well the end of the airdrop is approaching rapidly as there are less than 50 days left on the drop. When that point is reached, significantly fewer SPS will be introduced to the ecosystem and the token should begin to appreciate in value if the use cases remain integral to the game and people hold a belief in the team pushing the token. I think that with the token being available for less than 8 cents, we really shouldn't expect much more downside, and any downside we do see should theoretically be gained back when the airdrop begins to settle down. I wouldn't take this as financial advice, but I am a believer in Splinterlands and have seen what other games have done with their governance tokens. For me, it is a hard token to stay away from knowing the potential that it holds for enormous gains (though they are of course not guaranteed). I've done my best to stack assets lately and was able to increase my daily airdrop by 20%, so I'm happy to be building a nice bag of SPS and want to add to it when I get an opportunity like I have today! What do you think the future of SPS is? Let me know in the comments! We're Bound To Get One Right... Right? Trading Sideways On days where nothing is really moving too much and the value of your holdings is staying roughly stagnant, it seems easy to feel unsure or have a sense of anxiousness over the validity of your investment. When it's going up consistently it's easy to feel good. When it's going down consistently you can panic or average out your purchase costs. However, this middle ground is the most frustrating to me because there is no clear way of going about it, everyone has to plan themselves. What I love most about web 3.0 blogging is putting my opinion out there and hearing just how different an approach someone else is taking/thinks is ideal. Some people think that diversification is a good thing and others think it is a bad way to spread out the potential to make life changing gains. As a result of these discussions, I find myself thinking a lot on the sideways trading days about how much I should diversify my purchases. I feel like if we pick 100 different things we're bound to get a few of them right, but we wouldn't be able to maximize potential as finite resources would be spread out. Likewise, if we only choose to invest in a few things, we could easily miss the rocketship on a few assets we passed up on in favor of another. The ironic reality is that no matter what we do, someone will always have done/positioned better and made a larger gain. We have to be confident in ourselves even if it feels like we might have chosen the wrong horse on those stagnant days. This bear market is testing my patience which is something that I have struggled with in the past. This is the best I've ever done at holding onto my assets, so I really hope I can see it pay off like it would have in the past if I had done the same then. I'm only in about 8 different assets with a significant stake and I feel as if that is probably the top of the range when trying to maximize potential. Of those 8 assets, the top 4 make up roughly 80% of the total portfolio, so I'm thinking I am swinging for the fences with those guys. Hopefully I got one of them right and hopefully I won't have to wait until I'm on my death bed to realize some of the gains! Insane Room To Grow Linking Crypto And Traditional Business The total market cap of cryptocurrencies is $1,287,064,205,079 as of the time I am writing this. The market cap of all the economies in the world is estimated to be roughly 93,860,000,000,000 or 93.8 trillion USD. That makes the world economy roughly 73.92x the value of the cryptocurrency market. I offer up these numbers to illustrate just how important it is for cryptocurrencies to continue to combine forces with real world businesses and tap into the world economy as much as possible. I have written in the past about how I formulate this could happen, and at the end of the day I keep reaching the same conclusion: oracles. Oracles And Conveience I think that society likes to change only when the change makes life more convenient even if a less convenient change would lead more positive results. A perfect example of this is web 2.0 versus web3. Web3 users know that having the ability to monetize your art and opinions directly without mass oversight from a centralized source is an awesome development in user autonomy. At the same time, it is hard to beat how convenient and addicting Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Tik Tok are. Since they have the first user advantage I find it unlikely we see a move away from them until web 3.0 becomes much more user-friendly (which it has consistently gotten since I have started using it). This example leads me to the point that I want to make with this article. I believe that the true leader in making cryptocurrency a mainstream part of the world economy will be the one that combines directly with the existing and "convenient" systems. Thus, I think that the cryptocurrency that will make the biggest impact is the one that will employ the use of oracles to implement smart contracts into existing platforms. The token I think will accomplish this (as I've said) is Chainlink, which is why I have been stacking it tirelessly over the last few months. Chainlink is grossly undervalued in my opinion because of it's ability to seamlessly integrate and provide blockchain data to traditional sources and vice versa. Right now, Chainlink is trading around $8, down bad from it's ATH of $52.88 (though most of the market can say the same). That is a huge jump that is bound to happen IMO as we see Chainlink continue to secure protocol integrations with huge financial conglomerates along with businesses of every type. If you haven't given it a look, I recommend checking the token out and just seeing for yourself what I am finding to be a glaringly obvious reality. Convenience will win the first battle in the transition of societal thinking. Nobody wants to do something that is hard, so choose the tokens that are going to make things easier. When Do You Want To See A Bull Market? How Long Is Long Enough? I don't have all that much to say today, it's a slow Sunday over here and I'm just thinking about how things are looking and what the future may hold. I see that today the markets have flipped green and some gains are being made. It isn't anything crazy, but it does feel like a moral victory to see investments trending in the right direction. I understand that having a bear market allows for a better period of accumulation, but it is nice to see some validation that your investments weren't completely ill-advised or misguided by seeing a day or two in the green. I've written in the past about how I switched to a 2025 view as my point in which I would consider starting to sell the holdings that I will be building on a weekly basis until then. Thus, for me I wouldn't mind spending another year or two trading a bit stagnantly, but I know that this would be a bad thing as people may seek to get involved with other asset types instead at that point. Things feel a bit psychological to me as I think a lot of people enjoy the volatility that cryptocurrency has to offer yet also fear it at the same time. The massive price swings we have become accustomed to are what drives demand for crypto and the different derivatives that can be traded and speculated on. In a bear market, this still holds true, but for the long term believer things can feel a bit depressing seeing your holdings continuously depreciate in USD value. I'm ignoring my holdings for the most part but have an ingrained habit of seeing what is going on in the market and thus have a pretty good idea of which direction my portfolio is trending. There doesn't seem to be a right way of going about this and people make and lose huge sums doing thousands of different things. At the end of the day this is all crazy stuff that is impossible to fully understand. Embrace the madness and enjoy the ups when they come because there will surely be some downs on the way as well! Splinterlands Is Not Easy Making the move to Gold III Wow... People are really really good at this game. When battling in the silver leagues it isn't quite apparent to you how much strategy is needed to move up; you can usually just throw a few tough monsters out and find yourself with the win in the end a lot of the time. That is completely out the door at the higher levels. People are insanely creative and talented with this game, it's actually kind of awesome. I'm using a ton of rentals and still getting absolutely demolished by players more often than I am winning. I think my win rate has probably dropped from around 70% to down around 45%, an enormous swing in this game. The New Concept Is Awesome I wrote about it the other day, but it cannot be harped on enough how good this update was for gameplay. I have a consistent reason to keep battling as I am trying to stack season and quest chests each time I field a team. It keeps me engaged and keeps me coming back all day long. I hope that this update inspires some lower tiered players (like myself) to make the push to stack some assets and move forward. I moved up to gold by paying up and I am not regretting it thus far. My goal is still to try to max out a deck and then one day be able to buy something significant with my Splinterlands earnings (or even sell the deck in the distant future and rebuild all over again). I really enjoy getting to use all these great cards, but there are just so many abilities to try to factor in that it is just about impossible to ever perfect this game. I think that when land comes out and they add more levels to the gameplay such as the use of items or spells my mind will explode. My luck is that I'll finally get pretty good right around the time that these updates finally roll out and I'll have to relearn the whole game. Rewarding Hard Work Lastly, I want to say that I love the fact that anyone can go and earn more chests at any level and it is no longer a set amount tethered to the league you are in. People want to play to earn and this gives them the opportunity to actually follow through on that and continuously earn and have their efforts fairly rewarded. What are your end goals with Splinterlands? Until recently I really didn't have one and was just playing the game, but after this update I feel like I am more passionate about the game and the future of the game economy. How Much Of Trading Is Just Dumb Luck? Today I was able to stack a good amount of crypto-assets. I bought some BTC and pumped my Splinterlands collection over the 100,000 CP point for the very first time (which I am hype about but didn't want to post about for the third day in a row). I also took a small bit of money and bought into RUNE on leverage (despite the fact I said I wouldn't do it again) and am watching it slowly creep into the green. What Was My Strategy? Well honestly there was very little strategy employed at all here. I saw that prices were dipping to a 24 hour low and decided that I would buy in hoping that it would turn around. In the short term it has, but of course playing with leverage one bad break could liquidate you. This got me thinking though... If I was able to make a profitable trade, just how much of trading is actually dumb luck? I am referring to trading in this sense as day trading or other short term trades. I see Tik Tokers and Youtubers hyping up their trading strategies that have netted them huge gains and I am wondering whether or not a baboon would have eventually made the same gains as them by employing random trading strategies. Do Signals Actually Mean Anything? There are thousands of successful traders that stand by the concept that they employ the use of indicators such as moving averages, volume analysis, supply/demand and more to be able to make profit consistently. If they are doing that and actually making gains then all credit to them, I'm impressed. It feels like the basic human tendency is to try to make logic out of that which we don't understand, and I believe that the markets are a perfect representation of this. I truly believe that markets are nearly completely irrational despite the popular belief that markets are a reflection of their mostly rational participants. It is this human instinct though that leads us to attribute value to different trading signals and indicators. Though there may be decent correlations, there is always that disclaimer that past performance will not predict future performance, and to me these signals are needle the haystack types of things. When it comes to short term trading, I simply can't believe anything other than it is almost completely random based on what people believe other people will think about what other people will think, etc. when it comes to valuation. It is entirely subjective in my opinion and thus trading signals that seek objectivity are just not cutting it for me. Nonetheless, trading is fun when done within reason and watching the price fluctuations can lead to huge gains (or losses) depending on how lucky you are in an unpredictable market. That's my rant on irrational markets... Splinterlands Rentals Are Way Too Cheap Insanity I just got assigned a new focus this morning by my 24 hour quest after doing alright with an earth splinter focus. My new focus was fire and so I took to the rental market to see if I could bolster my squad and try to rack up some points. This is the first time in a while that I have used the rental market and it is just insane how cheap everything is right now. It's almost like getting free cards. I believe that I spent around 7 cents to get 10 cards... That is just pure insanity. The one that shocked me the most was the cost for borrowing a Yodin Zaku. In the past, I have seen people paying well over a dollar a day to use this beast of a summoner... For less than TWO CENTS you can rent Yodin for a day... I don't know anything in the world that you can still get for 2 cents other than thing in the crypto world of course, but come on. A Trade Off? Well on one hand, this downturn in rental value is a great thing for players looking to maximize the new system and earn as many rewards as possible via the quest focus. However, the fact that cards have less passive income associated with them can be seen as a bit of a hit to the overall value of the market. I believe that we will eventually see a rebound in the rental markets, but I am a bit unsure as to what the catalyst will be. In the short term I am enjoying the cards, but I know that in the long term my goal is to create a max deck and then rent out cards to others (a very lofty goal financially of course). What do you all think? Do you like the cheap rentals or do you think it has been a tough blow to the game economy? The Splinterlands Update We Desperately Needed Quests One thing that I have always thought about Splinterlands was that there was not all that much to do after you've hit your daily quest requirements at lower leagues. Of course you can play and get enjoyment from the game itself, but in the past, the earnings were small and the competition was often not so tough when you could freestyle which splinter you wanted to use. I absolutely love this new format with the elemental focus. Having to use the same splinter when your enemy can basically expect you are going to be coming into the battle with it presents a wild challenge in finding small differences to employ between your teams you field from match to match. Additionally, you can battle with a purpose for much longer as you are not only trying to stack points for your daily quest to get to the maximum earnings, but also adding points towards your season end rewards. Now every battle actually does matter and helps you progress towards a tangible goal that is more than just a few DEC. Season End Rewards Another issue that I previously with the game that was now solved by the @splinterlands team was that season end rewards were capped. Once you progressed to the maximum league that you were allowed by your power, you really had little incentive to continue battling past the daily quest unless you were gunning for a top spot to earn DEC rewards. https://leofinance.io/@splinterlands With this new update, you can keep battling to get all the way up to 150 rewards chests for season end at the silver league. This number looks to be wildly difficult to achieve as well as I probably played for a few hours yesterday and have only hit 4 season end chests! My one fear for the game in essence was that it had become a goal oriented game where you just had to get in, do your job and then leave to basically maximize value. This update provides a shot of adrenaline to the ecosystem as players will need to actively engage with the game for longer periods to reap solid rewards. It is inspiring a system of player loyalty and rewards those who are successful players investing time and money into the ecosystem. This was a huge step in the right direction for our game. A Long Weekend - Bitcoin Matching Paid Off Image Source https://holidayweekend.bandcamp.com/album/holiday-weekend I'm Broke Well I am officially broke... In US Dollars. I stuck with my original plan of attempting to match purchases I make on nightlife with purchases of Bitcoin. What I failed to realize is that there was a four night holiday weekend coming up that we would be spending in a beach town and absolutely destroying our bank accounts hitting the bars. The good news is that I was able to match for probably over 50% of the purchases that I made (a number so high it gives me a headache thinking of it). The bad news is that it made me realize that I definitely need to slow down on spending, especially on regular weeks. BTC On The Rise I was able to stack some sats each night from Thursday to Sunday and that felt great when BTC made the move from 28k to over 31k and I saw that the investment was already starting to grow. It is a bit of a disappointment that the market is still almost entirely tethered to the performance of Bitcoin, though it is understandable because of the level of dominance it has in the market. With that being said, the goal has to be stacking sats at least for the medium term. Eventually one day that dominance will head towards zero (at least I believe it is as use cases for cryptocurrency fully solidify in the financial sectors) but until that happens we just need to be aware of macro-fluctuations in the market based on our big orange friend. What's Next Well... For the next 2 months I think that the thought of having a drink is going to have me feeling sick, so I'll view this weekend as a convoluted investment in my future spending habits! No matter what you end up doing, as long as you are making some memories and enjoying life, that is enough in my book. Of course that can be optimized and budgeted, but we're only going to live once, remember to enjoy it while on the way to the goals you are pursuing. Difficult But Rewarding BTC Savings Experiment I was formulating ways to increase the amount of Bitcoin I was able to stack and came to a spending conclusion that could prove to be quite rewarding over a long stretch... Though difficult. The Idea Well basically, I was thinking that if I were able to have purchased Bitcoin with all the money that I spend on food, drinks and entertainment, I would be in a pretty good spot with stacking sats. That inspired me to come to the idea that I would have to match my spending on these things with an investment in Bitcoin. Basically say I go out and spend $100 on food and drinks one night. The next morning, the goal would be to buy $100 of Bitcoin in response. As you can imagine, this would be a bit too expensive for my budget. This is a good thing because it would motivate me to try to cut my spending in half when I'm out so that I have the funds left over to purchase the Bitcoin the next day. To stick to this religiously would be a bit difficult, but even just doing it after a few times out could yield some great savings results. Why Bitcoin? I like to invest in a few different cryptocurrencies, but believe that ultimately Bitcoin will find itself as a savings mechanism in the future similar to gold now. That is my personal belief and absolutely not financial advice. I like to invest on a bi-weekly basis into coins such as Chainlink, Hive and RUNE and will be sticking with that, but acquiring as much BTC as possible would make me pretty happy. Savings Goals I think that something that I have never really had has been a solid plan regarding long-term savings. I have had my fair share of investments of various lengths, but I have always been one to not hold a firm savings. I realize the importance of having funds to access in an emergency and so for that reason my Bitcoin holdings will serve as a very long term savings plan in tangent with a cash savings. Where I will spend the cash on short-term needs, I plan on using the Bitcoin as an insurance policy in the future and continuing to build it up in my theoretical safe. Any time I can stack some sats is an investment in my future wellbeing and this concept of matching pleasure spending with concrete savings is something that I am excited to get started. Even if it is just a few dollars a day, I'll be stacking as much as I can because I believe the asset is severely undervalued in the short-term and the sky is the limit in the future. If You Can't Build, Then Write Image Source https://www.inc.com/jessica-stillman/3-reasons-writing-is-great-for-your-mental-health.html The Meaning One thing that keeps coming up during this bear market is the concept that we need to keep building. Now I view that in two different lights. On one hand, building to me in the concept of continuing to work on a project/protocol/ecosystem during a time when the profits may not be rolling in. On the other hand, it can also refer to building up your portfolio value through investing during a period of price depression. What If You Can't? Well what if you don't have a business to work on, the technical ability to build it up or the capital to increase your portfolio? With web 3.0 this question has been answered. Now, you can read and write about whatever you do know and be rewarded for it. You don't have to be an expert in C++ to look up the latest protocol that is doing an airdrop. You don't have to have an LLC to read an article about the state of the housing market. The fact of the matter is that we are now living in a time (some would argue that it is a very early version of the future) where you can generate value from whatever you do know how to do. You don't need to fit a specific mold or go out of your way to change what you are doing. With Hive, Publish0x, Read.cash and dozens more, you are able to simply post about what you enjoy and reap financial benefits from engaging with others. During this period of continuous building and improvement, just focus on continuous participation. Sure, the guys building a DeFi platform may realize greater financial rewards, but you are not sitting with your hands tied. You can get out there right now and do just a bit each day and be way better off after this period than you were right this second. Just keep going and don't worry about what the markets are doing. If we are correct in our thinking that the future is crypto and web 3.0 then we're already in the right place. Focusing On ONE Thing Backstory I have always found it wildly difficult to maintain focus on projects for more than a few days. With that being said, there are many things that I have been working on for a longer period of time (i.e. @dunksocial or my web 3.0 personal blogging), but most entrepreneurial ideas or new routines/habits I come up with fizzle out after a few weeks. https://leofinance.io/@dunksocial That doesn't mean that I don't accomplish things, but I have noticed that what I am feeling the most passion about tends to shift rapidly and often I end up with a lot of half-completed projects. Looking at this, the obvious good news is that there are a bunch of ideas I can pick up and continue working on at any moment, but the challenge will be to establish a new way of focusing in order to get those things done. Moving Forward I have been reading a new book alongside my Bitcoin books. The book is called "The One Thing" by Gary Keller & Jay Papasan. It is a really interesting concept and it is that we as a society are trying to do entirely too much and never focusing on what is actually the most important to get done. Thus far it has harped on some of the lies that are spread throughout society regarding productivity, multi-tasking and goal-setting. The authors of the book are seeking to make the case that we should be finding the one thing that drives us every day and basing the activities we do on reaching that overarching goal. For example, if your one thing is to make it big in the crypto markets, you need to establish daily routines, spending habits and research time in order to maximize your potential for gains. I have focused a lot on thinking about overarching goals that could be my "one thing" and though I haven't quite found it yet, I do feel satisfied that I am working on it. When you become an adult, much of the direction of your life becomes a freestyle. Of course there are people who know exactly what they want to do, but without the formal regulation of schooling or living with your parents, your decisions gain a bit of freedom... But also a lot of ambiguity. Finding my path hasn't been easy, but it has been rewarding thus far. I have been very focused on getting rid of bad habits rather than formulating good ones, and though I have been successful in dropping the bad, the lack of an overarching goal has led me to a period of boredom. I will be working hard to figure out what I want to get out of my life and then building my daily routines to accomplish it. I hope you all find your passion and get the chance to really focus in on it! Markets Can Flip In An Instant Image Source https://www.stash.com/learn/volatility-market-unpredictable/ Inefficiencies The more time I spend reading about and participating in financial markets such as the stock or crypto market, it becomes more and more apparent just how sensitive the markets actually are. With just a word or a rumor here or there, a market can completely pivot the direction that it is moving in. That is the case it seems because of how inefficient they actually are at the core of their nature. Prices are simply the best guess that a supply and demand system can produce. Price is never actually completely equivalent to utility or true value of an underlying asset. The most baffling aspect of markets to me has been how the voice of the few can overwhelmingly swing the speculative sentiment of the majority. The Few There are a few different people in our world that have the sway to dictate the markets. Of course there are whales that could change the flow of markets simply based on their trading activities, but in most instances that has been outlawed by lawmakers. The real shock to me (and no pun-intended to the markets as well) is when someone like Elon Musk, Jerome Powell or Joe Biden are able to completely flip the market with just one announcement. Of course these are among the world's most influential people for a reason, but we can't deny how terrifying it actually is that a single sentence could make or break the financial future of many investments. Today for example, there were two different comments made by Joe Biden that changed the trajectory of finance and politics this week. On the financial side, he announced what seemed to singal the United States walking back some of the tariffs placed on Chinese imports, thus providing a positive economic outlook for risk-assets as supply chain pressure would be eased. At the same time on the political side, Biden admitted that the United States would support Taiwan militarily if China were to ever invade... Pretty much the opposite of a positive progression with China (more towards a provocation of what would hypothetically be the most violent war in world history).
