Finally Buying Land In Splinterlands Intro One aspect of Spliterlands that I have discussed in the past as something that I really wanted to get has been land. The larger portions of land are way too expensive for my budget, but I can finally afford to buy a plot on the Hive-Engine and I am HYPE for that. What Is Land? Land is an expansion that will eventually come to the Splinterlands game where users will be able to produce items that can be used in battles such as spells or weapons of some kind. The details about what you will be able to do with that land plot are still a bit hazy, but it is clear that it will be a finite resource as only 150,000 plots will ever exist. With the fact that there are well over a million users now on Splinterlands, this makes land something that not every player will be able to get their hands on in the future. Why Buy Land? Well if the land expansion turns out to be pivotal to the gameplay of Splinterlands, it will make owners of land the merchants of valuable resources to sell to the rest of the players. In a theoretical world where Splinterlands goes to the metaverse, it will also give you some real estate there. In the short term, land also provides a hefty boost to your daily SPS airdrop amount. It will provide a 10,000 DEC boost to your holdings! So in addition to be a speculative moonshot asset for the gameplay future, it also helps to provide passive income for the next 180 or so days. I Did It Now that prices have come back down to earth, I was finally able to pick up a plot. This is really exciting as it is by no means a small amount of money for me. I am viewing it as a massive investment into a game that I believe will continue to grow. Splinterlands is easy to learn but difficult to master. While I focus on not losing a bunch of battles, I will know that my assets are growing in value and will be a great investment if the game follows the trajectory I know it can! Not financial advice! Bipolar Pack Opening - Splinterlands Last night I decided that I would take a gamble on some packs on the secondary market for Splinterlands and see if I could hit it big with a legendary or two. The results were... Mostly underwhelming, though there were a few positives in the opening. I bought a Beta pack, three Untamed packs and a Dice pack along with some Chaos Legion packs. Here are some of the underwhelming results: Boy did it sting to open a Beta pack and lose around 90% of my investment in it when looking at market reference prices, but hey that's what happens when you gamble, most of the time it doesn't work out. I could have pulled out a gold foil Plado Emberstorm of course, but instead I got a Stone Golem... Be careful when making these kinds of moves. There were some positives in the pack openings as I said: The gold foil summoner I got here saved my ass from absolutely lighting $250 on fire. Some packs you get on the market will be awesome like this and return almost 3x the investment value. I'm not really sure if these packs are a good investment when you open them, but they do provide a lot of points in the SPS airdrop if you have the patience to hold onto them and not immediately open them... I do not. Splinterlands is still the most exciting game I have played on blockchain and the market is absolutely genius. Let's see how things keep growing and if you are going to take a gamble on some packs, make sure you don't put too much into it because you could always pull complete crap... What To Do During A Lull? Accumulate! Image Source https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/ieyvz9/bitcoin_reaccumulation_phase/ It feels like we are in a bit of lull with everything in the crypto world. On Hive we are waiting on a few projects, airdrops and updates and just continuing to truck along doing our daily routines. Things have just taken a massive dip and recovered a little bit from that, but are kind of just holding the last few days. When times like these are happening, I can't help but think that remembering fundamentals will make a calm time a very profitable period. You can't get rich if you don't accumulate and hold your assets. I know firsthand that selling is the only way to guarantee that you don't make more profit on your trade (I guess that goes the other way too at the same time). When you have times where shit isn't hitting the fan, but you also aren't on a rocket to massive profits, it just feels like a great time to stack some tokens and wait for a move. If things go down, you can continue to stack tokens via dollar cost averaging. If things go up, you can strategize the best time to take profits. It feels like an accumulation period is the best time to come up with your strategy and continue to pursue it with passion. I think it is a safe idea to do research during this period as well. Without huge things changing in the fundamentals of projects, you are able to read up on things and get a better understanding for what the asset you are accumulating actually does. I think that in the past I was guilty of investing in things that influencers told me were a good idea (thanks Bitboy) and usually ended up getting burned. When I started to do my own research and dive into things, I found project that had a lot more promise and felt better about being involved in them. An accumulation period can be boring, but it feels like a study hall in high school... A chance to improve on yourself or a chance to mess around and do nothing, it is up to you. I Bought A Shi*coin Because Why Not? Baby Lambo Inu Before I talk about what I did yesterday, I really recommend either: Never buying a shi*coin Doing enough research to know what you are actually getting into if you decide to do it anyways. I bought this crap Why? Well you may ask me why I bought it... The answer is that I randomly found it on https://coinsniper.net/ a few days ago and just figured why not? Was there any research done on this? Nope not at all. I looked at the whitepaper once and saw that it contained a bunch of lofty goals that ultimately culminated in a yacht party for holders... Will I Get Rug Pulled? Almost certainly, but in a rug pull people still make money... Just if they sell at a reasonable time. Where Can I Find This Token? Do you actually really want to know? I feel bad telling you because it is almost a certainty it will go to zero long term... It's on Pancakeswap though. What Does This Token Actually Do? As far as I can tell it does nothing. The roadmap promises some stuff, but really I have no idea what is going on. They are supposed to donate to charity, but don't actually say how it will be done. The whole thing looks shady. Why Ever Buy A Shi*coin? Well some of them end up gaining a ton of media attention and pump like crazy before someone dumps it. I don't believe in the long term future of any of these coins, which is why I say to really think about what you are doing before you do it, but who knows what ridiculous article or tweet could come out and 2000x your investment? Will that happen? Almost certainly not... But I guess this is better than actually gambling in a casino. Was This A Terrible Idea That Shows I Am Bad At Crypto? YES Not financial advice! Market Opportunities Always Exist - Aggregate Trading The best overall strategy in my opinion (thus obviously not any type of advice) for investing is to dollar cost average and hold for a long time. With that being said, there are gains being created every day through a myriad of different types of trades. Perhaps the ideal way to participate in the markets is some type of happy medium between the volume of times you are investing short term and investing long term. Perhaps that is a recipe for disaster, especially for those who aren't performing technical analysis and doing other charting methods. Despite this, I watched an awesome video that highlighted the early trading strategy of Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder of the FTX crypto exchange. In this video, he basically admitted that he did not need any type of training or knowledge of the markets at all beyond a price display. Sam did what is called aggregate trading. He essentially looked at the price of Bitcoin on an American exchange and compared it to an exchange on the other side of the world, say Japan. He would notice discrepancies often between the two prices that could end up being rather significant, he claims he saw upwards of a 10% spread at some times. Well all he would do is buy Bitcoin where he could get more sats for one price, sell it on the more profitable exchange and pocket the difference (the spread) each time. Now this isn't to say this spread would always exist or be significant enough that it was worth paying transfer fees, but it certainly did exist enough times to make him a millionaire. The trick it seems is to have enough capital that the fees become an expense to your profits rather than an expense that makes the trade unprofitable altogether. Now, this trading strategy is further hindered by taxes and the fact that the government now has access to every transaction you make on your centralized exchange accounts, but theoretically it is a great way to pocket money on spreads because the price of the asset is not important. The only thing that is important in that case is the difference in price between the asset on different exchanges. It doesn't matter if it is $100,000 BTC to $99,000 BTC or if it is $10 BTC to $9.90 BTC, it is still a 1% spread. There are dozens of ways to tackle discrepancies and weaknesses in the markets in the short term, but you'll need to make sure you are doing your due-dillegence before yolo'ing into a trade. Just something to think about here. "Why This Crypto Could Be The Dogecoin Of 2022" - Splinterlands SPS Article Source https://www.fool.com/investing/2022/01/04/this-crypto-will-be-the-dogecoin-of-2022/ Scrolling through Twitter a few days ago, I saw a post about how the Motley Fool had written about Splinterlands and the Splintershard token. Essentially they are saying that because of the massive popularity of the game, we may see huge price increases in the games governance token in the future. Similar to examples that I, and many others, have referenced in the past, the Motley Fool employs the example of Axie Infinity and how their token went boom in 2021. Of course they also reference Dogecoin, but I feel like that is just something that gets crypto-newbies excited and is not directly applicable as the token falls into a different category than the SPS token. I am really happy to see mainstream groups like this catching onto the Splinterlands wave because they have a following of tens of thousands of people who are looking for direct advice on where to put money. This goes beyond an influencer discussing it on Youtube or a famous person acknowledging the existence of the blockchain. With an investment-advice service giving Splinterlands attention and pushing users to get involved by buying a spellbook, this is huge for the game. After reading this article, I was motivated to do something that I have been considering for a while now, and increased my SPS holdings by just about 50%. With the APR still around 38%, I find it to be a good place to park some funds as I also believe in the future of the platform and the use cases of the token. Do your own research before investing money into anything, I am just sharing a personal experience and part of why I reached that decision. I will be looking to add some cheap legendaries over the next few days as the prices are still down quite a bit! How Many BCH To Become A Millionaire? Seeing that I am starting to try to stack BCH until I can join #club1BCH I thought it would be an interesting though experiment to see how many BCH you would need at a few different price levels to become a millionaire. The current price for 1 BCH is roughly $306, for our purposes let's round that down to $300. At current price levels you would need 3,333.33 BCH to get to your goal... A bit hefty seeing that I currently have .015 BCH. But what if the price of BCH were say... $1000? At that price level, you would need 1,000 BCH to hit your goal... Still a big ask. What if the price were $10,000 though? I mean Bitcoin is way above that now... Why not BCH? Well then you would only need 100 BCH to hit your goal, still a big ask but now much more reasonable over a long period of accumulation. But the best thought is what if BCH actually mirrored the price of Bitcoin one day and we saw it hit somewhere around say $50,000? Well my friends you would only need 20 BCH to become a millionaire... This is something that is fully possible during the current bear market if you are dollar cost averaging like $10 a day into BCH. It would take you roughly 30 days to stack 1 BCH, so you could hit the 20 BCH mark after less than two years given the current market... What is stopping you? What Bitcoin Cash Needs = A Play 2 Earn Game When I look at the Bitcoin Cash ecosystem, I see a ton of potential. I see blogging platforms that have a very solid level of participation and readership as well as many financial dApps being built (including smartBCH). As far as I have seen thus far, there is one thing that is holding Bitcoin Cash back from attracting a huge audience to the ecosystem: a Play2Earn game. Where Hive has Splinterlands and Ethereum has Axie Infinity (and many more), Bitcoin Cash is lacking in the headliner that will draw thousands of users to participate and earn BCH. I wish I had some more coding or technological ability because I would love to create a game of my own. An idea that I had was to take the gameplay structure of Splinterlands and create a sports themed game where say basketball players would compete in simulated games to win in-game currency. This project is really cool in theory, but unfortunately requires millions in funding and a team of at least a few developers that are much more skilled in coding than myself. The concept of creating a game is (pun-intended) a complete game-changer for the ecosystem.\ If there is a game that people can link to a blockchain, the blockchain should grow a bit in proportion to the size of the game like we are seeing with Hive and Splinterlands. If there are games on the BCH network that I don't know about, please let me know. As far as I can tell there are some "gaming" platforms but they are casino games or satoshi dice games rather than a play2earn game. I think that is one of the main things that BCH is missing before becoming a popular network on all fronts and jumping into the race for web 3.0 innovation. References/Collaborations Image Source https://www.theimpactanswer.com/2018/11/09/827/ 1. Elevator Pitch Summary CardSharks is an NFT series of animated sharks holding playing cards and wearing other accessories related to casinos and gambling. There are 7777 CardSharks minted in the collection and they will be sold on Opensea.io. As with other NFT projects, the attributes of each character (i.e. the accessories, shark color, etc.) will be of various rarities that will be published in the NFT series description on Opensea.io. The novelty of this project and what makes it different from other NFT projects is the fundraising mechanism that will be implemented into the projects nature. 10% of the profits from the initial sale and 50% of all royalties received thereafter will be donated to charities aimed at helping problem gamblers (including but not limited to Gamblers Anonymous, National Council on Problem Gambling, Nevada Council on Problem Gambling, and the Stop Predatory Gambling Foundation). This project seeks to create an endless fundraiser while allowing for the purchase and sale of the asset in parallel to allow buyers to speculate on market value. The process for fundraising transparency will be discussed in this paper and will ultimately culminate in the formation of a non-profit DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) to determine where the community funding is sent. During this phase of the project, your NFT will serve as your membership 'ticket' to the DAO and provide you the ability to vote on funding proposals and provide access to more features yet to be announced. Image Source https://www.casino.org/blog/gambling-pure-luck-total-skill/ 2. Project Inspiration Problem gambling is an issue that is rarely discussed in today's society. According to the Nielsen Corporation's research on television advertising, gambling advertisements have climbed to the 11th most prevalent advertisement on cable. With states lining up in droves to legalize online/sports gambling within their jurisdiction, we can logically expect to see a rise in people who will become problem gamblers. Problem Gambling (as defined by the National Council on Problem Gambling) refers to all gambling behavior patterns that compromise, disrupt or damage personal, family or vocational pursuits. It is estimated that 8 million adults in the United States alone suffer with mild to severe problem gambling each year. Once again, it is expected that this number will climb as the number of advertisements and outlets by which to gamble increase, while education on responsible gambling has remained stagnant in growth. This project seeks to create continuous value to support efforts to increase education about gambling as well as increasing the resources available to help problem gamblers quit. The CardSharks team has experienced the issues related to problem gambling. It is an issue that we have dealt with on a daily basis for the last five years and will continue to fight with for the foreseeable future. Rather than sitting around idly, feeling bad about this, we are seeking to make a change in the world through this NFT project. CardSharks is literally an NFT series created by gamblers, for gamblers (though you don't need to have ever gambled to support the cause). We need to make sure that those who choose to gamble do so responsibly and know the risks associated; this is something that is not a given in today's society. CardSharks is a movement to create a change for a community that may not even know just how much help they need. Image Source https://www.shutterstock.com/search/back+to+basics 3. Blockchain Information Polygon Network No gas fees on Opensea.io Purchase with WETH available on Opensea.io Minting on the Polygon network for gas-fee savings purposes while still maintaining ties to Opensea.io 5. Phase 1 In Phase 1 of the project, the CardSharks initial sale will take place. During the days leading up to the sale (projected late February 2022), marketing letters will be sent out to gambling streamers, influencers, organizations and celebrities asking them if they would like to be involved in the project. The reason that we believe we can recruit members of the gambling community to participate is because they have an inherent social responsibility to express to their fans and/or viewership that they need to gamble responsibly. Many streamers and celebrities go on record during their shows and tell their viewers that gambling will result in a loss in the long term; some even going as far as recommending to viewers that they not gamble at all. These streamers will be offered the ability to mint their NFT's at cost and use them in on-stream giveaways to spread awareness and involve their fanbase in the CardSharks project. 100 Mints will be set aside for these purposes. 5 Mints will be set aside for the team. This leaves a minimum of 7,672 Mints for sale on Opensea.io when phase one launches. During this phase, there will not yet be a DAO or automated mechanism for the donation funds. Again, 10% of the initial sale profits and 50% of all royalties generated thereafter will be donated to charity. During phase 1 there will be transparency reports shared with the community each month, as well as a view-only communal Google Sheet to track how much money is being donated and where it was going (this will be further discussed in the transparency section of this paper). 6. Phase 2 During this phase of the project, profits will be reinvested at a rate determined necessary by the team to research on and construct a DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) that will be called the CardSharks DAO. This DAO will hold all the funds generated from royalties on Opensea.io and will store them in a transparent vault. The purpose of this DAO will to provide further utility to your CardSharks NFT(s). The NFT will serve as your 'ticket' into the DAO, where you will have the ability to vote on funding proposals submitted by the community as well as other features yet to be announced. The DAO will help to provide transparency and peace of mind to token-holders as they will be able to track and view every aspect of the funding and donation process as well as gaining a say in where the funds go. The CardSharks DAO is seeking to be one of the first fully-democratized NFT communities and will hopefully be a place for innovation and philanthropic success. Image Source https://blog.advancedresources.com/the-importance-of-transparency-in-leadership 7. Transparency As mentioned, one of the issues regarding phase one of the project is the ability to remain fully transparent. This is of course not an issue in phase two as all members of the DAO would be able to track what is happening within the funding vault. For that reason, it is very important that communication is clear and constant from the team in order to retain our integrity and the project's overall reputation. As this is an issue that hits near home for the team, we really want to make sure that the community knows exactly what is happening at all times. Our plan is to do the following: Create a Google sheet that includes blockchain data, images of royalty receipts from Opensea.io and a full list of the amount of money that each NFT has generated for the charity program. Publish receipts of our donations through our social media accounts and receive verifiable proof from the non-profits we donated to that they have received our donations (i.e. tax forms, invoice receipts, etc.). We welcome the community to submit ideas on how to further improve our transparency as a project and reserve the right to adjust this whitepaper accordingly to reflect those ideas (This would be announced before anything was changed or implemented via social media and a mailing list to be created at a later time). Project Announcement! Whitepaper Coming Tonight A repost from my Hive account: Introduction Hey everyone, I would like to announce that I am launching an NFT series with a purpose that means a lot to me. I've written for so long about problem gambling and the issues that can come into your life as a result of it and I have been struggling to think of ways to help myself and help others with this issue. I spent months thinking of ideas and inevitably throwing them away, but all along the way the common theme was raising money and awareness in the fight against problem gambling. The other day, I came up with the idea to make an NFT series to fundraise for the cause, but quickly realized that I had no idea where to start. Luckily for me, just recently there have been numerous videos walking you through the process and I was able to catch up with the learning curve after just four days. I worked pretty much all day every day on this project since then and continue to do so today, so I am happy to announce that this is really going to happen and is coming together rapidly. The Project I have created 7777 unique images using the Hashlips Art Engine and will be minting them to the Polygon blockchain in the coming weeks using NFTPort as the metadata program. This is all very new to me, but I want to make a difference in the world and believe that this is a perfect culmination of many of my interests and passions. In just a few hours I will be releasing the Whitepaper for my project: CardSharks - An NFT Series by gamblers, for gamblers to assist in the fight against problem gambling. This is mint #89 from the collection of 7777 mints! 10% of the profits from the initial sale and 50% of all royalties thereafter will be donated to foundations that support the fight against problem gambling. The goal of this project is to create an everlasting fundraiser while also allowing for users to speculate on the price of the NFT in the Opensea market; donations will come from the royalties that will be programmed into each NFT. In phase two of the project, a DAO will be created where owners of the NFT's will have a vote in where the funding goes and anyone can draft a proposal to be voted on by the community. More details and clarity will come from the Whitepaper I have drafted, but I wanted to make this post first for a few reasons: To introduce the project before dropping a 2000 word whitepaper. As a sign of respect to the Hive community, I wanted to get the word out and clarify that I will be sending any rewards made from the Whitepaper post to the Hive fund. Preview the project informally before the whitepaper Make the community aware that though I am minting on Polygon, I am posting my whitepaper to Hive in order to show viewers my project while helping them find an ecosystem that I love. I am excited and wanted to post about it even though I have to tweak the whitepaper a bit before posting it. I am very excited about this project and hope that some of you may find it exciting as well. I will be working tirelessly to make this a huge project and I hope that it will have a novel enough approach to help it stand out among an ever growing crowd. Hashlips NFT Art-Engine: ANYONE Can Mint Their Own Collection Now I have been doing a ton of work and research into what it takes to create an NFT collection. It turns out that the only thing holding me back from doing it was myself. Here are the excuses that I had and the reasons why they are not actually legitimate: I Am Not An Artist: I have never been much of an artist, however I have come to the conclusion that you don't need to be a master artist, you just need the patience to learn how to use Photoshop. If you gather a collection of licensed images and take the time to edit them with Photoshop tools, you can create pieces of art by layering those images on top of one another. I'll be releasing images of my collection soon, but I'll tell you it just took hard work, not a lot of artistic ability. Photoshop For Beginners On Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyR_uYsRdPs I Don't Want To Make All The Art Pieces: If you are familiar with how NFT collections go, there are often thousands of mints in the collection, it can be 7000-10000 pieces of unique artwork included in that. If you were to make that many pieces of art, it would likely take you hundreds, if not thousands of days to do it one by one. There is a solution however, a program that will run a set of given inputs and spit out X number of randomized artworks: The Hashlips NFT Art-Engine. Here is a link to the engine on Github. https://github.com/HashLips/hashlips_art_engine But I Can't Code Well that Hashlips engine is super helpful if you know what the hell is going on, but if you have no idea how to code using JavaScript it just looks like a hacker portal and you'll give up. However, just recently someone came out with a fully encompassing beginner video on how to use the engine to mint NFT's on Opensea. Here is a link to his video on the topic. He released some updates in following videos, so be sure to check out the whole series before jumping into anything. It is literally a step-by-step guide through the technical stuff, but you'll need to compile your art (photos) seperately and size them all the same (something I messed up and will be fixing all day today). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaCgydeMu64 My Collection Won't Be Popular Who knows? A collection is worth what people are willing to pay for it and you never know what might happen. I am going into the project with a novel marketing idea that I hope will generate some interest in the project as it will be raising funds for a group I believe is important to society. If you go into anything believing that it won't work out, it just tends not to. All the jobs I have applied for over the last few months have not gotten back to me, and I think it is because I was very passive with my applications and didn't have the belief that I'd get the positions I was looking at... Well I haven't. That is ok because it has given me the time to really think about what I want to be doing with my life and I have reached some great conclusions. This project is my first push towards achieving what I want to achieve with my life. It isn't completely an easy task to mint your own collection of NFT's but it just takes patience. The video takes care of all the complex thinking and you just need to focus and be sure you are covering all of your bases. Anyone can do this now and anyone's life can be changed as a result. If this is something you have always wanted to do but never thought you could... I'm here to tell you that you absolutely can. Good luck people. The Link Between Intelligence and Addiction Image Source: https://academiamag.com/how-to-improve-your-intelligence/ Addiction is something that I have written about quite a few times over the course of my tenure on Hive and Read.cash, but I have never tried to link it to anything from a scientific sense. Last night, I went down an internet rabbit hole as I sometimes find myself doing. What was shocking about this one (for my standards) was that it was an educational rabbit hole rather than just a time killer. I was curious when I was told that there is a link between intelligence and cognitive irregularities such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, mood issues and more. Rather than causing these issues directly, a high level of intelligence has been cited as a risk factor for these issues. A group known as MENSA (basically a group of people with high iq's) was polled for a scientific study and here are the results (https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/bad-news-for-the-highly-intelligent/): *The biggest differences between the Mensa group and the general population were seen for mood disorders and anxiety disorders. More than a quarter (26.7 percent) of the sample reported that they had been formally diagnosed with a mood disorder, while 20 percent reported an anxiety disorder—far higher than the national averages of around 10 percent for each. The differences were smaller, but still statistically significant and practically meaningful, for most of the other disorders. The prevalence of environmental allergies was triple the national average (33 percent vs. 11 percent).* It turns out that this link actually carries over to addiction of drugs, alcohol, gambling, sex, etc. People with high intelligence levels are in a sense victims of circumstance as society was built, by necessity, for the average intelligence level. This can cause those with high levels of intelligence to feel ostracized, feel the need for a challenge, get bored, feel frustrated, etc. This can lead to some poor decision-making to cope. According to studies identified in this article (https://vertavahealth.com/blog/correlation-intelligence-addiction/) people with high IQ's were more likely to try psychoactive drugs and to do so at a younger age, thus increasing their propensity to develop a dependency on those drugs. Some have cited the constant need to feel challenged or mentally stimulated as one of the reasons why people with high IQ's have a higher propensity for high-risk addictive behavior. I have not yet reached conclusions on how these findings relate to me and the issues that I have experienced thus far in my life, but it is an interesting pathway to explore in the coming days. What do you think, do you feel like you are quite intelligent and thus have a predisposition to some negative things? Let me know in the comments. What Does It Take To Make A Popular NFT Collection? I am about to try to figure out what it takes to create an NFT collection that sells a ton of volume. I am not a great artist, but I do believe that I could come up with something very funny and use that to produce valuable NFT assets. Does anyone have any tips for how to do this well? I have tried in the past, but was inconsistent in my efforts. I want to go ahead today and do something that really changes my life. I am not sure what that will be, but I am excited to find out. 70% Of Crypto Investors Started in 2021 I was wildly surprised when I saw this article pop up today on CoinGecko. Huboi ran a study and found out that on average, it appears that around 70% of crypto investors just started during 2021. https://cryptopotato.com/huobi-reports-70-of-crypto-investors-joined-in-2021-survey/ Well what does this mean? It means that there has been enormous growth in the cryptocurrency ecosystem. There's been a ton of people investing since 2017, and of course quite a few people before then. The fact that 70% of the current investing population just started is a hugely bullish sign. These are the types of numbers that I am expecting to see on Hive as well. There will be a few years of diehard people participating daily and accumulating a huge stake and then there will be some huge dApp that brings in a horde of people all at once. It can even be argued that this is what is happening with Splinterlands, but it is hard to imagine that there won't be more innovation coming to Hive in the coming years as well. It was noted in the study that a lot of the people polled had heard of NFT's and that was a big driving factor to get involved. So though I have always been skeptical of NFT's as art being worth millions of dollars, it has at least served as a big advertisement for the cryptocurrency ecosystem. The study also notes that approximately 25% of Americans own a little bit of Bitcoin is some form. This is an enormous percentage that I expect to continue to rise as things like DeFi and the Metaverse continue to gain traction and people are seeking a place to start getting involved with crypto; most people seem to begin with Bitcoin. This was a nice bit of news to find out as it brings continued confidence that I am not completely insane for getting involved with cryptocurrency. As more and more people continue to get involved and things keep being built, the ecosystem will continue to develop and improve. In 5 years, we may not even recognize the world we are living in. Thorchain Launching DOGEFI Soon Image Source https://www.analyticsinsight.net/dogecoin-doge-price-prediction-for-2022/ I'll come out and say that I've never owned Dogecoin for more than a few hours, but I do know that hundreds of thousands of people either trade or recognize the brand that is Dogecoin... Actually no, there are over 4 million on chain holders of this goofy little coin. Thorchain has announced some huge news when it comes to Dogecoin and I think that riding the hype wave on Dogecoin will pay off huge for RUNE. Thorchain is releasing what is being called "DOGEFI" during their next platform system upgrade. Essentially Thorchain is adding native Dogecoin functionality to their cross chain swaps and liquidity pools. This is huge because it is offering a way for people to put their Dogecoin to work for them through staking and generating a passive income off their funny little dog tokens. The APR will likely be pretty significant as well at first (and throughout it will be pretty solid too I hope) and that could present a huge marketing moment for Thorchain. I have been accumulating RUNE and though I can't tell you that you should go out and buy it (because that would make it financial advice and I don't give that), the most difficult decision for me is deciding whether I want to put my RUNE to work or hold for an investment in case the price skyrockets. I think that I will likely do a combination of both of these things, though I can't say that I will be participating in the Dogecoin side of things (who knows though, maybe the APR will be so solid that I'll change my mind). The fact that the Thorchain devs are looking to implement projects with such huge fanbases is a really good move in my eyes. Ethereum people are wildly tribal about doing their DeFi on the Ethereum networks, but the rest of the crypto world is looking for a cheap way to get their assets working for them passively. Thorchain is primed for success in my opinion and hopefully DogeFi can kick things off for the project. What do you all think about RUNE? I have written about it a bunch of times because I believe it to be one of the most promising projects in the cryptocurrency space. We are heading towards a world that is going to become wildly interconnected and we need to start using products that are going to make that connection easier. Thorchain will be the project that kicks things off in uniting blockchains, I'm happy to be a part of it. Where Can I Release Podcasts On Web 3.0? Image Source https://www.wired.co.uk/article/best-podcasts I know that there are a few podcasts happening on Hive already. There is the Crypto Maniacs podcast with @taskmaster4450le and @jongolson as well as the Community Token Talk podcast, but all of these are being run through threespeak. https://peakd.com/@taskmaster4450le https://peakd.com/@jongolson Is threespeak where we should be releasing audio-only content? Or is there a podcasting community on Hive or elsewhere on Web 3.0 that I do not already know about? I plan on creating content that is in video form, but also think it would be fun to occasionally switch up that media form and put something out that is a traditional podcast. I like the concept of being able to produce both forms of media because when you are creating something that involves visuals, there is an entire process of editing that must be done in order to create a quality product. When it comes to podcasting, you are taking the visual out of the content and creating something that is much more off the cuff. For this reason, it seems that it is easier to create more consistent content using a podcast, while still creating content with visuals (just less frequently). I have looked around on Hive and not really found anything that I would deem to be solely dedicated to producing podcast material. Am I missing it? It is certainly possible because there are so many dApps that it is easy to get lost looking for things on Hive and web 3.0. Let me know! I just got all the gear I need to create video and podcasting content and am excited to get some things out there to share with the community! New Video Series Coming Soon - Let Me Convince You The other day, I wrote about how I was ordering a microphone set and working on an idea for video-based content to share on Hive; I have come to a conclusion that I find really promising. I have always found that something that I am good at it arguing with others and employing persuasion to assist my cause. This is logically why I am pursuing a career in law and why I have a few ex girlfriends... The idea for my project is to take a wide range of topics and unite them under the branch of argumentation. I will take a topic and attempt to convince viewers to take a specific side to the argument that I agree with. For example (a very easy example to illustrate) I could do an episode where I convince viewers that the world is round. Through examples of photography, cartography, physics and more, I would attempt to convince my viewership that I am a believer in a round-earth (sorry flat-earthers). Now, this would get pretty boring if it was just a mock courtroom. Rather than just providing black and white facts, I want to use comedy and satire at times as well in order to make the content interesting and entertaining. Some of my topics may end up taking on a more serious note, but I think that the ability to weave comedy and light-heartedness into the more heavy topics is a skill that I have. I want my episodes to be engaging and informative, but also bring a smile to the face of the viewer. Right now, I am beginning to work on a few different topics for episodes and would want to one day be able to release one every other day or so. I have been studying how to use iMovie and working on my video editing so I can create a product that is a bit more advanced than the Zoom interviews I have published in the past. I'm pretty excited for this project as it is something that has pretty wide appeal because of the endless range of topics to discuss. I would even want to analyze comments and viewer-feedback to find topics that people are interested in hearing about. I figure it is better to argue with myself on a camera and microphone than to argue with someone in the street; but if you run into me feel free to debate me on whatever topics I may have come up with. One aspect of content creation that I really like is the feedback loop. Sure there will be people who are just critics or don't like your content, but there will also be some who just genuinely want to debate or discuss a topic with you; I'm excited to do that with this video series. I hope you all enjoy. Look forward to seeing the first episode within a few days when I am all set up to produce the vids. Let me know if there are topics I should be diving into! Five Tokens I'm Dollar Cost Averaging I thought that today I would share the tokens that I am beginning to dollar-cost average on a weekly basis this week. I have bought some of these tokens in the past and have decided that they are good investments for me, make sure you do your own research before making any financial decision as we really have no idea of knowing what will happen in the future. I am planning on buying around $10 of each token every Thursday morning and accumulating as much as I can in between those time periods. I believe that having a regular timing for my investments will help me stay motivated and make sure I am getting a good amount of tokens stacked up during the impending bear market. I saw a quote the other day that I really loved. It was something to the extent of "people get rich during a bear market, they just don't realize it until a bull market". I'm using that as motivation. The Coins Bitcoin This is a no brainer for me. I just got the Strike app and I think it is the best for fees I have seen thus far. I won't be keeping all my BTC there as the app lacks a lot of features still and I want to spread my risk out, but I will be using it to purchase some of the greatest coin ever. RUNE This one I've brought up numerous occasions. With the lofty goal of being a cross-blockchain DEX, RUNE has so much potential in a rapidly expanding and connecting ecosystem. They have a lot to sort out in terms of security and such looking forward, but the idea is brilliant at it's core and I've always enjoyed investing in things that I really believe in. Travala This one is going to be a gem. Travel and tourism is so huge and will never go away even if it is being suppressed now. Being able to buy your flights and hotels directly with crypto and get discounts for staking Travala makes this project hit all of my favorite interests. Hive Easy. Hive is going to the moon. I want to stack some more while we are on this slight downswing and continue to do it going forward to increase my influence in the ecosystem. Cardano This is a token I haven't talked about in a while, but still believe in. I want to get back into staking ADA because when they finally get their stuff together their blockchain could power the smart contracts of thousands of businesses and do things that ETH has been seeking to do for the last few years now. I really like these tokens and am excited to be able to stack them up and really track my progress going forward. 2022 is going to be a much better year than 2021, it begins now. **Links and Connections:** JOIN SPLINTERLANDS HERE JOIN PRESEARCH BEFORE ITS TOO LATE! Three Theoretical Uses Of Blockchain Image Source https://elearningindustry.com/future-of-work-guide-why-more-organizations-discover-benefits-of-immersive-learning-ebook-release I think that we are living in an awesome time and one of my biggest regrets was not getting involved with the skills needed to be a part of building the technical side. If I could go back in time, I think I would have chosen to major in some type of web-development/engineer position so that I would have the skills needed to design and build on my ideas. With that being said, I think that one thing I have seen is that companies and groups are trying to make it easier for non-coders to design things such as smart contracts (i.e. the Marlowe playground on Cardano) and basic web platforms via a site like wordpress or drupal. I think that we will see Blockchain creeping more and more into traditional businesses with each passing year and additionally having that blockchain be explained to users like they were five year olds. Things will get streamlined and easier to understand/use and there will come a time where non-coders are approaching the levels of skill that some devs are at now while they reach levels we can't even imagine right now. So what would this world look like? What are three possible scenarios where blockchain would be employed by people who currently would probably never imagine they would use blockchain in their field? 1. Education System One idea that I have had that I never really figured out how to put into direct use is to streamline and publicize the budgets of secondary educational facilities as well as the K-12 system in the United States. With a private institution, there is almost always a report published after a fiscal year detailing how that school spent it's endowment or yearly budget so that the students can see where their tuition is going, but they really get little to no input on how it is actually spent and divvied up. With a public system that holds true as well except it is the taxpayers that are seeing how much of their taxes went to the school and what it was spent on; again with no real agency for the payer. Schools could easily involve blockchain to create a weighted voting system where people could choose where to allocate their tuition/tax money. Even imagine if a school identified 5-6 categories where they would want funding and allowed payers to allocate their funding to the categories they believe in. Sure there would be issues like lack of funding for specific categories, but the positive side of me wants to believe that the funding would get to the things that are most important. Additionally, payers could write their own proposals and have them voted on for funding the same way we do on sites like Hive. It is certainly possible to democratize the educational system with some blockchain-based voting. 2. The Government The same thing as the educational system goes here as well. Of course the United States in many many years away from every having a productive government (we may never actually see one). However, with so many dissatisfied with where their tax money is going, there could easily be a voting system where payers choose projects and/or categories of funding to allocate their tax money to. Instead we kind of just see the government put that wherever benefits wealthy individuals who often have a financial say in whatever law is sending that money out. True democracy would strike fear into lawmakers in the United States, but if we were ever to see a push towards it, blockchain technology could be used to ensure an immutable public ledger of decisions. 3. Military I think that after watching "War Dogs" I just had this random theoretical idea that smart contracts could be used to better document and publicize military purchases. The movie was about a website where the military would post wholesale contract requests for weapons orders that would be filled by smaller businesses than Lockheed Martin or Boeing in order to level the playing field a little bit when it comes to funding the Military-Industrial complex the United States survives on. I think that smart contracts could be used to streamline purchases and make sure that the government is being held accountable for all their purchases by showing the taxpayer an immutable and public record of how their money is being used. I'm sure that blockchain could also be used to help with actual warfare but that is something out of my range of understanding and I don't support the war to begin with. The benefits of blockchain here would be more about transparency in my eyes. **Links and Connections:** JOIN SPLINTERLANDS HERE JOIN PRESEARCH BEFORE ITS TOO LATE! Splinterlands Rental Experiment Wrap Up Well about a week ago I wrote about how I was doing an experiment and using the rental market to boost myself up to Silver I. After doing it, I can't say it was the most profitable endeavor... After renting and battling every day until I had around 50-60% DEC capture rate, I made a profit of around $4.75 after a week including quest rewards. Profit is profit, but the amount of time and effort that I put in probably makes this an experiment I would not re-do. I think that battling at the Silver I level is a very profitable time if you have enough deck power to be there without needing to rent very much. I suppose if there were enough really cheap rentals (i.e. like 20 two cent Djinn Biljkas) then it could be optimized in such a way as to make more of a profit. Getting to this point without rentals is now something that is easier said than done in terms of financial investment, but if you are not using rentals you can expect to make between $20-$30 a week at Silver I from quests and DEC rewards. There is a ton of money to be made in Splinterlands, you just need to be willing to invest in it to get to the point where you can really make some. **Links and Connections:** JOIN SPLINTERLANDS HERE JOIN PRESEARCH BEFORE ITS TOO LATE! Kasta.io Scam or Gem? If you haven't recently seen the string of information going around Twitter, big time crypto influencers are making money in droves by taking on paid advertisements and charging for dedicated reviews of different projects. Now, while this does not mean that the project can't be a good one, it was a little disheartening knowing that support can be bought so easily. I feel as if this may be what is happening with Kasta.io but I really hope that it is not because of how promising the project appears to be. The token will be a form of payment to be used at any merchants that are operating on the blockchain; a blockchain that will be at least partially supported by Polygon; as well as being used to acquire discounts and even discounts on exchange rates for international payments. Kasta will allow for staking through different pools in order to generate rewards as well as allowing the userbase to vote on which products/companies should get Kasta cashback rewards for purchases made with them. The reason that I feel like this project could lack trust is simply because of how many influencers are talking about it now. It is everywhere and Ivan on Tech is one of their main technical partners. I think that this doesn't necessarily mean that the project would be bad as I mentioned, it just gives me an uneasy feeling. I think I would need to see it being used successfully before getting deeply involved with it. On the flipside, having so many influencers talking about a project like this where the token can be used as a form of payment seems important because the more people using it, the more places it can be spent. Not quite sure what to think at this point, but the basics of the project sound appealing to me at the very least. **Links and Connections:** JOIN SPLINTERLANDS HERE JOIN PRESEARCH BEFORE ITS TOO LATE! How Much Hive To Retire I know this is the BCH side of things, but the idea would still hold true theoretically for BCH. The same experiment could be run for any token, this is just an example: I thought it would be interesting to look at the average amount of money needed to live a modest retirement and how much Hive you would need to stack in order to reach those levels at different Hive values. # The Average Retirement According to this Investopedia [article](https://www.investopedia.com/retirement/how-much-you-should-have-saved-age/), you should have around 80% of what you annual salary was per year. Meaning that if you retired making 100k a year you should have 80k saved per year for your retirement years. However, the census says that the median annual household income in the United States is $67,521 as of 2020, so we can use that number instead. If we use the 80% rule, we get a needed retirement income of 54,016.80 per year. According to [this article](https://www.fool.com/retirement/2018/02/24/heres-the-average-length-of-retirement-will-your-m.aspx) the average retirement lasts around 18 years. On average, you need 972,302.40 over the course of your retirement # $1 Hive At this price level you would need a nest egg of 972,302.4 Hive... Something that may be a bit difficult to achieve though we have some whales now with more than that. # $2.50 Hive At this price level you would need a nest egg of 388,920.96 Hive It would take you almost 78 years to stack this amount of Hive if you are bringing in 5000 Hive per year; a bit too long here obviously. # $5 Hive At this price level you would need a nest egg of 194,460.48 Hive. It would take you almost 39 years to stack up this amount if you are stacking 5000 Hive per year. # $10 Hive At this price level you would need a nest egg of 97,230.24 Hive. This amount is still difficult to achieve, but over a long period of time it is certainly a reasonable amount of Hive to collect. If you stack 5000 Hive a year it could be done in under 20 years. # Conclusions And Reminders Well I think it is important to note that HP increases at 3% per year, so all of these year totals would be a bit lower. Additionally, there may be airdrops, new tokens, new users, gains in popularity that can increase or decrease the amount you can earn; these are simply estimations. If Hive reaches $10, it could not only be a full time job, but also serve as a huge portion of your retirement fund if done right. It will be wildly difficult to reach these levels and if they are reached they would not be guaranteed as we can't predict the market; however, there is real earning potential to be found here. I wouldn't recommend banking your future on the success of your Hive account, but it definitely can't hurt to keep building it up. If we see price levels that exceed our current expectations, many lives can be changed and we can actually find ourselves reaching retirement at earlier ages than ever before. DYOR but it can't hurt to spend a few minutes each day writing a post and leaving some comments; you never know what could happen in a few years time. **Links and Connections:** JOIN SPLINTERLANDS [HERE](https://splinterlands.com?ref=rob23hive) [JOIN](https://presearch.org/signup?rid=1992127) PRESEARCH BEFORE ITS TOO LATE! Decentralization Needs Customer Service Image Source https://study.com/academy/lesson/face-to-face-customer-service-definition-examples.html Working with so many different DEX's and DeFi platforms has shown me just how much personal agency needs to be taken in cryptocurrency. My Complaints I have been having issues with some certain centralized groups as well recently and when it comes to customer/user support it seems that cryptocurrency platforms are still well behind the curve. For example, I have struggled to reach Binance on numerous occasions and even received scammy emails from them when I first made a transfer on the Binance Smart-Chain and made an error with BEP-2 vs BEP-20 transfers into my account. Or another example would be the week long delays reaching out to Coinbase to resolve an account issue. Of course, with the decentralized platforms, there is not usually even a team to contact. I guess this is a blessing and a curse. On one hand, we are without the traditional crutch of contacting a support line or chat whenever we have an issue and getting immediate results, but on the other hand we are given the responsibility to handle ourselves. My Concession: One group that I think has tackled this challenge well is the @leofinance team with their Discord and relevant help-line, but even this may have trouble scaling if we are to grow as expected. https://leofinance.io/@leofinance We need solutions in the crypto community for helping one another out. One idea that I had was a community-funded help-line bounty program. Bounty Program: This program would essentially allow confused users to place a request for assistance and those requests can be fulfilled by anyone and they would receive a bit of payment in the platform's native token for their advice. Of course this would have the ability to be manipulated so that users could make up problems and farm rewards, so there would need to be some kind of tangible way to decipher what is legitimate help and what is not; this is something that I have not quite figured out yet. This is a new idea and needs a lot of tweaking to make it work, but having the ability to have 24/7 incentivized assistance for all of the confusing problems you may encounter transitioning to a new platform would be an enormous boost for onboarding. **Links and Connections:** JOIN SPLINTERLANDS HERE JOIN PRESEARCH BEFORE ITS TOO LATE! SPS Token Price Prediction? As more and more players continue to pile into Splinterlands, it seems more likely than not that the valuations of cards and possibly of DEC should remain either steady or move upwards as time goes on. What is more uncertain is the future of the newest addition to the game: The Splintershard (SPS) As we know, this is the token that players are receiving a daily airdrop of to reward them for holding Splinterlands assets such as cards, DEC and land. We have been told that this token will provide benefits such as access to vouchers for presales of new packs and required for entry into some tournaments. Players are able to stake SPS in the game to receive more in return and the APR has been pretty good still staying well above 65%. However, we have to think about where price may end up when the airdrops are finally done and the supply of SPS slows down in allocation. For reference, here is the price of the Axie Infinity token: If we are looking at maximum supply of the two tokens, the Splintershard would have 11.11x as many circulating tokens as Axie Infinity. With that being the case, it is hard to imagine that the Splintershard will surpass the price of Axie at any time (note that we are using Axie as a reference because of how successful the platform has been). Though the SPS token may not reach the nominal value of the Axie token, the market cap may very well do so. Splinterlands is one of the fastest growing dApps in general, not just in terms of blockchain gaming... I think there is a chance we see explosive growth for the SPS token as it becomes more and more integral to gameplay in the future. It would be foolish to say that the SPS token should have an exact valuation of the Axie price divided by 11.11, but if that were theoretically the case, SPS would be priced well above $10... An interesting exercise of thought that shows that there is a ton of upwards room to grow for SPS if it maintains relevancy to the game. Do your own research, but this token is the main reason that I am beginning to accumulate in game assets. I think it could be huge! **Links and Connections:** JOIN SPLINTERLANDS [HERE](https://splinterlands.com?ref=rob23hive) [JOIN](https://presearch.org/signup?rid=1992127) PRESEARCH BEFORE ITS TOO LATE! What Coins Will You DCA This Month? Image Source https://medium.com/coinmonks/dollar-cost-averaging-dca-how-profitable-is-this-strategy-really-b4beed886f75 Here's your monthly reminder that the most successful way (historically) to profit in the cryptocurrency field is to Dollar-Cost Average. This is the process of buying crypto in the same USD amount at a specific time each week (or month, or day, or hour, whatever) in order to consistently stack tokens without needing to time the market precisely. We are all human and no matter what your favorite influencer says to you, none of us can predict what will happen in any financial market. This strategy removes all the noise and keeps you on a set purchasing schedule where you don't stress about getting things exactly correct. What Tokens Am I DCA'ing? Starting this week, I will be allocating money that I make from working into different coins on Friday mornings. BTC I'll be stacking $50 of BTC per week as it is still the token that I believe will lead the way in the cryptocurrency market for years to come. BTC is where I want to keep a lot of my net worth because I find it a solid store of value against inflation. ETH I'll stack $25 of ETH. As much as I don't love the ETH network with all the fees, I still see merit in stacking the token to eventually sell it. It is an investment for a profit rather than a diehard belief like I have in other tokens. BNB I'll stack $25 of BNB because I believe that this network will have a ton of action over the next few years. The low fees and all of the quality projects lead me to believe that BNB will continue to grow. HIVE I'll stack $25 of HIVE... Nothing really needs to be said on this one, we're all on the same page. RUNE I'll stack $10 of RUNE because I love the look of their new THORchain site and believe that permissionless swaps will be huge in maintaining freedom in crypto in the future. CHZ I'll stack $10 of CHZ. As I've mentioned before I love Chiliz because of the HUGE market for sports fans in the world. They just signed on my favorite team, the Philadelphia 76ers... Exciting LINK I'll stack $10 of LINK. I think that this oracle just has so many implementations and is being used to widely that it is bound for success. MATIC I'll stack $10 of MATIC. I think that this blockchain may prove to be successful as it will eventually overtake or at least improve the ETH network significantly. I'll keep everyone updated on how things are going. Feel free to copy the strategy, but be sure to do your own research. These are tokens that I think will be very important in the cryptocurrency space and am excited to start building up my holdings on a regular basis! @mariosfame gif once again, I love it: https://leofinance.io/@mariosfame @sgt-dan with this sick pic: https://leofinance.io/@sgt-dan @gr33nm4ster made this awesome gif I needed to share, we thank him as well!: https://leofinance.io/@gr33nm4ster NEW TRIBE HERE! I Missed dydx... What's Next? Cryptocurrency is an absolutely unforgiving field. Some days you're on top claiming thousands of dollars in airdrop tokens from Uniswap or Ampleforth and then the next you're missing out on a huge drop that you should have been better prepared for. Around the time that Uniswap airdropped tokens to users, I got to theorizing about different DEX's and DeFi platforms that may one day offer a token of their own for governance. I compiled a list of platforms by googling around to find out what DeFi platforms people loved to use and guess what was at the absolute top of that list... dydx. What Happened? The airdrop for this token is MASSIVE and for users that traded between $1-$10000 on their platform, you were entitled to claim almost 311 tokens... A current valuation of $7560.41 Despite having this token on the top of a list of platforms to make a few swaps on to prepare myself, I just never got around to doing it. I can't lie and say life has been overwhelming, I have no real excuse for not doing it other than being lazy and ambivalent towards it thinking "oh I can do it eventually". So what do I do next? Well I am determined to not let this happen again. The prospect of waking up one day and being given thousands of dollars in cryptocurrency is something that makes this space wildly exciting. I will be creating a new list of decentralized websites that I believe have the chance of offering up a token of their own one day. I will then take some action and actually use the sites this time as I have made the mistakes already of not doing so in the past. I know that some platforms that look promising to me already include those in the NFT field such as Opensea as their competitor Rarible already has a token of their own. I also have think that one day we will see a Metamask drop of some kind and that will be a crazy day for most of the crypto world. Nonetheless, it is time to take some action and start making moves that I think will pay off in the future. I don't want to be in this position again. Let me know if you have any theories about sites that may one day launch a token of their own, I would love to check them out! **Links and Connections:** JOIN SPLINTERLANDS HERE JOIN PRESEARCH BEFORE ITS TOO LATE! Torum Looking Primed To Explode I've written about Torum in the past. When I first started out here on Read.cash I decided that a good way to increase my knowledge and create content was to interview people who were either working in the cryptocurrency space or were very successful here on Hive. One of the very first interviews that I conducted was with Jayson Tan, Torum's co-founder and head of community engagement. He was super cool and got back to me really fast. It surprised me that people who were so "big time" in a project were willing to talk to someone with less than a dozen followers on their blog, but Jayson and many others surprised me back then and were really helpful in building up my profile and personal knowledge. At that point, nobody I know had really heard about Torum and the only reason I found it was that someone had posted their referral link on one of their Publish0x posts. I learned that it was a social media platform for crypto-enthusiasts and that what it lacked in earnings potential it made up for in a clean web design and moderately active community. Well as of just a few days ago, that changed... Torum has always had their XTM token (native-site currency) but now it has been launched on Uniswap and is trading for between 13 and 17 cents depending on the hour. You have always been able to earn around 5 tokens per day and a few more per week by completing "missions" centered around content creation and engagement, but now those tokens have a real tradable value. With a max supply of 800 million tokens, XTM gained a valuation of well over 100 million dollars in just a few days with already having a reasonable amount of liquidity seeing 24hr volume around 350k USD. Not a bad start for Jayson and the team. I have known about Torum for quite a while and am genuinely very happy for the team. Their product has always been awesome. I have written about how they may be a rival for Hive, and they even mention Hive in their whitepaper in an "indirect" attempt to say they have more to offer; I don't really mind reading that because they are obviously trying to convince users to join their site. I am comfortable using numerous Web 3.0. type sites and I think that Torum will continue to develop as one of the leaders in the field. I have also noticed a ton of overlap as there is a ton of conversation on Torum regarding @splinterlands and there are a lot of posts from Leo or POB being posted there as well. They did a great job planning out their product and it is genuinely very easy to use and earn rewards; I hope we can keep finding overlaps between their product and the Hive ecosystem and continue to build alongside one another. https://leofinance.io/@splinterlands I think that their token could develop to be worth a fair bit of money. It has a capped supply and thus it is going to be a deflationary style token. If people use Torum and it continues to grow, we may see that token price really shoot up. Who knows, obviously that's not financial advice. I do recommend checking out Torum if you get the chance, there is a reward of 35 XTM just for signing up using this link, and that is now worth around $5 for something that takes just a minute of your time! It is definitely financial advice to get free money for just signing up, but do your research before doing something like investing in their liquidity pool on Uniswap or anything like that! https://www.torum.com/signup?referral_code=robminnick23 **Links and Connections:** JOIN SPLINTERLANDS HERE JOIN PRESEARCH BEFORE ITS TOO LATE! New Job Pursuit - English Teaching Those who know me offline already know that I have a lot of... indecision when it comes to pursuing a career or educational path. With that being said, I do know that there has always been something that I have truly enjoyed doing and would love to use as an intermediary job before really pursuing a career or graduate degree here in America; teaching English to international students. Back in college I spent a few months teaching 5th graders through one of my courses. Though the kids were pretty nice, I realized that I cannot handle the energy level of 10 year olds in a classroom of any kind. However, that same set of courses led me to a course titled "Teaching English Internationally" and made me realize that people of all ages are in need of a teacher. I'm 22 years old and I realized that the only thing I truly had a mastery of at this point in my life is the language that I have been speaking since I was born: English. I did not realize the depth of demand for English tutoring around the world. Though there is a ton of need in the earlier age groups trying to learn the language, there is also a ton of demand for students coming to the United States, England or Australia to study who have a solid basis in English, but lack some understanding of the more difficult or academic language in English. While I was abroad in Australia, I was able to fill in teaching a course for 25-35 year old MBA students looking to get a little extra assistance with English regarding more complex business terms. The students were there not because they were required to be or because it would impress someone, but because they genuinely needed the help to excel in their field. They were interested, passionate and curious about the language; this is the kind of teaching I think I would really enjoy. I started to do some research into teaching English around different parts of the world and was absolutely shocked by the results that I found. Of course there is private tutoring, but that can be sporadic in demand. English teaching at international schools however... That seems like a goldmine. Check out this article by Go Overseas to see just how high that demand really is. https://www.gooverseas.com/blog/countries-pay-highest-salaries-teaching-abroad In places like the UAE or Japan, English teachers at international high schools or undergraduate level universities are bringing in anywhere between $2200- $5500 a month! I know that is a wide range, but even just looking at averages it is a pretty good deal for an entry level position, plus many of these programs provide housing, meals and transportation for their teachers. Most of these programs require you to have a bachelor's degree (in anything) and a TEFL certification (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) and then you are ready to go. Many require you to be a native speaker, but many do not require that. If you are in a strange in between moment in life like I am, maybe give a little thought into teaching your native language to people around the world. I think that no matter what language you are speaking there will be someone out there looking for someone to help them learn or master that language. I'll be taking my TEFL certification over the next few weeks, I'll update you all if anything comes together for me in terms of finding students to teach! **Links and Connections:** JOIN SPLINTERLANDS HERE JOIN PRESEARCH BEFORE ITS TOO LATE!
