US Open Prize Money Hits An All Time High
I have always been amazed by how much money sports are able to generate in revenue for the governing associations and in prize/contract money for the players.
This fact is no different for the ATP and WTA Tours putting on the US Open for tennis right now. The prize money has actually reached a new all-time high despite the fact that there are fewer fans than in years past (excluding last year of course due to Covid issues). The total prize pool for the 2021 US Open is $57,462,000.
This is a mind boggling amount of money to even think about as hundreds of players are getting paid a minimum of $75,000 each for a first round exit in the men's bracket.
I'm a huge fan of tennis, especially of the ATP tour and used to play quite a lot in high school. I wish that I had started earlier in life, not that I think I would have made the ATP tour... But who knows?
I have seen numbers claiming that the ATP tour brings in around $120 million USD each year just from their broadcasting revenue alone. Sponsors of the ATP include Emirates, J.P. Morgan, American Express, Deloitte, Mercedes, Lacoste and of course Rolex. With big corporations like this, I can only begin to imagine how much money the tour is bringing in from displaying and advertising those names, a lot of that info seems a bit private though I may just be missing it.
Revenues aside, this year's tournament has been awesome and having fans in the stadium is huge for the players and for the viewer experience. The fans are the reason that we have professional sports and they will always be the most important aspect of the game other than the players in my opinion.

Fun Upcoming Segment on 3Speak
In looking to get more involved on the Hive blockchain, I have been admittedly spreading myself a bit thin around different platforms. With that being said, I know what I need to do to reach the level of engagement on the platforms I like, I just need to focus up a little more.
I've been really wanting to get more involved with the @threespeak community. As a result, I've come up with a little video segment that I think may be entertaining and also relevant to members of the @leofinance community. https://leofinance.io/@threespeakhttps://leofinance.io/@leofinance
The plan is to find some of the goofiest things happening in the crypto world and make a video of me checking it out and giving a review of it.
It is a similar concept to "One-Star Reviews" on Vice. I will be finding the weirdest possible things in the crypto space. I just need to be careful not to get scammed or rug pulled or clicking on malware or things like that. I think I will be looking around for the worst reviewed crypto platforms that are recognized as non-scammy and check those out.
I'll record myself doing these things and hopefully bring some entertainment to your Hive feeds. Let's see if it is something that will be able to be a segment or if there are only a few goofy things to check out.
Let me know if you have any platforms or coins I should be checking out in this sense and I will do my best to give a review on them. I'm still working on a name for the segment so I will take recommendations for that as well LOL
I'll try to get episode 1 out by Saturday evening eastern time!

Big News For Presearch
A few months ago, I started using the Presearch search engine in harmony with my Brave browser. The Presearch engine works very similar to that of Google or Yahoo in providing results for your searches but prides itself on being private and decentralized as well.
Presearch pays users in their PRE tokens for each search based on a weighted formula that they have created that takes into account the importance of specific keywords. Presearch also allows users to purchase "staking" rights to specific keywords and allow them to provide some advertisements that show up when that word is searched; this is a similar concept to Google's Adwords, but a bit more decentralized as users can stake their PRE to directly increase their visibility.
Presearch is run by individual node operators filtering searches through their decentralized node. Anyone can be a node operator and you just have to stake 1000 PRE to the network to be able to do so, this is still something that can be done for under $100 USD.
The big news for Presearch is that they are being listed as a default search engine for European Android Devices. Cointelegraph put an article out about this today and it can be found here. https://cointelegraph.com/news/decentralized-search-engine-becomes-default-option-on-european-android-devices
This news saw a spike in the value of the PRE token as well. On the day today, tokens are currently up over 72%. I'm absolutely having some FOMO as I've known about this token for a while but never bought any, only the little bit that I've earned from searching for the last few months.
I think that Presearch is a wonderful concept, but it is my hope that the dev team continues to make a cleaner display. It is still hard to pass up on the ease of using google chrome with their instant results and search suggestions, but the idea of getting paid for searching and maintaining privacy while doing it is something that will be important in the next few years in my opinion.

Tracking BCH Over The Last 3 Months
Over the last few weeks, I have not had very much time to keep up with cryptocurrency nor have I had enough time to posts on Web 3.0. platforms like read.cash or Hive.
To refocus myself, I thought I would catch myself up on the action of the crypto markets as of late and also get myself posting again on all of the different platforms that I have so much respect for.
I thought it would be a nice idea to take a look at the price movements of Bitcoin Cash and look at what is new on the network.
Well in terms of the pricing of BCH, things have actually stayed about the same after three months LOL. This is not a bad thing as steadiness is an attribute many tokens in the crypto market cannot claim to have. With the swings of BTC, I was expecting to see a bit more of an upside, but as we can see from the graph there was a significant rebound from the lows of mid-July.
In looking for news for things happening on BCH, I came across a recent post by @alberdioni8406 about something called the smartBCH side-chain. Apparently, this side-chain will enable the integration of dApps on networks such as Ethereum into the BCH network; something that will be incredibly important to the amount of use-cases present on the BCH network. We all know that BCH provides a platform for smooth and cheap payments, but now there will be the ability to build up popular dApps and integrate them into the network... This could be explosive for the potential of BCH as well as the price of the token. I would recommend keeping an eye on this and checking out the whitepaper for the project found here: https://docs.smartbch.org/smartbch/smartbch_whitepaper-en
dApps are on their way to BCH, get excited and get to stacking BCH! (NFA)

Oh God Things Are Closing Again - Amsterdam Tourism Update
Well here we are again. The world is beginning to slowly re-enter the phases of slowing down their economies in hopes of slowing down the spread of Covid once again.
This morning, a family member of mine sent the CDC travel guidance for Italy, as I am supposed to be going there within a few weeks, which said that travelers should be cautious. After double-checking everything online, nothing seemed to be out of sorts, so I sent her a message back assuring her that there was no need to worry.
However, this got me thinking about our proposed second-leg of the trip: Amsterdam. I figured I would go and check out what their newest regulations were in order to ease my mind that we would be able to spend our trip doing whatever we found in town. I was not happy when I saw the search results.
Now I will go out and say that the word of the United States government alone would not keep me from going, but then I dug a little deeper and found even more depressing news.
I found this article about the measures being taken by the government in Amsterdam and we are right back to the dystopian measures employed this time last year. Though nightclubs closing is not the absolute end of the world, having social distancing back in place at the bars (bars that have to close at midnight with an implemented curfew), events being limited to seating only and live music being prohibited, Amsterdam does not currently sound like a travelers dream destination. https://www.amsterdam.nl/en/coronavirus/current-measures/
I want to make a disclaimer that the tone of this article should not be read as "oh this guy wants the world to open up for him so he can go see it, look how selfish he is", but rather "oh damn, here we go again".
It is believed that around 5.4% of the GDP of the Netherlands comes from tourism, so this is not as large as some other European nations (example would be Italy that in 2019 had over 13% of their GDP come from tourism, I discussed this in a recent article). This probably went into the thought process of lawmakers as they decided to begin reimplementing Covid guidances in the major city.
So let the flashbacks to last year begin. My traveling group and I are being mindful of new guidelines and are looking to re-plan our upcoming trip in order to stay safe and respect the rules of the nations that we will travel to. Hopefully things begin to level out around the world and we can begin traveling and experiencing our world without fear of having to deal with United airlines to get our flights refunded... Good luck to everyone and be sure to stay safe!
Dollar Cost Averaging - A Red Market Reminder
Introduction
The markets are down pretty much all across the board. Within the realm of crypto, Bitcoin is trending down towards 30k with pretty much the entire market following that trend. When things get red, you can either be very upset because your book value just depreciated, or you can be very excited because you are getting the opportunity to accumulate a token you already believed in at a lower fiat price.
I am writing this post as a reminder to everyone (and to myself) that some of the most successful moves in cryptocurrency historically have been those almost devoid of emotion. Those who find success have had a plan and have stuck to it despite the noise and market movements. Many of these people employed the strategy known as dollar cost averaging to find their success.
What Is Dollar Cost Averaging?
Here is an actual definition I found.
Dollar-cost averaging (DCA) is an investment strategy in which an investor divides up the total amount to be invested across periodic purchases of a target asset in an effort to reduce the impact of volatility on the overall purchase. The purchases occur regardless of the asset's price and at regular intervals. In effect, this strategy removes much of the detailed work of attempting to time the market in order to make purchases of equities at the best prices. - Investopedia
It is important to note that the goal of dollar cost averaging is to quell the impact of market volatility because you are getting tokens at a different price each interval. If you go and buy $5 of Bitcoin every day, there are some days where Bitcoin price may be around $35k and some where it is around $30k; spreading out your purchases to a set interval will help you find an average acquisition cost somewhere in between those fluctuations.
Why Do It?
One of the most frustrating aspects of crypto in my opinion is the feeling that you get when you either just missed out on a really good situation or just found yourself in a bad one. Some days are going to be better than others, just as with our lives outside of any financial markets.
We always speak of consistency when blogging and engaging on web 3.0. sites, why not find that consistency in all aspects of our financial (and in general every aspect of our) lives. If we are using dollar cost averaging, we can be sure that we will ride with the ebbs and flows of the market instead of being bothered that we jumped on at the wrong point.
Dollar cost averaging is something that can help you avoid massive frustration with yourself and with your investment strategies because it fully takes analysis and emotion out of the equation. Pick it, set it, buy it, repeat. Not financial advice.

Unemployment Rates Went Crazy During Covid
Introduction
After hearing Biden hype up the fact that they added millions of jobs back to the US economy following the conclusion of Covid lockdowns, I could not help but think that they really didn't do much other than allow for the return of businesses to full capacity and thus allow them to "create more jobs". Though I think this statement was twisted to raise positive views of his first few months as president, it does bring up the fact that we reached some of the craziest levels of unemployment EVER during Covid.
The Numbers
The Congressional Research Service issued a report last month documenting the rates of unemployment and charting them throughout different states and economic sectors. That report can be found here but I wanted to look at two of their charts. https://fas.org/sgp/crs/misc/R46554.pdf
(picture upload error)
The first chart that I wanted to check out shows just how wild an effect this will have on our economy compared to economic hardships of the past. Unemployment was 4.8% higher than the peak of 2009. Now, there were reasons for this that ranged beyond the fear of getting sick, including federal boosts to people collecting unemployment that made it impossible for many businesses to attract employees back; however, I am not interested in discussing whether this was a good or bad thing as it is still a fact nonetheless that almost 15% of our population that was actively seeking work were unable to find a job during this time. With levels of unemployment at such insane levels, one can only begin to imagine the long term costs of playing catch up in order to get the economy back to the levels of production they once were at.
(picture upload error)
This second chart gives a more detailed breakdown of the individual economic sectors that were hardest hit by Covid. You can see that at the peak, rates were at unheard of levels. It follows logically that a sector like Hospitality would take a beating as people were trapped in their homes for almost a year, but we can't forget about sectors such as manufacturing or utilities as the effects are quite clear with the massive inflation on groceries or even on your electricity bills.
Takeaways
We are living in a world that is more interconnected than ever before in our history. This connection is not just referring to the ability to send an instant message to someone all the way across the world, but also in the fact that someone across your own country is working hard so that you have the food you need at your local store. When things stand still in such a connected world, everyone feels the consequences of that.
I can only begin to imagine what other types of economic issues will arise in the wake of Covid-19, but one thing that is coming to my mind are the insane inflation rates we have been experiencing but have not been reported on often by our governments and mass media. When things begin to come to light and people begin to realize the importance of the statistics that are out there on this matter, I am worried that we will see drastic price swings in almost every sector.
This is why I am always recommending crypto to people. None of us could have predicted Covid and the unemployment levels that followed, but we could have predicted that the US dollar would inflate like a balloon without being reported on by a nation that fears having it's control slip away. This is not financial advice, but just remember to remain conscious of the reality of our world and the groups that are governing it in order to stay in the best control of your own personal situations. Just wanted to offer a few stats and show the financial impact of this world issue we are all living through.

The Importance Of Microblogging In The Fight Against Big Tech
When creating a tribe, I thought something that was incredibly important was to be sure not to limit or influence the style of post being put out by users. While there is more conversation and intellectual stimulation coming from long-form posts, there is a large marketing draw when giving a space for short posts. Little blurbs of information that would be called a sh*tpost on here are incredibly valuable to bringing in new users who feel more comfortable posting at a short length.
What Is Microblogging?
Microblogging is something that we see on popular apps like Twitter. It is shorter posts that can range from one word to around 200 characters at maximum.
Why Microblogging Helps Onboarding
Imagine you are watching the news and see a segment about Bitcoin. I would go out on a limb and say that the large majority of the audience watching that segment does not have a background in cryptography or understand the technical aspects of hashes or mining. BUT there is a good amount of people that would comment on the way the reporter spoke about crypto, or people that would create memes from the segment. There are a ton of people willing to make a comment on a given topic, but not as many people who want to do technical research or post in depth on a topic.
Reactionary posting like we see on Twitter during a major event is a boatload of possible content that could end up here on Hive if people felt comfortable posting it. With all of the great content that has been produced on Hive, it can be intimidating for new authors to contribute as they may feel they lack the knowledge to compete with other authors. If we can provide a space for reactionary content, pseudo-sh*tposts, memes, pictures, jokes, roasts, etc. we could see EXPLOSIVE growth in our ecosystem.
Projects To Watch
It's been a while since we've heard about Project Blank on the Hive blockchain, but this is exactly what they are seeking to accomplish in the financial/crypto world. With the growth of noise.cash, I hope that we see this project come to fruition soon so Hive doesn't fall behind.
I am seeking to accomplish this on @dunksocial on the Hive blockchain by curating microblogging content with similar upvote power as the long-form content. I have also been creating game threads for NBA games where I welcome short reactions to the game and curate those reactions. I think that sports have a great need for microblogging as there is so much to talk about during the game and during the season that does not require the need to analyze statistics; we need memes, we need jokes and we need short-form content! Let's embrace shorter posts and try to recognize the positives they bring to our ecosystem. https://leofinance.io/@dunksocial

$TATA A Disney Partnership Gem?
Just the other day I came across a coin on the BSC and was immediately stopped in my tracks due to the name: Hakuna Matata Coin.
For those of you who don't recognize this name, it is a popular Swahili phrase meaning "no worries" that was used in a song in Disney's Lion King movie. Who can forget the scene when a lemur and a hog tell a young lion to quite literally stop worrying about the death of his father and have a numerous year montage where they are just vibing out and walking around in the jungle.
What Is $TATA?
The concept that this token seeks to accomplish is actually quite interesting; they want to bridge the gap between charity/philanthropy and the cryptocurrency world.
Here is what is essentially their mission statement regarding token utility:
Through dedicating a fixed initial supply pool for donations on one hand and continuously feeding the pool from the daily volume of transactions and the interactions of buyers and sellers, HakunaMatata will be capable of targeting a myriad of charitable causes and organizations around the world, especially within underserved and unserved markets, ranging from combating world hunger, saving endangered animals, building schools and hospitals, and significantly more.
Similar to what SAFEMOON is doing, transactions trigger what is essentially a large tax on the sale of a token, but rather than redistributing it to users alone, this also in part goes to "charitable causes". If done with complete transparency, this is a great way to help the world using crypto gains... If done without transparency this could be a fantastically designed Ponzi scheme... Only time will tell if they are legit.
Why This Token Grabs My Attention:
Well though I am interested in the aspects of charity this token is able to provide to the world, the reason it is so interesting to me is because I recognize the incredible amount of influence that Disney has in our world. Disney is a GIANT corporation that is constantly churning out enormous profits and seemingly endless media. $TATA is seeking out partnerships with Disney and seeking the rights to use their characters from the Lion King in return for providing Disney a philanthropic outlet.
If this coin does turn out to be legit (I see no reason to believe either way yet as it has just come into existence) it would be a great initial access-point for Disney into cryptocurrency. If we saw one of the biggest corporations in the world involving their trademarks with a cryptocurrency market, I could not even begin to imagine the effect that would have on the price of $TATA.
If they are able to pull off the impossible (getting something from Disney for free) this may be a very influential token. I have no idea whether or not it will succeed, but I will personally be keeping an eye on it.

A New Tribe On Hive!
I am proud to announce that @dunksocial is officially live! dunksocial.io will be helping basketball fans around the world create value by engaging with and creating content about the sport that they love. https://dunksocial.io/@dunksocial
There have been a fair amount of questions regarding the tokenomics, goals, use cases and structure of the Dunk Social platform; so I am writing this post to clear all that up and provide details to everyone here and everyone who will come.
Roadmap
June 2021: The launch of the platform. Distribution of tokens according to tokenomics stated later on in this post.
July 2021- October 2021: Run numerous marketing campaigns in order to maximize engagement ahead of the 2021-2022 NBA season. During this time we expect continuous growth in network engagement and content creation as more people begin to join the site seeking rewards and content.
October 2021-June 2022: See large network growth with the NBA season in full swing. During this time, many contests will be run to increase engagement on the site including possible aspects of community-run sports prediction initiatives and engagement contests based on individual NBA team engagement levels on the network. During this time it is our hope that we will see increased engagement regarding international leagues and players to foster 24/7 engagement on the network.
July 2022 onward: Seek affiliate marketing status from the NBA. Seek engagement from individual NBA personalities (i.e. Giannis Antetokounmpo) and teams. Integrate with existing blogging networks to create a space where everyone is able to monetize their content.
Site Functionality:
Curators will get 50% of the rewards from upvoted posts
Authors will get 47.5% of the rewards from upvoted posts
@dunksocial will be a 2.5% beneficiary of rewards posts https://dunksocial.io/@dunksocial
The amount of issued tokens per day will be specified via the tokenomics inflation schedule later in this post.
DUNK tokens are stakable and delegatable with a powerdown timeframe of 14 days over 2 transactions. Delegation cooldowns are 7 days.
Desired use cases for DUNK tokens include future partnerships with video game companies as an alternative form of payment in game, NFT integrations similar to that of NBA Topshot, standard blogging rewards.
Tokenomics:
The tokenomics of this platform are strikingly similar to those employed by Cinetv.io as I have consulted @themarkymark for an inflation schedule for the rewards pool. https://dunksocial.io/@themarkymark
*image found at https://dunksocial.io/hive-167922/@rob23/dunk-social-is-live-launch-details-claimdrop-1
For those unfamiliar with this, the rewards per day is what you can focus on. It has been designed for that pool to decrease 5% every year in order to be deflationary in distribution.
This chart also implies a total supply of 10 million tokens, but this should be viewed as the maximum that can be issued; not all tokens have to be issued if not needed, but 10 million is the maximum that will be issued outside of the rewards pool.
The current breakdown for issuance is the following with the maximum allowance being 10 million tokens:
10% of maximum allowance has been issued to @dunksocial for lead curation. This will be fully staked. https://dunksocial.io/@dunksocial
5% of the maximum allowance has been issued to @rob23 for "team tokens". This will be fully staked. https://dunksocial.io/@rob23
10% of the maximum allowance has been set aside for team investors. These tokens will not be issued to begin.
5% of the maximum allowance will be issued to a group of 10 pre-selected content creators that will spark early content on the platform
5%-7% of the maximum allowance will be distributed via the claimdrop based on participation. This will be specified in the next section.
10% of the maximum allowance will be issued on a need-basis for contests, giveaways, marketing, etc.
10% of the maximum allowance will be released into the Hive-Engine market for purchase! Right now the price is 10 DUNK per Hive, though the market is reflecting that I am almost a millionaire right now (LOL, but maybe some day)
This means that between 53-55% of possible tokens to be issued will not yet be put out there. Anything from this that is released will be announced at least 3 days in advance in order to maintain transparency.
"Claimdrop"
Rather than creating another platform where the whales are the same because they are getting more tokens from an airdrop, I want to create something that starts fresh.
I will be posting once per week about this for the next 3 weeks. Each time that you like one of these posts, I will send you 500 DUNK! Additionally if you follow @dunksocial you will qualify for another 100 DUNK! It is that simple, I want to get the ball rolling and give people a chance to get an even start (though whales can tack on more DUNK from the market). https://dunksocial.io/@dunksocial

Why Security Matters
After months of stalling, I finally spent an entire day going through all of my apps, wallets, accounts, etc. to verify and strengthen my passwords and keys. Up until today, I have had very weak security on most of my accounts as I have used the same password for the last eight years or so. Now I have gone through and added two-factor security to numerous accounts and auto generated strong passwords to use.
The most painstaking part of my day was not writing down the 12-24 word seed phrases from different crypto wallets. Instead, it was the painstaking action of copying down the hundreds of letters and numbers that culminate in our Hive keys. Seeing that I have three accounts that I manage now on Hive, you can imagine how long it took me to write down my active, posting, memo and owner keys along with my password strings... Yes a few hours.
Now that I have all that done, I finally have some peace of mind that is not dependent on my laptop staying in function and storing my passwords there. Call me old fashioned, but there is nothing like a hard copy backup to establish that peace of mind.
Why Make Backups?
Well if you are as fortunate as I have been regarding the health of my laptop, it becomes easy to forget that you are one coffee spill or drop off the couch away from losing your computer. Now of course, there is always the chance that your hard drive can be restored and recovered after damages, but do you really want to run that risk?
I'm not moving big funds around, but if you are someone who has a ton of money (or anyone really), you don't want to be in a position where a mistake can cost you access to all of your funds.
If your Hive keys are stored on your desktop and you lose that file, you're pretty much screwed. That old saying of "not your keys, not your crypto" is a dual edged sword for sure. If you aren't careful to store those keys in numerous places and ensure the safety and protection of them, you are one catastrophe away from never having access to that wallet again; we are decentralized and nobody will be there to help you recover it.
Examples
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/12/technology/bitcoin-passwords-wallets-fortunes.html
This article shows the devastation of getting locked out of your cryptocurrency because you were not careful enough to store your keys safely.
https://news.bitcoin.com/bitcoiner-loses-password-to-7002-bitcoins-worth-240-million/
This one is just devastating. A German programmer lost access to over 7,000 Bitcoins because he stored the keys on a hard drive that he lost. He actually had a hard copy on paper that he lost as well. This just emphasizes the importance of not only storing your keys on paper, but also storing it in numerous locations. You never know if that five minutes you spend writing it down will result in millions of dollars being saved in the future.
Two Factor Authentication
Though it can be annoying to constantly have to type in a few numbers every time you want to log onto something, the concept of two factor authentication is a real blessing for security purposes. If say your email password is compromised, hackers would still have to find a way to generate that pesky little number from your authenticator app in order to break through and access your messages.
Security in a sense is a lot of hassle and burden until it is needed. Nobody likes wasting time finding information for logins or resetting passwords until there is a time when doing that will either save your money or save your personal information.
Parting Words
I really recommend doing what I did today to ensure the peace of mind for your information and for your money. Taking a few hours here might save you big time stress in the future, you really never know until the time comes that it is needed. Do yourself a favor and become certain about your logins and security measures; you'll thank yourself later on.

Keeping Confidence When The Candles Are Red
Panic selling.
The process of transferring wealth from the impatient to the patient.
Throughout my time in the cryptocurrency space, my biggest regret has been selling when things start to look bleak. I have sold off positions much too quickly and failed to reap the real benefits of that investment as a result. I discussed this a bit in a previous post about developing long-term thinking, but patience and forward-thinking vision are skills I am seeking to acquire as they are the recipe for success in my opinion.
Cub
If we look at Cub for example, I just bought in the other day around $1.90 expecting that utility such as the Leo Bridge may send the price trending the other way for weeks to come. That has not been the case as the price has been on a downswing between $1.70-$1.80 ever since I made my buy. Now it is as low as 70 cents depending on the hour.
Seeing the value continuing to go down despite what I believe to be great projects being launched on top of the platform, I felt the strong urge to sell and cut losses. However, this time I stopped and thought about it.
We can't predict the markets. We just can't. Even if it makes logical sense that more utility would lead to a price increase, it doesn't necessarily have to happen in a linear fashion. Looking at the situation further, I realized that I truly do love the project and I trust the team; how important is price in the short term? I'm thinking it isn't the most important thing in the world. I held onto my position and even added to it a little bit; here is why:
Motivation To HODL
If you are serious about investing into a project, I think it should go without saying you should do some research on it. I research tokens in the form of their roadmap and whitepapers and everything I saw regarding documentation for Cub was well thought out, realistic and had great vision. That is what it is about for me. I want to be involved with things that may change the world. I have to do my due diligence and not panic over a difference of a few cents in the short-term.
Think about Bitcoin. In 2014 the year end price was 56% lower than the year open. Think about how many people probably dumped everything after losing half of their value and cutting losses. The year end price that year was around $322... Which is now somewhere around half a percent of the coins worth now. I'm not promising that whatever token you are holding will have such extreme results, but if you believe in the fundamentals you have to look at the bigger picture here!
Welcome Red Candles, Embrace The Uncomfortable
If you truly believe in the project and the price takes a dip, that is a fantastic buying opportunity (NFA). The most successful trends in history were weird at first, but the people who saw the future for the projects and ignored the short-term noise were amongst those making history.
Take the internet for example. That is a wildly insane concept if you have no previous exposure to it. However, those who truly believed in it found huge riches during the .com boom. That trend is continuing now as computing power is improving and so many new networks are being created to power the internet.
Innovation is something that feels incredibly weird until it works. There are so many examples of people who stuck to what they believed in and found success. That success is not guaranteed of course, but you can't achieve it without first believing in the project; the same mindset holds with investing.

Mass Adoption Incoming: Paypal Enables Crypto Withdrawals
Coindesk reported on it first just a few days ago as a rumor, but it really does seem that Paypal will be following through with enabling customers to withdrawal their BTC, LTC, BCH and ETH from their Paypal accounts.
In Q1 2021, Paypal handled around 285 billion USD of transactions on their platform. With this kind of money moving around, one can only wonder how much of it may find its way into the crypto world if being offered a seamless transition. With such a large company enabling cryptocurrency transactions, we should look at what this may mean for the ecosystem as a whole.
Increased Trust
If this giant money moving company is willing to put enough trust into the crypto world that they will not only offer the purchase of, but also the withdrawal of crypto assets the bar is being set much higher than that of the past.
Learning about cryptocurrency, I heard of exchanges such as BitInstant or Mount Gox. BitInstant was run by a very young Charlie Shrem, who ended up in jail for being negligent in enforcing anti-money laundering on the site and allowing for a cash flow into the silk road. Mount Gox was formerly a magic card game fandom site that became the custodian of over 70% of the worlds Bitcoin at one point.
Going from experiment and uncertainty to a trusted name such as Paypal or Coinbase has been and will continue to be enormous for bringing in big money investors to the ecosystem. With a proven track record and governmentally enforced clarity and regulations, Paypal may not be the crypto exchange of the future, but it may help to bring on a lot of people who have been sidelined out of fear that they might get screwed over.
Seamless Purchases
There are over 392 million accounts on Paypal. My guess would be that not every one of those users has a cryptocurrency account on an exchange or a cryptocurrency wallet of any kind. Now they will! With one click, they enable their accounts to buy, store and transfer cryptocurrency. The ease of use will be incredibly helpful in onboarding new people into cryptocurrency. It'll be a baby step of course, but I expect a lot of documentation to come out as well to help people answer questions they may have regarding what they are purchasing.
Increased Volume
With more people being able to purchase and store crypto without the need to sign up for a different account than the Paypal they already have, I predict we will see an increase in the amount of volume in crypto markets. It won't be a massive boom all at once, but this is another product that will be lowering the barriers to entry and providing a direct use case for cryptocurrency. With the established nature of the platform, I think that Paypal will be leading the way for US-based financial apps to really begin integrating and rewarding cryptocurrency users at a high rate. With the growing popularity of the market, financial platforms will be incentivized to offer benefits on their platforms to attract new users and increase the amount of usage that existing users get out of their applications.

Bitcoin Is Invincible: SHA 256 Algorithm
The other day I was spending some time watching Youtube videos and was recommended a video about the algorithm that powers Bitcoin.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8COArd_EREw
The video discusses a math problem that has never been solved by an individual called the SHA 256 Hash Function. Essentially the algorithm takes a data input and spits out an output of 256 bits or 1's and 0's. I recommend watching the video for the full explanation, but here is a little of what I took away from it:
What Makes It Special?
The power behind this algorithm is that to get the same output you must guess the exact input, meaning that it is pretty much impossible to do without powerful computers that are guessing quintillions of outputs every second. Bitcoin uses this algorithm in its mining process to make it incredibly difficult for a hack to occur as the computers would need to get insanely lucky dozens of times to even have a chance at gaining control over a small portion of the network.
This screenshot shows the number of possible SHA 256 hashes, or in other words, your chance of randomly generating the same hash as the input did is 1 divided by this number.
What It Means For Bitcoin
As the video discusses, someone who is able to reverse the algorithm and be able to generate correct SHA 256 hashes quickly would become very rich as they would be winning the race on all Bitcoin blocks. The issue with that is that nobody has ever been able to figure out how to reverse the algorithm as it is one of the most complex mathematical problems in the world and is unsolved. Though Bitcoin mining does not require the exact hash to be generated (just something arbitrarily close), it is still incredibly difficult to find a hash that will work.
This should help to prove to you how secure the Bitcoin network really is and how difficult mining actually is. Your chance of hitting the right hash is incredibly low unless you are doing a crazy amount of guesses every second, something a super computer would be capable of.
I never really considered just how complex algorithms can be, but knowing that one of the cryptocurrencies that I truly believe in is backed by a math problem that is literally unsolvable brings a lot of confidence to my mind. Satoshi Nakamoto was an absolute visionary (visionaries?) and Bitcoin is something that set the groundwork for all of the blockchain and cryptographic technology that is rolling out today.
I really recommend reading the Bitcoin whitepaper as well before you go and buy Bitcoin because although it is becoming obvious that is is a good investment (NFA), you should really know what it is that you are purchasing. Concepts like the gambler's quandary and SHA 256 hash algorithms are things that sound super complex until you watch a video like this and have it explained. Hopefully you find all this interesting and it helps you either gain peace of mind or grow your investment knowledge in this new field that we all share.

Dunk Social - My New Hive Tribe
Hey everyone, I have just spent the afternoon finalizing all of the data and organizational stuff for the back end of my new tribe @dunksocial https://leofinance.io/@dunksocial
After working through inflation schedules and different technical aspects of the platform, Dunk Coin (DUNK) is now officially listed on TribalDex. Don't get too excited though, I have not yet issued any tokens as I am waiting for the platform to be added to the Hive server and for a rewards pool to be generated before starting us up.
I am very excited, so I wanted to share some of my hopes for how this platform will help Hive grow.
What Will Set Dunk Social Apart?
I would like to say that I think @leofinance is the best community on Hive right now. There are smart people sharing incredible insights on markets and cryptocurrencies every day and the team has done an amazing job at constructing a platform that is clean and always growing. https://leofinance.io/@leofinance
With that being said, Leo Finance is targeting an audience that is cryptocurrency inclined or else knowledgeable/interested in financial concepts. There are some metaphorical barriers to entry in the sense that research needs to be done and an understanding needs to be had on complex concepts (at times) in order to produce quality content here.
I want Dunk Social to be a platform where the only barrier to entry is an interest in basketball. Content that is released can contain research, but it can also be incredibly reactionary as commentary on a game a user may have just watched, or a rumor they heard about specific players/teams.
I want Dunk Social to be :
Freeflowing
Content can range from microblogging to long-form content, anyone can find their niche if either form are acceptable to the community.
Accessible
I will be creating documentation and video walkthroughs about signing up for the platform to try to simplify the complex nature of getting Hive keys, curating, staking, etc.
A lot of us don't give enough credit to ourselves for understanding some of the most difficult concepts on the internet right now. Cryptocurrency is incredibly complex and hard to understand. We need to be sure that we are making the process to sign up and the explanations for how things work on the platform easily replicable and understood. I want Dunk Social to be a platform that brings people onto the Hive blockchain who currently have no idea how cryptocurrency even works.
Scalable
I will also be trying my best to power up accounts with personal Hive that I have in order to avoid people needing to buy Hive when they first start to post; that'll get expensive quickly, but hopefully I will be able to keep up with the growing audience.
Varied
Nothing generates content from a sports perspective like controversy and debate. I want to see a platform where people post about their favorite players and generate value defending their claims to doubters who are commenting. Basketball is a sport where teams are supported rabidly and a lot of bias is involved in doing so; I hope to see content that conflicts, debates and argues in a respectful way (one can hope at least).
Conclusion
I hope that this is an innovative platform that allows people to make their first dive into web 3.0. I hope that it is something that everyone can find some enjoyment on, even if you are not a huge basketball fan. Please follow @dunksocial as I will begin posting with that account as soon as everything is ready. I am hoping to have it ready by June 1st, but we will see what the pace is on adding Dunk Social to the Hive server. Thank you for reading and hopefully this will help us all in the long run! https://leofinance.io/@dunksocial

Cheap Crypto Networks To Transact On
The ease of moving money around with cryptocurrency is something that I have personally started to take for granted. To be able to type in an address of seemingly random numbers and have 'magic internet money' appear in a matter of minutes (sometimes seconds) is an incredible reality when thinking about how difficult the alternatives are. Where before you had to send money via wire transfer or use a third party service such as Western Union, you can now transact faster than ever before and even save a lot of money in the process.
Though there are some networks that are incredibly expensive to transact on such as Ethereum and now Bitcoin is catching up slowly, there are numerous networks that are very very cheap to use. There are more options than the one's that I am offering here, but I wanted to give some options that I have personal experience transacting on.
Five Cheap Crypto Networks I Have Used:
5. Bitcoin Cash
BCH has great transaction fees that have been bouncing around between 5 and 10 cents on average; often times this is even less. Payouts that I get from Read.cash go through instantly and are done for often around 2 or 3 cents.
4. Litecoin
Similar to Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin is also incredibly affordable to transact on with fees hanging around 10 cents on a consistent basis. Litecoin is also seen as one of the three crypto "OG's" so there are a lot of vendors that accept it as a payment; easy for you and easy for them, a win-win.
3. Stellar Lumens
The transaction fee on the Stellar network is set at .00001 XLM or around $0.0000044 USD at the time of writing this. I was inspired to write a little post about this because I just transacted with Stellar and it was done so quickly and cheaply that it brought a smile to my face and to my wallet.
2. EOS
EOS prides itself on having no fees. Similar to Stellar, the costs to transact on the EOS network are so close to zero that they just say it is free (it really basically is). EOS seems to have great technology and has caught the eye of companies such as Apple; if something is so cheap and efficient, it is definitely something to consider using.
1. Hive
Last we have the beautiful network of Hive. Transactions are instant, seamless, trustless and free. Hive is the future of blockchain technology and of social media; sending value via Hive is a use case that is not typically thought of when looking at the platform, but it surely is possible and is incredibly affordable as well.
Other notable networks that are super cheap to use include Cardano, XRP and Nano. Do your own research, but for sure Ethereum is not the best way to send crypto right now.
Let me know if there are networks that are even cheaper! I'd love to hear about them!

VeChain (VET): So Much Utility
I hear about VeChain all the time on Twitter as people are constantly shilling it as a low cost gem in the crypto-sphere. In the past I have even held VeChain, but never really bothered to understand anything about it except the price in USD. After doing a little more in depth research on the token and the goals of the team, I am really excited about what the future holds for this group.
What Is VeChain?
VeChain is the token that represents value for the VeChain network, a trustless and distributed "business ecosystem" platform. The VeChain platform is seeking to bring transparency back into business for stakeholders by providing what is described in their whitepaper as a 360 degree view of the entire operations for a given product. With VeChain technology, anyone who is a stakeholder in a company could get live information on any part of the production and distribution processes. They use blockchain technology in harmony with RFID tags to provide accurate tracking and measuring of product quality and timing in distribution.
The VeChain network is seeking to be a scalable solution for transparent organization and accountability. The VeChain token itself is used to create and deploy smart contracts on the chain related to product development and distribution. Their protocol helps to reduce (and eventually eliminate) the need for middlemen in the distribution process; VeChain is seeking to automate the supply chain. Transactions on the network burn an 'energy' token called VeChainThorEnergy (VTHO) in order to be completed. The separation of VET and VTHO seem to have been done in order to promote scalability, something that Ethereum could likely benefit from learning about.
The founders of VeChain are seeking to find a balance between centralization and decentralization as evident from their governance protocol. They use a proof of authority concept to run the network via master nodes. There are 101 of these nodes that are tapped to reach a consensus on protocol decisions and you must be KYC verified to run a node; something that makes sense to me personally as businesses typically aren't run anonymously. A business seeking to use VeChain's technology will likely have a very transparent leadership team and thus the KYC here really just seems like a security measure in my opinion that makes sense.
VeChain Goals:
Partner with existing agencies and corporations to make their businesses better and more transparent. Businesses currently include PwC, Deloitte and Cointelegraph.
Enabling the collection of data on the blockchain from physical products for efficiency purposes. Examples include measuring temperature on a pharma delivery or measuring the speed of a delivery truck.
Create an immutable ledger with almost zero transaction fees.
Create a system for voting to be done by stakeholders of a business that is immutable and transparent.
Create a mobile wallet for convenient interoperability.
Create a chain of immutable data that is easily accessible to all relevant stakeholders of a company.
Improve company efficiency by providing a network to instantly update and share company related information.
Where To Buy VET?
Binance
Binance.us
Huboi
Kucoin
Uphold
Bittrex
Gate.io
Bitfinex
Crypto.com
Likely more places as well.
Conclusion
I think that VeChain has a lot of utility and could be something that a lot of businesses decide to use in order to acclimate to the coming world of blockchain technology and web 3.0. I can't make any prediction for the price, but this is a project that I personally think could be very successful as the use cases are endless when thinking about how much goes into a supply chain. The transparency for stakeholders is something that has not been there in the past, and once they get a taste of it I can't imagine they will want to be without it again. Oh and the tokens are around 11 cents each. NFA

Graduation Day
Though I have written before about my... let's say mixed feelings about my education, today was finally graduation day after four long years.
With the end of assignments, papers and deadlines, I will have at least a few months to work on some start up ideas including my new tribe Dunk Social. College was not necessarily mentally difficult at all times, but took a lot out of me to get past four years of it.
Ready to move on and try to accomplish as many new things as I can and continue to participate on here. Seeing that I have a bit more free time, I will be able to read more articles on here and hopefully engage a lot more than I have been.
I chose to major in Anthropology because I wanted to pick a topic where I could learn more about the people in our world. Hive and read.cash really encompass a lot of what Anthropology is about as we are able to find the humanity and connections between us by participating in community; it is sort of ironic in my opinion!
Sorry for the shortness of the post, I am off to a dinner with the family!

Polygon: A Real Fix For Ethereum?
I have been hearing a ton about Polygon on Twitter the last few days, but really didn't know anything other than that it was supposed to help Ethereum scale somehow.
As a result, I thought a dive into the token was in order and I will now share my findings!
What Is Polygon?
Polygon is an Ethereum side-chain that is seeking to drastically reduce proof-of-stake consensus fees and promote scalability for the network. According to their team website, the goal of the protocol is to enable a multi-chain ecosystem all built upon the Ethereum network. They compare themselves to Polkadot, but with the caveat that their protocol also gains all of the benefits of the Ethereum network; an existing network with millions of users daily.
Here is their feature list from their site:
Polygon is what was formerly known to us as MATIC, and though that token is still being used for governance and fees, the Polygon token is the new guy on the block. Similar to projects such as Cosmos, the Polygon team is seeking to make access to DeFi easier, faster and cheaper by using a scalable second layer. They are seeking to become an internet for blockchains built on the Ethereum network while offering a cleaner and more user-friendly product than Ethereum alone.
There honestly isn't much to be found on their site regarding a road map or future plans, but this seems to be the case with all the players in this field. However, as Cub Finance is showing us, a brilliant roadmap with clear and tangible goals means entirely too little to the average investor right now; don't let that stop you from taking a look at the possible utility here for Polygon.
Token Price
I am most certainly not a financial advisor, but $1.29 for a token that has the possibility of being the governance token for an entire internet of blockchains seems like a solid buy-level to me. I really don't know how to set price predictions or run technical analysis for tokens, but IMO this is another situation where price is not necessarily reflecting utility and promise. Do your own research, but this seems like something we should collectively keep an eye on as more announcements come out from the Polygon team regarding future plans.
Conclusions
While it is my personal opinion that the Binance Smart Chain network has a more promising future in DeFi, it is hard to discount the sheer volume that the Ethereum network takes on every day. Polygon is seeking to make Ethereum better and more affordable for DeFi usage, and if they are successful in doing so there really is no ceiling for the value of Ethereum. I am not really sure what the value of Polygon or Matic will be as a result of this project, but they are attempting to clear aside some major obstacles for the success of Ethereum; best keep an eye on the success-level of this project and check the action on Ethereum accordingly. (NFA)

Can We Trust Tether (USDT)?
What Is Tether?
Tether is a USD-pegged stablecoin. Tether, otherwise referred to as USDT accounts for around 57% of all transactions from fiat currency to Bitcoin according to Investopedia.
It is also the #4 ranked cryptocurrency by market cap according to Coingecko with a cap of around 58.2 billion USD.
The point of Tether and stablecoins like it is to bridge the gap between the worlds of fiat and cryptocurrency. Every Tether token is supposed to be backed with 1 USD or fiat equivalent of one of these four fiat currencies/gold: USD, EUR, CNH, XAU
Is It Trustworthy?
Well when I first began writing this article, I was planning on telling you that it is not trustworthy. There can't possibly be accountability measures to make sure all of their tokens are backed by fiat. With so many alleged hacks and breakdowns on their end, along with being accused by the New York Attorney General of hiding 850 million USD in losses, I figured there must have been some shady business going on.
With that being said, I don't know anymore.
They publish their balance sheets and update them on a 'daily basis' to provide transparency to token holders here: https://wallet.tether.to/transparency
However, this is also in their terms of service:
The composition of the Reserves used to back Tether Tokens is within the sole control and at the sole and absolute discretion of Tether.
Now whether or not this statement is solely for liability purposes, it does reinforce the fact that nobody really has the right to these transparency reports; rather, they are offered as a sort of sign of good-will.
This is also in their terms of service:
JURY TRIAL WAIVER: TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE PARTIES HEREBY IRREVOCABLY AND UNCONDITIONALLY WAIVE ALL RIGHT TO TRIAL BY JURY IN ANY LEGAL ACTION OR PROCEEDING OF ANY KIND WHATSOVER ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OF SERVICE OR ANY BREACH THEREOF, ANY USE OR ATTEMPTED USE OF THE SITE OR THE SERVICE BY YOU, AND/OR ANY OTHER MATTER INVOLVING THE PARTIES.
So as I said, I am not quite sure how to feel about Tether as a company. This ambiguity has also led me to be a little skeptical of whether their reserve numbers are accurate. It appears to me like they may have positioned themselves to avoid liability at extreme levels. This is not to say they don't just have a great lawyer. What I am saying is, it is not quite clear whether or not this group is to be trusted.
Conclusion
If you truly believe that Tether has upwards of 59 billion USD equivalent of value in their reserves, then there is little to worry about here. To me that seems like a lot of money to keep on reserve, but it is being done in other sectors with no issue.
This article is not insinuating that Tether is doing anything wrong at all, but rather just offering some information that is clearly (or not clearly) listed on their website to provide some thought-provoking interpretations of their business.
Let me know what you think about Tether and whether or not you trust them. I currently think that the USDT is a very important token and I think we should all collectively know what we are getting into.

This Dip Is Actually Amazing
FOMO Reset
We all find ourselves saying "I wish I got into X earlier, I think I missed it" or "I hope it dips a little bit so I can buy some more" but then look at the news around the crypto sphere and it looks like the world is on fire.
I can't understand it.
This dip is a gift for those who have been watching prices skyrocket over the last few months without being able to accumulate. This is the fix for FOMO in my opinion, it's like a reset with another opportunity to get in.
It is purely psychological that the dip scares people and it is ironic in my view. People ask for a dip all the time and then when it comes there is too much fear to take action. If you are trusting in your investment plan, I don't think that short term price should matter. In fact, a lower price would be a welcome site as you are able to accumulate more tokens for your purchase. Dollar cost average proponents are salivating with what the market has done the last 24 hours.
The Damage = The Opportunity
Bitcoin is down about 40% from its ATH
Ethereum is down around 35% from its ATH
Cardano is down around 27% from its ATH
Leo is down around 70% from its ATH
Now I am no financial advisor and I could be totally wrong here, but I believe in all of these projects and can't imagine them not retesting and surpassing these ATH's in the future.
If you haven't blanked 2020 out of your mind completely you may remember that Bitcoin took a massive dip in March 2020 from around $8000 to below $4000, a dip that was over 50% of its price. This is nothing new. Think about how it would have felt to get Bitcoin at $4000 and then watch it testing $60,000 just a year later. Who knows? This pattern could very well repeat itself with an extra zero on the price tag.
To me the dip here seems quite synthetic and even propelled by fear. China seems to ban Bitcoin all the time, I don't think it should reflect a dip of this proportion. None of the infrastructure has changed or gotten worse. The great projects are still great in my opinion and still maintain the forward thinking vision that has made me believe in them from the start. It feels like this dip will be short lived... NFA
My Plans
Currently my main financial focus is getting the initial funding for the new tribe @dunksocial together before our desired June 1st launch. That being said, I will be trying to accumulate both Bitcoin and Leo tokens in the coming weeks if this dip is extended long enough that I can cover expenses and have investing funds left over. https://leofinance.io/@dunksocial
If it were possible, I would be stacking tokens from all of the projects that I mentioned as I am partial to believing that these are some of the biggest world-changers in the future. Do your own research, but these are my opinions. To me this looks like a discount on the projects that we have been believing in for all this time, why change up now that it is more affordable to accumulate?

Maintaining Focus and Motivation: Breaking Quarantine Mindset
Depending on where you are reading this from, it is likely that you have experienced some form of government enforced lockdown or restriction on free movement over the last year and a half. While it depends on the type of person you are as to if this was a brutally difficult time or a relief from socialization, the fact is that your activity levels have likely dropped or experienced a drop of some sort.
For myself personally, I have noticed an insane amount of difficulty in focusing on my daily tasks/activities. Additionally, I was walking between 5-8 miles a day before quarantine and am now looking at 2-3 miles a day with most of that coming from a jog. Screen time is up across the board as I have written about before and that adds a sense of feeling tired to my day that further lowers my productivity.
I thought that it would be personally beneficial to share some research on maintaining focus and keeping up levels of motivation; if you are relating to my situation, this post could serve to be helpful for you as well. As I am working on a new tribe now that I have finished up college, I really need to get myself in gear and start creating all of the onboarding documentation I promised that I would make for the tribe. As a refresher, I think these things will be important in onboarding new members to Hive, through any tribe!
Very clear onboarding documentation explaining the sign up process.
Documentation on how value is generated (curation and posting guide and best practices)
Possible topics list to spark creativity in new members
A whitepaper very clearly showing the timeline and goals of the tribe
A comprehensive guide on staking and trading on Hive-Engine
Four Ways To Increase Focus
Exercise
Harvard medical school recommends doing at least 150 minutes a week to cardiovascular activity. This is something that I have personally put a bit to the side with the quarantine mindset. It does not have to be exhausting stuff, but our bodies were meant to move. If we are finding a way to get going every day and increase our physical activities, it could help us feel more awake and thus more focused afterwards.
Cognitive Training Or Mental Competition
There are a lot of apps out there that say their goal is to train your brain. While that may not exactly be the case, solving puzzles or partaking in intellectually stimulating competition may help you to keep your mind active and at optimal levels of performance. I have developed a liking for chess over the last year or so and though I am only around a 1200 ELO, I really enjoy playing against my friends. Doing something every day that is intellectually challenging will help keep your mind fresh.
Eating Well
This is something that has been quite a challenge over the course of COVID because if we aren't cooking, we are often ordering in from local pizza places or fast food places. While the main effects talked about with a bad diet are weight gain, foods with a lot of fat or sugar typically bring along consequences for the functioning of your brain. In order to optimize your productivity, a lot of doctors recommend a sort of Mediterranean diet filled with a lot of fruits, nuts and fish in order to stimulate brain activity and maintain health.
Drinking Less
Now that college is over for me, I will have to cut down on my drinking. There seems to be a saying that you aren't considered an alcoholic until you graduate, but now that I've finally made it I guess it's time to chill out. I wouldn't say that I've been doing anything wildly unhealthy, but it is a fact that consuming alcohol leaves your body and brain worse for the wear the next few days. Alcohol is something that works contrary to exercise in the sense that the chemicals released in your brain interrupt sleep and make you more tired as a result; something that makes focusing and staying motivated much more difficult. Also all alcohols (other than tequila) are depressants and can have negative effects on your mood.
Motivation For Success
It is really important in my opinion to be passionate about whatever it is you are working on. If you are doing work that you loathe or think is busy work, it will feel like a chore to be productive. Now that I am done with schoolwork (which was absolutely a chore) and am focusing my energy and motivation into creating something that I am passionate about. I hope that some of these steps help you in your life as I will be trying my hardest to regain focus and motivation in my own. Good luck!

Possible Upcoming Airdrops?
The cryptocurrency space has seen some of the craziest re-distributions of wealth that I have ever seen before. People are actually ending up with more value than they were even possible expecting; not just through their holdings gaining value but also from a wonderful concept known as an airdrop.
What Is An Airdrop?
Here's the definition of an airdrop right now:
An airdrop is a distribution of a cryptocurrency token or coin, usually for free, to numerous wallet addresses. Airdrops are primarily implemented as a way of gaining attention and new followers, resulting in a larger user-base and a wider disbursement of coins.
Essentially it is a marketing tactic or a way of rewarding stakeholders with a new token. It greases the wheel for involvement with that token and depending on the utility of the token, provides great value and benefits to the person receiving it.
Recent Aidrops
Three recent airdrops that were highly profitable for those who got it were Uniswap, 1Inch and FORTH.
With Uniswap, anyone who had ever conducted a transaction on their network received 400 of their UNI governance tokens. These tokens are used to vote on proposals for the DEX as well as being a possible part of a base pair for liquidity pools. Currently this airdrop would be worth around $15,000 USD... Not bad
With 1Inch a similar pattern of distribution was used but based on the amount of swaps and dollar value on the DEX. The biggest recipient brought home what would now be worth over 50 million USD. Now most did not take home this much, but it shows the potential here.
With FORTH, they used a very specific and somewhat unknown formula for the distribution of their governance token. However, for holding about $8 worth of Ampleforth, I recieved quite a generous airdrop (I have written about this before).
Possible Upcoming Airdrops
With such explosive potential in the field of airdrops, it is important in my opinion to try to use as many quality apps and DEX's as possible as you never know where the next drop will be coming from.
Three such apps/DEX's that I believe may have potential for an airdrop in the near future are:
Metamask:
It goes without saying that this would be enormous. Metamask is the go-to choice of many for DeFi integration. On Cub Finance, many are using Metamask as the intermediary for the Binance Smart Chain and are conducting dozens (or hundreds) of transactions.
As Metamask has recently launched the ability to conduct swaps on the app itself, it is beginning to resemble a DEX aggregator. This fact opens up many possiblities including a governance token. If their airdrop was based on the volume of transactions you completed on their app, that would lead to huge claims for many. This is the airdrop that I would love to see the most personally.
dYdX
This is another DEX in the crypto world, but the volume that they handle is quite impressive. Today alone they have conducted swaps for over 40 million USD. With such large volume, it feels like it may be worth your time to make a few swaps on their site; you never know if their governance token will carry a lot of value!
DeFisaver
This is like a one-stop DeFi checkpoint that also offers smart savings and serves as a DEX aggregator. With so much utility on this app, I would not be surprised to see a quality governance token being dropped to people who have used their services.
These are all theoretical and may never launch a governance token or have an airdrop. I do think that they look like platforms with a lot of potential, so we'll see what plays out. It may be worth diversifying the apps and Dapps that you are using because you never really know what will be due up next!

Student Debt, Job Markets And Reflections
The Current Debt Climate
As a college graduate to be in just two weeks time, I think it is only right that I take a look at what my future will hold... massive student debt.
The United States now has 1.7 trillion dollars of outstanding student debt, which according to CNBC is a 100% increase over the last 10 years. There have been numerous pauses to student debt payments throughout Covid, but as things die down payments will once again kick into gear and former students will have to fork over hard earned money to cover years of tuition. The average monthly student loan payment is $393 according to Forbes and that is an unwelcome expense for so many working entry level positions.
Post Graduate Job Market
Not everything is doom and gloom however. According to CNBC, employers around the country are hiring around 7.2% more college graduates than they did last year. Depending on what your reasoning was for attending college, this is a motivating and important figure as it can be quite stressful trying to find work in a suffering economy. It is important to be realistic however, as the time spent in college took away time that could have been spent gaining "job experience" that is highly coveted by employers (this is something I discussed in a previous post that is frustrating).
There is no right way to do things nowadays in my opinion. College has taught me I need to find what I like and push to make it my reality; life isn't easy and there really is no blueprint for success.
My College Reflection:
Reflecting on college I fully believe it was a scam. I have met brilliant people, had fantastic times and grown as a human being. However, none of that was actually included in the $75,000 a year bill to pay for my courses. In actuality, students should be getting paid for what they have to do. How ironic is it that I pay all this money to be given work, deadlines, responsiblities and be forced to stay in terrible dorm rooms.
If I could go back and change things I would, but looking forward I will make the best of my experience and hope that the network I have created throughout my time will be worth the years of debt to come. There were brilliant professors and faculty, but I never quite found my niche at the university and often felt disengaged with coursework.
I do believe that you can learn a lot in college, but it is more about helping people who don't have direction to find their calling. To people who have an idea about where they want to go, it does feel as if it is a four year distraction filled with busywork... Perhaps I am cynical, but I don't recommend the experience; I wish it was not something valued in our society.

Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash: Existence In Harmony?
All too often in the cryptocurrency world we see maximalists talking badly about other tokens and finding reasons to dislike it. We can see this play out in extreme fashion when looking at Bitcoin versus Bitcoin Cash.
What is Bitcoin Cash (BCH)?
Bitcoin Cash is a fork of Bitcoin that came into existence in August of 2017. At the time of writing this post, it is the #9 cryptocurrency by market cap and is trading around $1380 USD. It is a network that seeks to confirm transactions in just a few minutes time and be reliably easy to use and affordable.
Why do BTC and BCH supporters clash?
The main point of disagreement between supporters of the various cryptocurrencies lies in the size of the blocks that are produced through mining.
**It all came down to scalability.**
The SegWit upgrade that would eventually enable Bitcoin’s lighting network was what sparked the ideological debates that resulted in the Bitcoin Cash fork.
Let’s simplify this further. It all came down to what people believe is the real purpose of Bitcoin. Supporters of the SegWit upgrade were implicitly stating that they wanted to move away from the idea of using Bitcoin as a medium of exchange and move towards Bitcoin being a store of value. On the other side, proponents of what would eventually become Bitcoin Cash wanted to see block sizes be larger in order to keep transaction costs low and focus on being a medium of exchange.
Which Side Should You Take?
Well at the end of the day, you have to do your own research to determine what you believe the real purpose of Bitcoin is. That being said, the idea that only one of the tokens can be beneficial to the world is ill-founded in my opinion. By spending time deciding which side of the debate is the correct side, we are wasting precious time that could be spent telling the world just how valuable both of these innovations really are.
The Value of Bitcoin
We have to think about what Bitcoin will be used for in the future. The previously mentioned debate has clarified that Bitcoin is now meant as a store of value against inflation. As much as Bitcoin Cash holders may disagree with this use case, it is really working. The spending value of fiat currency is tanking with everything going on in our world. Bitcoin provides a shield from that inflation and is slowly becoming mainstream. It has the first mover advantage on the rest of the market and even if it is not the “cash of the future” it is bringing people to the ecosystem and establishing a name for the market. We may see a world where Bitcoin is seen as a dinosaur of the financial world; however, it is currently still just being explored by the global population and we are not their yet… It is still early.
The Value of Bitcoin Cash
Similarly, we need to think about the future use case of Bitcoin Cash. Even if Bitcoin is being used as the accepted store of value in the future, we will still need a way of transacting on a daily basis. We still need a currency of the future, and Bitcoin Cash is perfectly positioned to become that. The ideological shift that has separated Bitcoin Cash from Bitcoin may serve as the perfect storm in creating a currency that is easily transactable for minimal fees and is free from governmental control. Being fast and efficient has positioned Bitcoin Cash to make a real mark on the world through it’s transactive power.
Conclusion
Maybe Satoshi’s vision was actually for there to be numerous forks of Bitcoin coexisting in peace and tackling numerous use cases. Rather than thinking about which fork is superior or better for the world, we should be thinking about how to fill the numerous financial holes in our world. There does not need to be one token to rule all, we need to look at this as a positive sum game. Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash may have their disagreements, but are both positioned to play a pivotal role in the world economy of the future.
POSITIVE SUM GAME!!!
I Think I Am Doing Crypto Wrong
I'm writing this post to discuss how I am feeling regarding crypto.
Earlier in the year I had built up a huge savings. I was investing in a few coins including Bitcoin Cash and feeling really good about where I was. Though it is not a lot of money to some, I had built up a $10000 savings.
I have made a string of terrible decisions ever since including gambling, overspending, poor budgeting and poor investment strategy.
I've really liked the idea of coins like Bitcoin Cash because I can see the utility and the future behind the project. That being said, I have lost many chances to stack and HODL because I have been more or less just an idiot over the last few months.
I am seeking some inspiration or motivation on how to get better. I am essentially building up again from scratch as I have found myself doing for months. I am doing all that I can to be better and learn from mistakes but am just finding myself in frustrating situations. The worst part of this is that I am feeling sidelined on the bull run.
Please hit me with some advice/motivation on how to build from here. I am still confident in my ability to recover and make it, but I'm just feeling a bit bummed about it.
As always thank you all for your time/engagement!
-Rob
Why Do We Need Bitcoin Cash?
I have enjoyed nothing more in cryptocurrency and in life than watching the underdog win. That is exactly how I am feeling about Bitcoin Cash.
When seeing any kind of news coverage regarding cryptocurrency, we are always hearing about Bitcoin. As of late we are hearing about fads like NFT's as well. What we never really hear about is the true innovation that goes on in the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
Up until about 6 months ago, I had actually never heard of Bitcoin Cash. After doing some research on the topic, I became incredibly confused on why I had not heard of it until then. With lower fees, higher volumes of transactions per block and thus inevitably faster transaction processing, Bitcoin Cash is an example of a token that is flying well under where it should on the radar.
Now that I know a bit more about it, I feel confident that I can give reasons that we really do need Bitcoin Cash in the cryptocurrency world. Bitcoin has begun to bring in people, but tokens like Bitcoin Cash will end up being what changes lives and keeps people involved in the crypto world.
Reason #1: Faster Transactions
Bitcoin is able to process about 7 transactions per second whereas Bitcoin Cash is pumping out a whopping 116 transactions per second at peak functioning. The difference is immense here and as a medium of exchange it is important to be efficient and clean; this is something Bitcoin Cash does incredibly well.
Reason #2: Cheaper Transactions
As we have seen with Ethereum and even now Bitcoin, gas and transaction fees are skyrocketing. It is my belief that cryptocurrency should benefit the average person, but the average person can't afford to be paying $100+ dollars to move their money around. With Bitcoin Cash, the average transaction cost is often less than a penny, promoting a higher frequency of transactions and allowing smaller investors the opportunity to move their money just like anyone else. Bitcoin Cash brings the power back to the people and enables true financial freedom.
Reason #3: Investment Opportunity
With Bitcoin being so large now, there are some people who don't know if there will be explosive upside for smaller investors like there used to be. Seeing that Bitcoin Cash has the same supply tokenomics as Bitcoin, there is real growth opportunity still for explosive gains. With almost 100x potential to catch the market cap of Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash is the investment of the future. Pack your bags, we are heading for huge gains.
Reason #4: Application Innovation
With ecosystems such as Read.cash or Noise.cash, Bitcoin Cash is showing that users can generate rewards for content and engagement all while transacting on the Bitcoin Cash network. With so much innovation and likely much more to come, it is not rocket science to see the potential for growth monetarily and in a community sense.
Reason #5: Giving the Power to the People
Bitcoin Cash is an amazing invention because the scalability is something that has never been seen before. We are on the precipice of huge growth that can be shared by anyone. The barriers to entry are almost non-existent and with the growing community it offers, there is room for each and every person that wants to be a part. I am looking forward to continuing my personal journey with Bitcoin Cash and hope that you are able to do the same!
Thank you for engaging with my content!
Government Inefficiencies That Could Be Solved With Blockchain
I have spent arguably too much time recently theorizing with my friends about a world without government or a world that is ruled through direct democracy. These conversations come out of a feeling of frustration with not only the unfairness of current governmental systems, but also with general disappointment for how inefficient our current systems are.
Now if I had all the answers on how to make everything better in the world and create an efficient utopian society that has no corruption, I would probably be raking in Nobel prizes right now.
Rooted in a mindset of capitalism and what is essentially ruling-class politics, I am unsure of how to solve a lot of societal problems in an equitable way. That being said, there are things in government (namely US government) that are so blasphemously inefficient and outdated that I feel comfortable speaking about the fact we should be changing them.
Here are three inefficiencies that need to be solved immediately in government.
The Voting Process
The first inefficiency that comes to mind is just how stupid the voting process actually is in America. We have apps on our phone that can summon a car in a matter of seconds, websites where you can order thousands of dollars of goods to arrive by the next morning, and even self driving vehicles... Yet we count votes on slips of paper.
We are living in an era with more processing power and technological innovation than ever before in history and yet we are spending hours and hours once every four years counting votes by hand. That is ridiculous.
As a cryptocurrency user, I know that it is absolutely possible to create a voting blockchain where votes are immutable (possibly in the form of an NFT) and verifiable in terms of identification. There is nothing stopping the government from running elections that can be carried out instantaneously through a secured blockchain ecosystem and getting fully accurate results in just a few minutes.
Paper ballots allow for error and corruption (though I think that almost all conspiracy theories I've heard about this are BS, I still think it is possible to do). The government needs to utilize the technology we have in the world and make our voting process more efficient/fair.
The Centralization of Policy Power
I was called crazy for thinking that we should be running our world through direct democracy. While I do understand some of the negatives (i.e. majority groups forming, deciding which decisions are worth voting on, etc.), I also see the negatives of allowing a few hundred overpaid professional persuaders sitting around and getting nothing done for years on end in the House of Representatives and Senate. Perhaps we should be using a system where there is a more direct vote and not having the filibustering and stalling in our government waste time that could be better spent helping citizens who are struggling. We vote, we implement, we move on; at least we will get something done.
This realization has made me actually believe that government as a whole is an inefficient process, though as I stated earlier, I lack the cultural understanding and political knowledge to propose the world changing solution as of now.
Government Involvement in Finance
Lastly, and most relevant for this forum is that we should have government get less involved and eventually completely out of finance. The inefficiencies in government finance revolve around the fact that we continue to stack trillions of dollars in debt held together by fear and fragile trust. Seeing that the US dollar has lost upwards of 99% of its value over the last 100 years, it has become obvious that governmental-based financial decisions have been made not to maintain the value of the average mans wealth, but to keep the nation itself afloat and in a position of world power.
If we remove the government from finances, then the value of currency is no longer tethered to national interests, but the interests of the majority of the users of that currency. This can once again be a dangerous proposition, but I know for a fact that my interests don't involve spending over 732 billion dollars on the military when there are over 500,000 homeless people in our nation. Without the government involved in finance, the people that culminate in the system are given more influence and agency in where communal funds are spent. How those funds are to be stored and collected is once again not something that I have solved.
Tell me what you think, are these inefficiencies globally understood? Are they reasonable? Do you have more? Am I absolutely crazy and wrong? Talk to me.

Lawyers: The Future Activists of Cryptocurrency
I have noticed something really intriguing throughout my years at college. Reform movements begin with people who are upset about a problem, gain traction with the citizens of a society, and lobby for change. However, changes only become implemented after being passed by governments through legal institutions. No matter how much momentum there is for a change to be made, nothing happens until a law is drafted.
**What do we need?**
We need more people on the end-product side of cryptocurrency movements. We need lawyers lobbying for mass adoption. We need lawyers who have knowledge of cryptocurrency drafting clarifying laws about what crypto is and how it can be used in society. We need lawyers who understand what a cryptocurrency is and why we need it in society.
I am about to apply to law school in America. I am considering going to either Boston College, George Washington, Villanova or even possible a school in California.
**Disclaimer:**
Now don't get me wrong, I'm exhausted. I've been in school my entire life up until now and am losing interest in almost all of the topics I am covering. That being said, the way that society is structured right now, I need to pursue law school to have a role in the change we are about to experience (note that this is because I have a 4th grade JavaScript coding level).
**Reality:**
Now if you do some research on "cryptocurrency lawyers" there are very few results and those that have worked on crypto-cases are normally working on traditional financial cases. There is a very low level of expertise on cryptocurrency among the most skilled lawyers in America.
**Hopes:**
Over the course of my law school career, I hope to help create a pathway for students to come after me to begin specializing in cryptocurrency law practice, not general financial law. I know that I will have to take a lot of general law courses, but I hope to be able to help craft the laws surrounding cryptocurrency as I am working through my studies.
**Knowledge and Foresight:**
On platforms like this, we know that crypto is the future and that the rate that projects are coming out is incredible. We also know that there are common problems like exit-scams, phishing scams and so on. Regulation is not something that many of us like, but it is something that currently still governs our lives. Step one is taking control of what those regulations look like and helping to stimulate healthy growth for not only the developers, but the investors of our ecosystem.
What do you think? Do we need crypto lawyers? I hope to be one of the first!

The Future Of Cryptocurrency - 5 Wild Predictions
I keep finding myself discussing the direction that I believe cryptocurrency is heading with my friends and family. Obviously most of what I see happening one day is in the quite distant future but I thought it would be fun if I shared five of my wild predictions for the crypto world.
**All elections will be conducted using cryptocurrency as voting tokens.** The voting systems of our planet are incredibly mundane and outdated. In America, ballots are counted by hand and verified by teams of election officials over the course of numerous days. Along with the fact that it takes entirely too long, the lack of efficiency is also compounded by claims of inaccuracies through 'election fraud'. Imagine if we could just open up our phones, log onto an encrypted application and using facial ID and numerous verification methods and then proceed to place our vote via blockchain technology and a governance token. It would be seamless, instantaneous and non-alterable.
**Students will learn about crypto in schools.** I wrote a previous post about this, but I still think it is a radical prediction. In a nation where students don't even get much traditional financial literacy, it is still a little bit of a wild guess. That being said, I predict we eventually find ourselves in a world where students are learning the basics of blockchain and cryptocurrency-based utility. By educating the youth, we will be able to change the way that crypto is viewed in our nation and in our world.
**All social media platforms will run on a blockchain.** Being on Leo Finance and Publish0x right now it comes as no surprise that I see Web 3.0 as the future. Being paid for content creation, never having free speech muted, having complete ownership of your account and being able to support other creators monetarily at no cost of your own are powerful aspects of a blockchain-based media platform. It's the future and it's inevitable, people will be taking back ownership of their data and their networks.
**Workers will be paid in cryptocurrency choose what type of crypto they would like their checks in.** We are already starting to see this as athletes such as Russell Okung are asking to be paid in Bitcoin instead of USD. As more athletes do this there will be more money coming into the crypto ecosystem and those athletes will very likely make more value for themselves by taking agency over their paychecks. This will carry over into all professions.
**Traditional banks will cease to exist.** I believe that we will see a day where everything is handled on the phone. People will be able to take control of their own finances through DeFi applications and take the middleman out of banking. Once cash is a thing of the past and cryptocurrency is accepted widely as a payment method, there will be no need at all to pay to use a bank when everything is able to be handled by the individual.
