An Oreo Cake recipe that does not require baking and caters to being budget-friendly? Don’t worry, I got you!
Easy to make oreo cake with two ingredients only.
You don’t have to rush out and look for a nice cake that you can give your loved ones on their special day. Or if you just feel like having something sweet on a normal day, this dessert works well! Another great thing? It does not cost much and is very easy to make.
INGREDIENTS AND SUBSTITUTE
This recipe requires only two ingredients. As much as possible, both ingredients must be available before you can make your own Oreo cake. Thankfully, you can easily get them from any supermarket or some sari-sari stores. Here are the important ingredients for this recipe:
Oreo Cookies will serve as the base of the cake, and at the same time used for the toppings. Since Oreo is a specific cookie brand, you may also opt for cheaper alternatives like Cream-O to make your own cookies n' cream cake. They both taste great, but I chose Oreo to stick to the recipe’s namesake.
Evaporated Milk will provide the creaminess and softness to the recipe. It also acts like a glue-like substance that holds the dessert altogether. By adding it to the mix, it becomes as delicious as the nostalgic combination of Oreo and milk during our youth.
STEPS IN MAKING YOUR OWN HOMEMADE OREO CAKE
Who said making homemade pastries is tough work? We all should be aware by now how our trusty kitchen equipment can help us in different ways. Just like how you will only need a steamer to make your own pastries. Cool, right? This recipe makes it even better.
For the first step, separate the cream (or filling) from the Oreo cookies. Place them in another bowl so they can be used later.
Crush the cookies by using a blender or food processor. Before they are completely crushed, add in a cup of evaporated milk to achieve the right consistency for the batter.
Place a parchment paper on a round pan and apply some oil. Transfer the cake batter to the pan then slowly tap it until the batter is in equal level.
Steam the batter for 15-18 minutes using medium heat. Another way to check if it is cooked completely is by using a toothpick. Insert it in the batter and once the toothpick comes out clean, then it is done.
Use a pan to melt the Oreo filling in low heat. Pour the remaining evaporated milk while mixing the cream. After mixing everything, pour the syrup on top of the freshly steamed cake.
HOW TO STORE OREO CAKE
Usually, people bake a cake so they can consume them immediately. But if you need to keep it for a specific occasion, you can store it by securing it in plastic wrap and a plastic zip-lock bag. This will help keep it for 5 more days when stored at room temperature.
Another way of keeping your cake longer is by freezing it. Wrap it securely using a plastic wrap, then finalize by wrapping another layer of aluminum foil. Word of caution though: be sure to always let it cool down before storing it. That way, you can avoid condensation from happening in your beloved pastry.
Cakes don’t always have to be store-bought or baked using fancy ingredients. Sometimes, it’s the thought that counts. But that also doesn't mean that we have to sacrifice the quality of taste. Because with the help of this recipe, we can achieve both!
