In what ways do social media or the internet have a positive effect on us as students? Are we as students, able to use our social media accounts meaningfully?
Examples of social media are facebook, twitter, instagram, youtube, google, tumblr and many more. Social media has an interactive platform where an individual and communities can share, create, discuss and modify user-generated content. This leads to a lasting and pervasive change in communication between organizations, communities and individuals. Our world is already covered by social media, many students are becoming more active in using their social media accounts, they are also quickly influenced by what they see, read or watch on social media but not all information and details from social media is correct because often the information on social media is if not too much is missing and that is because of editing.
The internet helps a lot in education, research, employment, business, entertainment, communication and more.
Mainly good social media has for me is having extensive communication with my loved ones, no matter where they are in the world. Second, providing the right information that helps me do my research especially in my assignments, but it is still better to read the book. Third, it helps to boost my self-confidence. When we share videos of our dances, sharing our works of drawings on social media, it helps to share our talents with others. Fourth, it helps us to be close to our teachers and to have good communication with them towards our learning.
Limitations are needed to prevent social media from harming us as students. If we use the internet, we will prioritize those related to our studies, not the ones we will open on facebook or twitter before we do our homework or research.
Being lazy is the worst effect of using social media on us as students because instead of learning to use books as a reference we just use the internet for research. As we use books as a reference, our knowledge expands and we become better at reading. Unlike the internet with just one click, the answers and information will be released immediately so you can rely on google instead of reading books. But according to other experts, no textbook can match any social media because the textbook only contains one subject unlike social media, you can get a lot of information and help all your subjects be it Filipino, Mathematics, Science, English and any other major or minor subjects.
