Beef Salpicao is a delectable Filipino dish made from soft and perfectly tenderized beef tenderloin (or sirloin).

It is a mixture of flavors that end up in a magnificent and tasty meal. Although it sounds nothing Filipino, the recipe is 100% made with locally available ingredients. The combination of flavors present in it will surely make anyone ask for more.

In every celebration in the Philippines, like birthday parties, there is this one familiar dish always present. Dark brown-colored and filled with garlic bits, the food exudes an aromatic scent all over the venue. A lot of people do not know what it is, but they still eat it anyway. Because as much as it looks foreign to many Pinoys, many of them consider it as very familiar to their tastebuds.

ORIGIN OF SALPICAO

True enough, the name salpicao is completely foreign. The Spaniards deeply influenced it just like many other Pinoy dishes. But did you know that the typical Hispanic salpicao differs a lot from its Pinoy counterpart?

Originally, the name of the food refers to the Portuguese sausage with the same exact name. However, many people claim that the early Filipinos derived the name of the meal from the Spanish word salpicado. Filipinos still claim the recipe as their own despite the influence of Spanish cuisine.

The beef and garlic in the recipe provide the most well-sought after health benefits. Cow meat contains high amounts of animal protein and iron. Garlic, on the other hand, boasts a lot of benefits that particularly take part in the improvement of immune health. Additionally, garlic can help manage a person’s blood pressure.

In conclusion, beef salpicao is an enjoyable dish both in taste and health benefits. The intense garlicky flavor blends perfectly well with the sauces (oyster, soy, and Worcestershire) used for the recipe. Add all those flavors into soft and tender beef and you get yourself a very delicious meal!
