When all of a sudden, Kellys high heeled shoe hit a dent in the old cracked tile floor and sent her staggering forward. If not for Stacie being infront her, Kelly knew she would have fallen. "Dang, don't people know how to fix the hazardous parts of a building before they open it up for business," Kelly admonished. "I would've easily gotten hurt had I hit this hard floor."
Stacie just looked at her friend. "I told you not to do this. Halloween is nothing to play around with. Everything about it is creepy."
Kelly rolled her eyes.
Together, they made their way down the creepy hallway. Kelly looked around and at the walls. She noticed portraits hanging nonchalantly. Stacie, freaked as she was, focused dead ahead, afraid and feared some ghost would, at any moment, jump out and get her.
In the background, you could hear creepy music begin to play. "I wonder where that music is playing," Kelly smiled.
"Where it should stay," Stacie replied. "Out of sight and out of mind."
The girls finally made it to the end of the hallway. You were asked by a sign hanging on the wall to go either left or right. "Which way?" Kelly asked. Stacie shrugged with a frown.
"Let's go left," she beamed.
"How about which ever way is the quickest?" Stacie beamed back, smiling temporarily.
Kelly giggled quietly.
They turned left. The light bulbs on the ceiling flickered like the traditional haunted house. Kelly thought they could have been more creative. At the end of the hallway, a door waited on them. Stacie reached for the handle when Kelly suddenly stopped her. "Wait," she said, catching Stacie's wrist. As a joke, Kelly decides to knock, sort of like a joke.
"What are you doing?" Stacie asked.
Kelly took one look at the look on her friends face and laughed out loud. "Being stupid, obviously," she said.
Both girls hearts jumped through their chest however, when, on the other side of the door, came a knock back. Both girls literally staggered backwards as if hit.
Kelly pulled Stacie behind her as if to protect her. "Hold on Stace," she chided.
She stepped forward and opened the door slowly. She peeked through the opening on the other side.
"Oh my God," Kelly admonished.
On the other side of the door was nothing but a regular closet. Hangars lined a rod with old stained clothes attached.
"Let's go," Kelly rushed. "We obviously chose the wrong direction to walk in."
She led Stacie away from the closet and the two girls went back the way they came and went to the end of the hallway.
On the other side of the hall, a clown stood, holding a bouquet of flowers, looking straight at Kelly. Kelly and Stacie couldn't believe their eyes. Kelly was on the verge of laughter. Stacie was horrified to her core.
The clown slowly puts down the bouquet of flowers he held, then stands straight up. He points at Kelly. "Bitch, by the time you get to the fourth floor, you'll be changed forever."
As quickly as a person could muster, the clown went for the door behind him and disappeared from sight.
"Bitch?" Kelly questioned, not believing her ears. "They're cussing in haunted houses now?"
Stacie had had it. "Kelly, I have a really bad feeling! Can we please get out of here? I swear, I'm this close to never speaking to you again." She held up two fingers which separated only an centimeter of space.
"Stacie, quit being a baby." she warned. "I'll leave you in here alone."
Stacie couldn't believe her ears. Also, she couldn't believe Kellys tenacity. Suddenly, without knowing it, Stacie was laughing.
"Since when did you become the hero, and I become the fearful dweeb?" She asked her friend.
She compared Kelly in contrast. "Because if I remember correctly, Kelly Martin, just a month before, you were a frightened little bird afraid to come out of her cage.... What changed all of a sudden?" She asked.
Kelly smiled embarrassingly.
