PS: This is just a fictional story of mine just for fun and entertainment and I wouldn't want anyone bearing names mentioned here to feel bad. Read and learn from it.
James and Susan had just returned from their honeymoon in Europe and the couple are starting a new life in their new home back to Nigeria. Their wedding was the talk of the town as many people who came to graced the event were praising the couple for the elaborate wedding they did and how it honoured them. They got to the house furnished with expensive materials, equipments, and gadgets .
Thanks to James' parents who willed their properties for him before they died of chronic illness which they tried their best treating but it was out of control and this claimed both lives. James and Susan had enough to sustain them even if they planned not working for a whole year, at least they need to enjoy their marriage life for a year before they start work fully.
"Darling, how do you plan monitoring Dad's company?" asked Susan. James answered and said "I already told my friend to help me manage it before I resume". They both chatted, ate and went to bed.
The next day.......
Susan was already arranging their luggage and putting them where they should be, while James was still in bed. Immediately she finished, she went to the kitchen but nothing was there, so she had to go to the market to get some foodstuffs. She already bought everything and she branched to the mall not far from the market to get other things too when she bumped into her old time school mate. She quickly recognized her and called her name "Mercy". Mercy looked back and also recognized her. They both hugged each other, laughed and then Susan dropped her number. Don't worry, I will give you a call, said Mercy. Wow, she is now a big woman, she said silently and went inside the mall and came out after some minutes and then drove home.
When she got home, she quickly offload everything and started doing the cooking. James came down from the room to meet Susan. Babe, I looked for you but I didn't see you. Where did you go to early this morning? James asked. She then told him and also mentioned her friend who she saw at the mall. James saw the excitement on her face and he quickly gave her a kiss. He left the kitchen and shouted "Honey, hurry up with the food, I am starving". Okay, I will.
Susan had finished preparing Fried Spaghetti with Fried plantain and she served the meal on the dining table. Both of them started eating when Susan's phone rang. "Hello, this is Mercy". Oh! Hi Mercy, is this your number? I will save it now. Thanks for the call. How is your husband? Mercy asked, He is fine and here with me, he extends his greetings too. Then she hanged up and continued with her meal.
James went to the sitting room watching his favorite channel and Susan came to join him with two glasses filled with Orange juice and sat beside him. They both were watching the channel and had a nice time together.
Later in the evening, both of them were seen taking a stroll outside the estate when they saw two old couple together with their arms around each other.
Susan watched both couple as they walk down the lane when suddenly, James whispered into her ears "Together forever baby". She looked straight into his eyes and gave a smile with a hug. They had to locate the couple's house and discovered they were living in the same estate.
Darling, I am thinking if we can pay the old couple a visit, said Susan as they walked back into their home. Why did you suggest that? We just came into this home and you are planning to visit a stranger. No, not what you think, I just feel we need to see them. My mind hasn't settled since I saw them. Please, J (that is the short name he calls her husband) Okay, when should we go then? remember it's already late. Susan was happy and immediately said tomorrow. They ate dinner and went upstairs to their bedroom.
At the old couple's house.......
Early in the morning, they had prepared breakfast and off to visit their new found friends. They got to the gate, and the security man opened for them when they explained themselves. As they were coming in, they met the couple outside their garden taking some juice with a little girl with them. Good morning ma, Good morning Sir, they both greeted them and the couple immediately replied with smiles written all over their faces.
How may we help you? James quickly started and told them how they had seen them together the previous day and how they planned coming to visit them. The old couple named Cindy and Andrew were happy hearing this. Wow! that means you just relocated to this estate? They replied "Yes"
Cindy then asked "Are you just married?" they both looked at each other and said Yes we are. That's good said Andrew. I remembered when we first started and we feel we shouldn't grow anymore because we enjoyed each other's company and till now, I still love her. They all bursted into laughter. Okay, why don't we go inside? Patience (the little girl) had already gone inside and so they went inside too. Who is the little girl? asked Susan. She is my grandchild and she has come to spend the holiday with us said Andrew.
The house was looking like a paradise to Susan as she just opened her mouth in amazement viewing everywhere in the house. They were served with snacks and juice since they were offered food but they said they had eaten before leaving home.
So tell us, what are you two up to as the newest couple? Cindy asked them. They looked at each other and then James started, "We just got married last two months, had our honeymoon in Europe and we came back two days ago since my Father has a company here in Nigeria. My parents are dead now and so we are taking over the company" both Andrew and Cindy sympathized with them and he continued "We have decided to manage the company and we keep living with each other doing things together". (James and Susan holding hands together)
Then Cindy started with a question "Do you know the secret to a long lasting relationship?" both of them stared at each other and none could answer her. After a while, Susan answered and said "It is love". Cindy smiled and continued, Okay, you are right but love isn't enough. She asked another question, "Do you know why we are still together now?" They both smiled again but this time, no one talked.
Cindy continued, "It is God". We committed our relationship to Him, even though there were obstacles on the way, we fought and won through God's intervention. If it wasn't God, we would have seperated even though we love each other. It was God who stood by us and made everything work out good for us.
To make your relationship last long, you must lay the foundation of Christ which is the Solid Rock. Without Him in your home, things will go bad to the extent of divorcing yourself.
Then the next thing is Patience. No matter what happen in your home, be patience to handle it. Do not let lack of patience make you decide on something that could forever hurt you. Give it time and think about it before taking any step.
And let me conclude with this, "After you, is God, never involve a third-party into your home. Talk to God over your issue". It is better to wait on God and enjoy than discussing with your friends who will try to help but are only pretending because they are looking for ways to destroy your home.
After Cindy had finished, Andrew contributed and summarized everything his wife had said and both Susan and James thanked the couple and went their ways. "Wonderful tips" said Susan.
