We all would be amazed at how beautiful God has created us with natural beauty. Among such is Waterfalls. It wouldn't shock you that among every nature God created such as evergreen valleys, hefty mountains, vibrant flora, down to the unending deep blue sea, there is this hidden gift presented to us by God and it is Waterfalls.
With the constant sound of water falling on hard rocks and the sound of the water like music to people, it makes people feel comfortable.
I will be discussing briefly about the different kinds of waterfalls and you would be mesmerized by their beauty. According to research, waterfalls do not have same look, there is difference in them.
1. PLUNGE WATERFALLS
This is a kind of Waterfall that falls vertically without making any contacts with the underlying cliff face. This waterfalls are popularly known and has the ability to produce lots of water spray. Examples are;
* Bridal Veil Falls (a part of the Niagara falls)
* Rainbow falls located in Hito
* Mangawhero falls
* Nobe Young Falls
* Snoqualonie Falls
According to research, plunge waterfalls have a small area behind the waterfall where people go to visit.
2. HORSETAIL WATERFALLS
The reason it was given this name is because the waterfall resembles the shape of a horse's tail. These waterfalls are the ones that fan out at their drop on a steep slope but have contacts with the underlying cliff face. Examples are;
* Nerada Falls
* Manawaio Puna Falls
* Sanddalsfossen Falls
3. FAN FALLS
This waterfall is similar to horsetail Waterfalls. Fan falls water drops in a steep slope direction while the water keeps on touching the underlying cliff. This waterfall has a shape of a fan and the fan is used by Asian women when they want to fan themselves when it is hot. Examples are;
* Friaren Falls
* Fantail Falls
* Rustic Falls
* Mokau Falls
* Lower or Enfield Falls
4. PUNCHBOWL WATERFALLS
This kind of waterfall is seen as the most peaceful fall as it has a large and wide catch pool at the base of the waterfall. This waterfall is suited for swimming as many people go there to enjoy themselves. The water distance from the waterfall is short and it doesn't make any sound of water falling. It is also important to look through or survey the water pool before swimming in it as it is said to have make people drowned and died. Examples are;
* Wailua Falls
* Tawhai Falls
* Cedar Creek Falls
5. BLOCK WATERFALLS
This is also called rectangle waterfalls. They are in rectangular shape as they fall and that was why it is called a rectangular Waterfall. The wideness of the waterfall depends on the river the fall is falling into. Examples are;
* Shifen Waterfalls
* Care Falls
* Raukawa Falls
* Victoria Falls
* Horseshoe Falls
6. TIERED WATERFALLS
As you can see in the image, it is called a tiered waterfall because it has more than one vertical leap or tier. This tiers are close together most of the time. Note: This waterfall has small pools inside and they can be dangerous, and so it is not safe to swim in. Examples are;
* Sentinel Falls
* Mitchell Falls
* Sutherland Falls
* Gullfloss Falls
7. SEGMENTED WATERFALLS
This waterfall is said to be dangerous because when it has a fast flow, it hits the base very hard, and one must be careful standing or sitting on it. This is a waterfall that has the water coming from the waterfall split up into two or more segments or threads. Examples are;
* Conwy Falls
* Seven Sisters
* Dinner Falls
8. CASCADES WATERFALLS
The water falling from this waterfall are gentle and slow fall as compared to others. Cascade and Tiered waterfalls as similar but the only difference is that the tiers in the cascade are very small and very subtle. Examples are;
* Dip Falls
* Minaret Falls
* Tokopah Falls
* Chilnualna Falls
9. CHUTE WATERFALLS
This kind of Waterfall allows water to be forcefully passed through a narrow channel making the water flow to become violent and it causes the pressure on the waterfall to be harsh at its base. Examples are;
* Barnafoss Falls
* Murchison Falls
10. RIBBON WATERFALLS
This type of Waterfall is very slim and has a narrow stream. The drop in this waterfall is very long which is why it is called a ribbon fall. Examples are;
* Fairy Falls
* Manoa Falls
* Ribbon Falls
* Pelverata Falls.
