The Stinky Fruit

Durian fruit is a tropical fruit tree. It has a foul smell but we you taste it you can't resist to eat. It has a creamy like taste, sweet and very delicious. Some don't like to eat this because of its foul smell. Don't try to overnight it in the refrigerator because after a day it will covers the whole fridge with a very stinky odors that others made them to vomit.

And it will spread all over the house and sometimes it can be smell through your neighborhood. You can't conceal this fruit and even when you are done eating this fruit, when you burp it will stick through your breathe.

Here in Davao, this is a very popular fruit in our place and this is called as the King of All fruit. During Kadayawan Festival or Araw ng Dabaw, a popular celebration where when Davao City has been established, many tourists or foreigners come to visit Davao just to eat this fruit.

Many tourists come to visit our place because of so many tropical fruits and different fruits that our place had. Too many popular fruit to mention like rambutan, lanzones, mangosteen, pomelo, avocado and many too mention.

Our place is being visited by different foreigners or local tourists because of its very cheaper and affordable prices that you can buy here. Especially when in its season, you can buy kilograms of much cheaper fruits.

We are not just visited with our cheapest price of fruits but we are also visited for a very rich culture and different tribes. We have also different local languages that our place have and because of its different tribes. We are all Dabawenyos, the uniqueness of our place made us known to the world.

During Kadayawan Festival, durian shells or fruits is being used to a Floral Float Parade or Pamulak sa Kadalanan. It is a parade where floral giants parade of competing of contingents and non-contigents from different companies or schools. They used local and native materials that can be found at the localitiy and one of the materials used is the durian shell or durian fruit.

They innovate durian shell together with the different colors of beautiful flowers like waling-waling that can be found here in our place to make a big floral float. During this day, you can see different local resources. You can also see the big eagle-like representation from the parade.

Back to Durian Fruit, the secret of eating this is, eat durian as it opens on its shell, it is very delicious to eat this when it's fresh. Other people don't really it durian because of its stinky smell. But for me, I like it very much.

Sometimes this fruit is being banned in passenger vehicles like closed vans, buses, or on airplanes. Whenever you want to bring it anywhere when it's whole fruit its not acceptable to this kind of passenger vehicles.

Many of other passenger will likely to disallowed it because some will likely to be fainted, dizzy or vomit especially when the destination of travel was too far. You know, because of its stinky smell.

So if you want to bring some to your place, you have to wrap it closely to a styro-foam container. And make sure odors can't escape. Lol, some buy frozen of it and wrapped it tightly.

Durian has a very healthy benefits, yet not good for a person of having hypertensions and had a high blood pressure. According to myths and beliefs if you have high cholesterol you shod not eat this fruit, because it will likely to strike the pressure of you blood.

Many believe it will strike someone with high blood pressure. If you eat this do not also I intake beverages like soft drinks and beers, this will also strike your blood pressures.
