Positive and Negative Effects of Social Media and Internet

In our time, many modern technologies have been poured in and one of them is the internet and social media which helps us to use it in education, research and communication which has a negative and positive impact on our citizens who use it.

The Internet is the interconnected computer network that people around the world can use. It is made up of millions of private, public, school and government networks with local to wide coverage and interconnectedness. It carries a variety of information and services, such as online chat and related World Wide Web pages while Social Media refers to the system of interaction with people by which they create, share and exchange information and ideas in a virtual community and networks. It is also considered to be a group of Internet-based applications that form the ideological and technological foundation that enables the creation and exchange of user-generated content.

The Internet and Social Media have both positive and negative effects on our citizens who use it just like in education, research and communication. In the field of education, it brings great benefits to students because it makes it easier for them to find things they need to know such as things they do not know yet, assignments, research papers, projects and so on.

If there is a good benefit there is also a bad effect on the youth and one of them is the smartness of the students because it will make their work in school easier because there is already the internet, opening websites that are not suitable for their age such as pornography, scandal and addiction to online games like Mobile Legends and others.

In the field of research, the internet has helped just as much as before, it is not a waste of time to find the things you need because just pressing the need on a computer will reveal what you need. Second, there is no need to waste time going to the library and borrowing a bunch of books. Finally, instead of researching the lesson in class, they prioritize meaningless things such as posting meaningless pictures and gossip that can disrupt one's research process.

In the field of communication, the internet also helps in positive ways such as communicating with our loved ones who work abroad, gathering information about events happening inside and outside the country, and having of updates about the lives of our loved ones just as much as the fun things that happened to them that they want to share with others. If there is a positive and there is also a negative just like the first one, communicating to fool people is just like scams. Second, to spread false information against the government and other organizations. Finally, spreading chismis is just as much about references to artists and other people.

The internet and social media help us to speed up the process of our learning, researching and communicating with others but they are used in evil ways. We need to be careful in using it because many people are ruining their lives and dying because of the social media they claim that do not help them. Let us use the Internet and Social Media in our own development so that our country can also prosper.
