How to become a successful Farmer without experience?

0 19

Good day everyone! It is a never-ending science, with many angles that open up avenues leading in all directions. The successful farmer still needs to have a love of the land, and practical experience, and plenty of courage and determination; but in addition he now needs a thorough grounding in the science of his calling. In the future this will be even more true.”

Who wants to get started farming? And to become a successful farmer soon even without experience? So today in this guide, I’m going to walk you through how to start a farm, as well as give you the resources to help you get started with a farming business today.

Where to start if you’ve never farmed before:

  • If you didn’t grow up on a farm and haven’t worked on one, you may be wondering how on earth you’re going to make your dream a reality. This is a very real concern. The reality may prompt you to consider another line of work because farming is hard, and farming as a business is doubly so!

Get some real-world experience

  • According to Gregory Heilers, it’s essential to get that hands-on training. “While some claim you can learn how to be a farmer through YouTube videos or books (and those can be excellent tools), it’s very important to get some hands-on training. If you haven’t grown up around farms, you’ll want to buddy up to someone who knows what they are doing.”

Decide whether you’re starting a business or a hobby farm.

  • If DIYing your farm learning experience is something you’re more interested in, hobby farming could be a better fit for you, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Hobby farming gives you the opportunity to experiment on a micro scale first.

  • For example, before you plant an acre worth of vegetables, plant a much smaller patch, and take the time to address and learn from problems as they arise. After a while, you’ll have developed the skills you need in order to expand.

Think outside the Box.

  • So think outside the box! Start with questions such as “what’s an agricultural good that’s in demand and how could grow it with limited land, labor and capital?” Or “what’s an food or agricultural good that’s not being produced in my area?” Or “what unique value can I offer a farmer to get him to hire and teach me about farming?”

  • Your possibilities in farming and/or ranching are limited only by your own imagination! Find out where you can make your impact!

Before I end this, have a good sense of humor. Laughter makes the day go by faster, especially when your muscles are aching, your fingers feel like they are going to fall off, and the weather has ruined your plans once again. A positive attitude is an asset to any farm! Thank you for reading and dont forget to click subscribe..Thank you and God bless everyone..Keep safe always!
