I am a survivor
I am a survivor of sexual abuse,
A victim once, but now I choose
To rise above the pain and fear,
And let my voice be loud and clear.
I will not be defined by what was done,
Nor let the darkness blot out the sun.
I will not hide behind a veil of shame,
Or let the memories drive me insane.
I am a survivor, strong and brave,
And though at times I feel enslaved
By the scars that linger deep inside,
I will not let them steal my pride.
I have the power to heal and grow,
To break the chains and let them go.
To find my voice and speak my truth,
And reclaim the parts of me that youth
I am a survivor, and I will thrive,
Despite the pain that may arrive.
For in my heart, there burns a flame,
That will not be extinguished or tamed.
I am a survivor, and I will soar,
High above the pain that came before.
Stronger than I've ever been.
I will never be a victim again.
So if you too have been through the fire,
And know the pain of being a survivor,
Remember that you are not alone,
And that your light will always shine and be shown.
