Growing up, I was already surrounded by people who love and are good at cooking. My Lola is very good at cooking, my aunts and also my father. So, I may be inherent my ability to cook from them. I love exploring things in the kitchen and I love cooking food because I love eating. They said if you love to eat you need to know how to cook.
Before I ended my contract as a private school teacher, every break time I always ate siomai as my snack. Every I eat siomai I always have the thought of how this siomai is made, so I decided to research how it is made and what are the ingredients. Before I travel back home, I bought all the ingredients said in the video, so when I arrived home I told my husband that I want to make siomai as our snack and he helped me prepare the ingredients. After we mixed all the ingredients and cooked it in the steamer, we wait for 40 minutes so that we can sure that the meat is cooked. While waiting for the siomai, I make the chili garlic sauce. After 40 minutes of waiting, we can now judge the taste of the siomai we make. We ate and I ask my family and cousins if what are their comments about the siomai and they have the same comment "Masarap pero parang may kulang". From that comment, I decided to make my version recipe of the siomai. I have a secret recipe and I have to say sorry because I will make it to share with you guys but the recipe I'll share with you is my original recipe.
Ingredients:
1 kilo of ground pork\beef\chicken
1 pc onion (minced)
Onion chives (minced)
2 eggs
1 tsp of black pepper powder and 1 tsp of salt
2 pcs of carrots (minced)
1 pack of 40g. ginisa mix
1 pack of 90g. oyster sauce
3-4 packs of molo wrapper. I recommend using that kind of molo wrapper.
A small amount of oil to garnish the streamer so that the wrapper will not stick to the steamer pallet.
Procedures:
Mixed all the given ingredients.
If the ingredients are already mixed. Get a molo wrapper. If the molo wrapper has a lot of flour, scrap the flour with a spoon( slowly).
Ready to make the siomai. Just follow the picture provided.
After you make or form the siomai. You can now ready the steamer. You can use an electric steamer or the stainless steamer.
Don't forget to garnish the steamer floor with a small amount of oil to avoid the molo wrapped sticking. And set the time of 40 mins.
While waiting for the siomai. You can now make the chili garlic sauce.
Ingredients:
1\2 kilo of chili (minced) or as much as you want
9 cloves of garlic (minced)
1 tablespoon of brown sugar
2 packs of banana ketchup
1 tsp of salt and ground pepper powder
1 pack of Innis mix
1 pack of oyster sauce
2 cups of water and 2 cups of oil
Procedures:
Put the 2 cups of oil into the pan and wait until it will get hot and;
Saute the garlic until golden brown
Put the fresh minced chili
Add the 2 cups of water
Put the 2 packs of ketchup
Add the oyster sauce, 1 tsp of salt, and 1 tsp of ground pepper powder.
Add the sugar and mix it all.
Wait until it boils and taste it.
If you are satisfied with the taste, you can now set it aside.
If the siomai is already cooked, you can now taste and enjoy it with your family and friends. Don't forget to put some soy sauce and calamansi.
