Love is the most fundamental communication that connects and binds us.

Love moves in mysterious ways, we can't even imagine how we started falling in love with him/her, we can't even explain the true meaning of love because love and being in love is so magical.

Love has no boundaries, you can love who you want to be with and you can love anyone else.

The precious feeling that all of us want to feel is the feeling of being in love and being loved.

Love doesn't erase what past you both have but it will help you both to make your future different.

But what are the Types of Love that we should know?

So, let's take a look at the different types of love so you can better understand your relationships.

  1. Unconditional Love or Agape.

Agape means unconditional love, this is the most form of love. This is known as the love of God because the love of God is selfless, unconditional, and sacrificial.

No matter what kind of person we are, God will always save us and love us. We must thank God always and forever.

  1. Eros or Romanic Love.

This love is usually associated with romantic, passionate, and physical love. It is an expression of sexual passion and desire. This love is prone to be out of control because of the overpowering desire.

This love is like a fire and water, the fire burns all out in the relationship between but later on, it was easily burned out or out of feeling.

  1. Philia or Affectionate Love.

This love is Friendly love, love without any sexual acts.

This is brotherly and sisterly love. It shows care, respect, support, understanding, and kindness towards each other.

  1. Philautia or Self-Love.

Self-love is important, especially in this modern-day society. Self-love is not unhealthy or a sin, it is necessary for us to love ourselves first before we accept love from others. We cannot give to others what we don’t have. And if we don’t love ourselves, how can we truly love others?

  1. Storge or Familiar Love.

Love that flows between parents and children, grandparents to grandchildren, and children to childhood friends. Your memories encourage long-lasting bonds with another individual. As you create more memories, the value of your relationship increases.

  1. Pragma or Enduring Love.

It’s an everlasting love between a couple that chooses to put equal effort into their relationship. It is a mature love that puts 100% of commitment and dedication into the relationship you are in. Instead of “falling in love,” you are “standing in love” with the partner you want by your side indefinitely.

  1. Ludus or Playful Love.

Ludus love is the opposite of Pragma. Ludus love expresses a flirtatious in who you admire. Your emotions allow you to feel giddy, excited, interested, and involved with another person.

  1. Mania or Obsessive Love.

Mania is an obsessive love towards a partner. It leads to unwanted jealousy or possessiveness — known as codependency. Most cases of obsessive love are found in couples with an imbalance of love towards each other. An imbalance of Eros and Ludus is the main cause of Mania. With healthy levels of playful and romantic love, the harm of obsessive love can be avoided.

Survival instinct drives a person to desperately need their partner to find a sense of self-value.

So what type of love you are in?

If there are types of love, there are also love languages that are also important to keep and improve your relationship with each other.

The 5 Love Languages

  1. Words of Affection

Words of love are important to keep and maintain your love for each other on fire. It is also one of the ways how to show your appreciation and love towards your partner. Good morning, Good night, I miss you, I love you, your handsome/beautiful these are some of the words of love that your partner wants to hear from you every day.

  1. Acts of Service

In a relationship couple or married couple should help each other without any command. Support and help each other make the relationship more mature and strong.

  1. Giving and Receiving Gifts.

Another couple their love language is by giving gifts but giving gifts is not how we measure love. Some people value giving and receiving gifts, and some do not.

No matter how expensive or simple the gift is the most important is the love behind that gift.

  1. Quality Time.

Quality time is like recharging and making new moments together. Giving time to each other is important to all the couples out there because giving time is one of the ways to make feel each other love.

No matter what you are, what kind of life status you have, what are your flaws, and what kind of person are you, you deserve to be loved.

"If you accept such love with purity and humility, you will understand that Love is neither giving nor receiving -it is participating." - Paulo Coelho, Maktub
