From the previews years and up to present, persons with disabilities or what we commonly hear as the PWD's were fighting for their rights, for equality. It is a lingering problem which seems to be endless. Lots of bills were proposed and now passed as laws and their benefits are now enjoyed by them. But seems to be not enough. They still find hardships in many ways . In taking public transport, searching for jobs, and even being a victim of abuse or violence.

They always have the fear of going out mingling with others because of their notion that they are different, not normal, or they do not fit on the world outside. I think, they still beg fo the society's acceptance.

It is more frustating for them when people feel pity to them. It has to change and be transformed into respect. We must see the difference between the two. If you pity someone, you presume that you are in a better position. While respect on the other hand, acknowledges the dignity of their personhood and looking forward for the possibility of wor-king or engaging with them.

We should start supporting efforts in preventing disability. We must take away the belief that disability is permanent. Some of it can be prevented; others can be mitigated through therapy, assistive devices, and rehabilitation. One more thing is that, we should not see it as a disease needed to be cured, but rather, a difference needed to be understood.

Disability is just a state of mind. Let us build a society that focuses on the things we are capable of doing than being limited and hindered by the things we cannot.
