Outsourcing Work System

When you visit a company, you must have seen several employees wearing different uniforms. Most of these employees occupy positions such as customer service to office boys. If you look deeper, they are actually not a core part of the company you are attending. In industrial terms, they are included in the outsourcing work system.

In the world of work, outsourcing seems to be one of the things that is most avoided. Because many people have the view that working for an outsourcing company has more to lose. Especially if the loss is related to the income received. However, before giving a negative view on the outsourcing company, let's get to know everything related to the work system. Who knows, after you get to know the outsourcing work system more closely, your knowledge about the world of work will be more open. And it's not easy to label something just because people say it.

Let's first know what the word outsourcing means

Outsourcing is the use of services outside of the workforce to carry out certain functions. The existence of an outsourced work system used to be less desirable. However, due to the lack of available job opportunities, some people inevitably choose to work with this system. This outsourcing work system only applies to Worker Service Provider Companies. The company is an outsourcing company, which will later have the task of channeling workers to carry out non-core functions of the company that requires their services.

Regarding the recruitment method, this outsourcing work system is not much different from the recruitment of full-time employees in the company

This outsourcing recruitment system is not much different from recruitment in general. The flow is almost the same, namely collecting personal data, written tests, psychological tests, and interviews. What makes the difference between an outsourcing recruitment system and regular recruitment is the party that carries it out. The soul of full-time employee recruitment is carried out by the company itself. This outsourcing system recruits prospective workers under the auspices of the Workers' Service Provider Company (PPJP). In special cases, this outsourcing can also be done by the core company. But usually done at a certain time.

Positions offered are also limited. Most are positions that are not directly related to the business of a company

Maybe this is the reason why the outsourcing work system is often underestimated. The positions offered by PPJP are mostly limited to a few sections. And the positions offered are often not directly related to the business of a company such as customer service, cleaning service, office boy, security, and others.

This limited position is not without reason. Must meet the following requirements:

1. Done separately from the main activity

2. Done by direct or indirect order from the employer

3. It is a supporting activity for the company as a whole

4. Does not hinder the production process directly

The payment system is not directly related to the core company, but through outsourcing companies

Now, let's talk about income. Regarding the provision of wages and welfare of the outsourcing work system, this has also been regulated in the Manpower Act. To be precise, the Manpower Law no. 13 of 2003 article 66 paragraph 2 point c. In the Act it is written that "protection of wages and welfare, working conditions, and disputes that arise are the responsibility of the service provider company for workers/laborers". So for the problem of giving this salary, the company where you work is not responsible for giving it. But the one who is responsible for providing wages and other benefits is PPJP.

In addition, the wages given to workers are often not full. However, it has been reduced by the cost of services provided by the service provider company. Maybe this is what many people think when offered to work with an outsourcing system. This certainly does not conflict with the law that regulates it. Because in this regulation, apart from the service provider company, wages, welfare and working conditions are also shared on behalf of the workers.

This outsourcing work system also does not promise a lot of career paths for each employee

If the full-time work system provides career paths for employees, it is different with this outsourcing system. The length of time worked depends on the level of time stated in the contract. So if your services are no longer needed, then your contract cannot be extended. However, if your performance is good, the opportunity to have your contract extended or even be drawn into a permanent job will be wide open.

From the explanation above, hopefully you can draw the advantages and disadvantages. By knowing the advantages and disadvantages of each of these work systems, your knowledge of the world of work will be wider open. Your provision to ask for a job is also more stable. So that you don't just apply for a job, even though you don't know what outsourcing work system is. First understand carefully the work system offered. Don't misinterpret it and it will actually harm both parties.
