Hello from the Sperax team! 

Here’s a recap of our May progress, and a preview of what’s ahead.

May was an eventful month for Sperax as well as for the rest of the world. The highly anticipated Bitcoin halving did not create as much excitement as previous Bitcoin halving events. Ethereum 2.0 forked, which resulted in new security concerns among blockchain experts.

Sperax, however, made plenty of exciting progress on all fronts. 

Technology Development Updates  

1. Initiated the development of SperaxChain, deployed the mid-term development plan for the basic chain, including coordinating with developers.

2. Entered the research and development phase of enabling the consensus system to access libp2p; created the access plan and completed the initial feasibility verification under this new communication framework.

3. Completed the public beta of the consensus system (algorithm).

1. Our latest paper, “Sperax: An Approach To Defeat Long Range Attacks In Blockchains” was accepted by the top-ranking Computer Communications Conference, IEEE INFOCOM. The Sperax team was invited to give a keynote speech at 2020 IEEE INFOCOM (EdgeBlock).

Marketing Updates

1. On May 21, Sperax team attended the “World Shutdown, Blockchain Consensus Summit.” We detailed the development of Sperax as a full-stack financial public chain platform and announced collaboration with many leading Chinese financial service platforms. The speech was well received by the audience, including a number of financial institutions. China’s major blockchain media Mars Finance reported on the event.

2. On May 28, Sperax team was invited to the Blocklike Instant Link Cloud Summit and delivered a keynote speech entitled “Sperax: Trusted Infrastructure For Decentralised Economy,” which introduced the team’s development and achievements in detail.

3. Posted our first short animation in Chinese to share our two cents on bitcoin halving. The video is also available on Youtube. Hope you enjoy it and let us know what you think!

Community Updates

• On May 28, Sperax held our first English live streaming event. Key topic was “Comparing Sperax BDLS with 4 Well-Known BFT Consensus Protocols.” Sperax strategy advisor Helen Ruan and Sperax researcher Joe Yu from UCLA covered Sperax Overview, Sperax BDLS security and performance advantages, security vulnerabilities in other BFT protocols, and took interesting questions from attendees, including ones from Blockchain Capital.

On the same day, the Sperax Korean community held its first AMA. Sperax team shared updates on Sperax team development, answered questions from the community, and offered generous rewards to the participants who raised the most popular question in the Q&A session. We were really grateful for the support of our Korean friends.
