It's Been a while since I've created a post on read.cash So I might as well get in deep and explain it from step 1.

Axie Infinity is a game in which you collect Axie, each Axie is Unique. Here is an example of one.
Gameplay and Axie
Axie are NFT's (Non Fungible tokens) on the Ethereum Blockchain and each Axie has a different value. You can Buy and sell Axie in the Axie marketplace for Ethereum. They are also available to sell anywhere NFT can be sold. This is one way in which you can profit from this game. Another way is by breeding. You can breed two Axie and out comes a baby. Each baby is also unique but takes on traits from it's parents. Once raised you can use this Axie to play the game or sell it.
How does breeding work and what is the benefit of creating new and unique Axie?
The gameplay includes both Adventure mode (PVE) and Arena (PVP) and most recently land play (Demo). Different Axie have different strengths and weakness. Each Axie have different stats and skills and appearances. Breeding two Axies can bring forth new Axie that are possibly stronger than the parents. However it is interesting to note that Each Axie passes on dominant and recessive genes. So nothing is guaranteed even when using a breeding calculator. Obviously more powerful Axie garnish better prices.
To breed a Axie you need Small Love potions (SLP). This is an ERC20. This can currently be gained in two ways. By playing both PVE and PVP content. You can also buy and sell SLP in most major exchanges.
--Yes I said you can sell your earned SLP from game play.-- At the time of this writing SLP are worth $0.0314 (USD). You can earn several dollars a day by playing a game you enjoy. Current PVE cap is 100 plus you gain 50 for daily bonus and PVP has no cap. However you are limited by energy.
AXS and SLP
AXS and SLP are both ERC20 tokens on the Etereum blockchain and each have different but vital roles in the Axie universe.
Lets start with SLP. As explained earlier, it has 2 real purposes. Breeding Axie and as a valued token to exchange. I prefer to use it for the first purpose as part of the fun is breeding new Axie. You can earn it in game and purchase it in most major exchanges.
AXS has much more utility and also value. At the time of this writing it's value is $0.63 (USD). AXS differs in that it's features for usability will be staking, governance and allow you to be eligible for special in game features. Later you will be able to earn it in game. For now it is only available on some major exchanges. These uses are currently unavailable but expect them in the near future. Very exciting, this also brings more decentralization to the game and holders of the AXS can have a say in what happens to the game in the future.
Land
Currently land play is only out in demo mode for those fortunate enough to own land. This will end shortly and comeback in the future. Hopefully fully functional and ready to go.
Currently you can only do a few things. Gather resources, fight PVE and build furniture with your resources. You can also place NFTs on your land associated with Axie. For now none of it does anything but look cool. I'm sure in the future we will be able to interact with it and even more! This is only a taste of what's to come.
Land is considered an NFT and the items placed upon the land are also Considered NFTs. Land and items were available in land packs early on and are currently sold out. However you can purchase them from others users in the Axie marketplace until the next sale and they become available again. They are not cheap. This is my most anticipated game update. I can't wait until it's officially released.
Scholarship Program
Currently Axie prices are a little high for someone who wants to jump in and start playing from nothing. You must own a minimum of 3 Axie to be able to start and at current prices you are probably spending $80.00 minimum (at the time of writing this). Just to get started. This is a high barrier of entry and is likely to deter some people right off the bat. I have heard plans for the future of users being able to start for free with soul bound Axie that can't be bought or sold or can't breed. However currently this is unavailable and I'm not entirely certain it will happen.
What the community has done is come up with a way to allow users to play and start earning SLP. This way they can get a feel for the game and get started. Once they earn enough they can then start on their own.
The scholarship allows users with excess Axie to help those with none get started. How this works is the granter creates an account. The execute choices remain in their hands. Things like breeding/buying sell of Axie and Exchanging SLP. However the gameplay is allotted to the new user. They can then play the game and in turn earn SLP. Most scholarship providers will require conditions such as min daily usage and min withdrawn limits. They will also take a fair share of the profits. 70/30 for example.
It's important to state that Axie has recognized this and even vetted some of the Scholarship providers. However I encourage you to do your own research before choosing someone to provide you with a scholarship. This entire amount of SLP is in their control. It requires trust from both sides and a good or bad reputation in this community goes a long way.
Summary
Axie Infinity is a leader in the gaming Blockchain world. It's allows you to earn in PVP, PVE formats. You can earn from buying and selling Axie. You can earn from Breeding your Axie and more. This is currently still very early in the games development and already it has made huge gains. There will be staking and decentralized entities in the future allowing the community to decide how the Axie universe will take form. You can start with the scholarship program and start earning for free too!
