From floral textures to easier fishing, here are the best Stardew Valley mods
Looking for some Stardew Valley mods to try? The ultra-successful farming and rural life simulator still has a huge player base, even though it came out in 2016. Much of this vibrant community is centered around mods, forever finding new ways to customize the game, making it quality. Even without mods, Stardew Valley is one of the best laptop games to play on a low-spec machine. Then let's take a look at the mods in Stardew Valley together.
How to Install Stardew Valley Mods
Adding mods to Stardew Valley can be a breeze if you only have a few you want to use. Many are installed by placing the downloaded files in the “Mods” folder in your Stardew Valley directory. If you are playing on Steam, the default location is “C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley”. If you only want a few useful mods, be sure to check the installation instructions and dependencies and then dump them in your mods folder.
Stardew Valley Expansion
Stardew Valley Expanded is one of the biggest Stardew mods on the market and it really feels like a full Stardew Valley expansion. Adds tons of new characters with their own histories and events. It also adds new farm maps and tons of new game locations. These are just big changes. SDVE comes with lots of little tweaks too, and if there's any mod worth restarting Stardew, it's this one.
Farm Expansion
For those of us who have a really hard time choosing a farm type when starting a new farm, Farm Extended offers the standard farm benefits of all private farms. The expanded farm has areas set aside for fishing, foraging and mining, as well as fenced areas designed to prevent animals from escaping. Modder Forkmaster also adds a mine cart stop to the back of the farmhouse for quick travel directly from the home to other parts of the city.
Attractive Standard Farm
This is another excellent standard farm design, though focused on being cute rather than efficient. This farm map has lots of special crop fields of different sizes, a few ponds and just a few corners to zip up buildings. Definitely for the farmers who want a beautiful piece of land but don't worry about maximizing profits.
Stardew Aquarium
Made by a talented group of modders, this unreasonably cool add-on adds an entire aquarium to the game. Just like in Animal Crossing, the fish you donate to the aquarium become exhibits that you can see for yourself. The aquarium is located in a new beach area accessible by train in Pelican Town.
Ellie's Ideal Greenhouse
There are loads of mods to expand the greenhouse, many of which are oversized. Ellie's redesign is very balanced and features three different greenhouse redesigns, from the humble one above to a larger two-room building. You can decorate your greenhouse with a better landscaped central plot and planting areas, or you can go for a large second orchard room.
