Writer's Block and how to manage it.
Have you on several occasion tried to write but feel absolutely weak and and just to tired to think words in your head to write?
It happens to me most times and especially after been engaged in a lengthy article and writing for hours or day. It get to a point I just feel like sleeping or resting all through. Writer's block is real and have great impact on our work as writers. And if your main source of income is from writing then it should be a call for concern. But before we delve deeper, there is need to really understand what a writer's block is. You may have gotten a rough idea from the above analogy but to put it proper and according to my understanding, writer's block is that point where you hit the wall when carrying out any writing project. Don't get me wrong please, I don't mean writing and without looking you just go hit the wall. No no no! It isn't what I'm trying to explain here but rather that point in writing that you reach where you can't think no more.
The brain have got its limit and when the energy for the brain is spent, our thinking starts to vaporize. In serious situations dizziness comes in. And when we write it puts so much toll on the brain. It doesn't matter the kind of writing you're doing, be it copy writing or creative writing the brain gets pressured, it may be differently though. Research have proven that more energy is consumed by the brain. And that means, writing could be really hard work because more energy is spent.
The enemy of writers is the 'block ' which we explained up there. And so bad for persons whose livelihood is from writing jobs. Let's find out the ways on how to manage writer block effectively.
Always have enough rest; resting is a great medicine not only for health but also to allow the brain think beyond the horizons. Since the brain remain the most crucial tool as a writer then resting to keep it working to its optimum is necessary.
When you feel too tired to think leave it there; after writing series of articles, your brain maybe feeling too tired to think. And mind you, what happens to the brain also affects the body. So, the tiredness in the brain also takes a toll on the body. When this happens, just know its a sign of the writer's block. Stop writing to continue when you can think clearly. Else, you may write disconcodent words if you insists on continuing.
Go on a vacation; going on vacations relieves your mind greatly and helps the writer to see things more clearly and make proper judgement on them. you don't have to go on some very expensive vacation. A simple visiting of cool places like water sides, going into a jungle to observe trees and greens, or taking a rest in a plantation listening to the serenade of birds.
Eating energy rich food; I heard energy rich food are caloric and could lead to obesity in a long run. since it is so I would advice that you keep strictly to the advice of you therapists or a physician, especially for those with caloric issues. But, the brains needs energy and these energy comes from mostly caloric foods. So, make sure your diet is balance in your consumption. Healthy caloric drinking are also cool to have by the side.
Take a break from writing; let's say you're this writer hollic who's always punching keyboards to develop stories. It would be ideal to sometimes take a break from your work to give yourself some breathing spaces. You may say, hey have got to hit this deadline, but this is a gist for you; would you rather write something engaging or something ordinary and artificial that have no connection? Now the second question is what your answers would be when you over strain yourself without getting a break.
This is it folks. Let's hear your suggestions in the comment. See yaw!
When I experience this, I take a rest or a break like reading random stuffs or watching a movie. Before you know it, writer's block is over
