Jackson had always held the traditional belief of waking up at the right-hand side of the bed. Grandma Maureen had told them that if they do wake up on the left-hand side of the bed while their wife is pregnant, their baby would be a mysterious one. And here in Adullam, the natives don't want to hear of magic or anything related to it. So, witchcraft, sorcery, prophecy, or soothsaying shouldn't be exhibited in the land.
After a century, Jackson Jacob's wife, Martha had this great feeling that their only daughter, Jenny who is set to get married, is a mysterious child. But since she had no evidence, there was not much she could do.
Jenny's wedding was off the hook. The topmost dignitaries in the valley attended. Being the son of the Mayor of the cave of Adullam, Steve drew the attention of many. It was during the wedding feast that some old folks discovered that Jenny was an elf. They signaled themselves at the wedding reception to look closely at the bride to ascertain that she was an elf for real. They whispered among themselves:
We would sound the valley going tomorrow to attention announcing that the flushing of elf and witches will begin in earnest.
Mayor Laz thought it wasn't the right time to carry out the flush protest despite that he never knew the plan of the elders-in-council, to alienate her daughter-in-law. They weren't pleased about the fact that the son of the Mayor could not pick any of their daughters in marriage.
After a few months of her wedding, Jenny became pregnant and gave birth to Jory, a little elf like herself. Perhaps, her husband Steve wasn't aware of the curse not to wake up at the left-hand side of the bed.
The campaign against sorcery, magic, and all mysterious humans started. When it was discovered that Jenny was part of the target of the elders, she sought the assistance of the Jacksons to keep her elf daughter safe from the wicked hunt. She promised to send in a tiny luxury every winter as support for raising her daughter, Jory. The Jacksons accepted her plea and promised to keep to their part of the agreement. Jenny disappeared from the planet after a solid agreement had been reached with Jenny. She would only come around once a year and it would be during winter.
Whereas the campaign became full-fledged as some lineage and clan practicing sorcery, magic and witchcraft were deduced in the process and alienated from the cave area.
A few years later.
An outbreak of a mysterious disease which was diagnosed to be terrestrial influenza was rapidly claiming lives all around the earth, and inhabitants of the Cave of Adullam were not spared either. It was the winter season, the period that Jenny would come visiting and pay her ransom of a tiny luxury.
When Jenny came, everywhere was calm. The normal busy life in the cave area had changed into grave silence. She feared that something was wrong and that Jory may be in some sort of trouble.
When she entered the Jacksons, she discovered that it was a widespread pandemic and everyone had to pipe low.
There was a great relief when Jenny was spotted in the lobby. She spent almost an hour cuddling Jory at the Jacksons. With her mystic powers, she gave the Jacksons a cure against influenza and went her way. While others were busy experimenting with other therapies, the Jacksons we're living healthy with a cure against the world's dreaded influenza.
The whole world was given new codes for inter-personal contact to minimize the spread of the disease. But all along, research is being carried out looking for a cure for the disease.
On her next visit, Jackson Marvin who was also a scientist requested that Jenny help him with the therapy for the cure so he could present to the association of scientists and for the pandemic to be arrested, once and for all.
Jenny accepted Marvin's request only ground that the drug would be named Jenny's Cure and that magic, sorcery, or elves be allowed to live in the same community as mankind. The scientist accepted and the Jenny returned to Adullam with other mysterious persons who had done into hiding following the campaign against their kind.
