Mumbai Police Cyber Crime Cell has arrested a man for harassing actress Sonakshi Sinha. According to India Today, a man named Shashikant Gulab Yadav was arrested from Arangabad area of Maharashtra on the basis of Sonakshi's allegations. He is a restaurant manager. A case has been filed against him under the Indian Penal Code and Cyber Act.
Pinkvilla reports that the actress' team has recently compiled a list of people who have been harassing Sonakshi on social media. An FIR was lodged in this regard on August 14. The man has since been arrested.
A few days ago, Sonakshi launched a campaign called 'Ab Bass'. He declared the fight against online harassment. He also asked her to refrain from making negative comments on her social media account. But even then some people continue to make various negative comments aimed at him.
Sonakshi Sinha said, ‘Thank you to the Mumbai Cyber Crime Branch for taking swift action and co-operating in this matter. I have taken action against the culprits so that others may have the courage to see me. And no, we won't let anyone else be harassed online. I am very happy to be a part of this campaign. I will help as many people as possible who are being harassed online. '
Harassment of actresses on social media is nothing new. They are often harassed with sarcastic remarks. Many actresses including Dia Mirza, Sonam Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha have been vocal about this.
