Society has this ugly tendency of rejecting what is different, they fear the unknown and show disgust at the unfamiliar with an open expression thereof.
In the so-called normal communities, a boy gets judged for not being interested in girls at a young age. A girl is told she won’t be loved if she doesn’t submit to either cosmetics or superiors.
How much worse are the words to someone who looks or acts completely abnormal.
Robert Hoge, author of the book ‘Ugly’ made an amazing statement at TEDxSouthbank “Own Your Face”. Born with a deformity on his face and legs he went through many reconstructive surgeries to finally realize that he is amazing from within and even though he doesn’t look like Chris Evans he has become successful because he moved away from social acceptance.
How do you change the mentality of a community set to discriminate against the unwanted? Being insulted for being the only LGBTQ in your circle in today’s age is so disappointing and embarrassing that there’s no maturity, no mental evolution, we are still dealing with racism, How much more someone born with a missing limb.
Nick Vujicic my personal role model when it comes to self-motivation. Born with no limbs he became limitless as a motivational speaker and today has a family and wonderful life when people thought he would amount to nothing. Imagen the insults he had to endure because he was born different and yet he chose to become what he desired and not was forced upon him.
The bottom line is to stop judging from a preconceived standpoint about someone you have yet to meet.
Don’t be shell shocked by a society that thinks of you as different. If you bad then bad will come to you, if you are good then good will find you. To those that do nothing, they will get nothing but those that give their best will be rewarded for their hard work.
Society is influenced by clans and clans are directed by leaders who are outspoken individuals. If you don’t fit in then it’s time to stand out and lead your life and allow your light to shine so brightly it changes the way we think.
