Issue #002, Urban to Rural Adventures
There was an emergency and we had to take off.
Rushing down to be there on time before any more bad news because the hospitals in the rural areas are underfunded and far from the local community. We had a 4 hour's drive ahead of us with panic in our hearts but this article is not about my personal dilemma but rather about the rural environment.
Urban vs Rural everything, okay somethings
I don't know why but it's warmer this side than at home, wait it's freakishly hot to the point that lotion just sweats off. The air is fresher and there's a constant aroma from the plants in a certain area to the livestock. We drove past open lands and farms, crop farms, cattle farms, and an orange farm that looked so cool because of the way the trees were arranged.
Back in the day, the toilet use to be outside in a single unit building and no flush. This time around the house is complete with everything, basic, in the house which is a major save apart from the chicken in the backyard. Red sand and grass patches seem to be normal until you realize that red sand stains and I can smell the grass or is it the avocado tree or mango tree and any of the multi trees all around.
Community difference and mannerism
Being close to the city has its advantages but a crowded community leads to an untrusted and rude confrontation at any given time. Meanwhile visiting the farmlands or close to it we are greeted politely and everyone helps everyone. The kids play outside. Every city folk around the world is amazed now because our modern-day kids are device crazy. They are screen junkies and in-home dwellers, not all kids but it feels that way. Rural kids are playing with soccer balls and plastic bags balls or pretending balls and they enjoy being active.
Nature can be uncomfortable and smelly
The heat, oh!, the heat is too much as though the sun fell on us, please consider that I am an indoor kinda guy. I deal with the regular toxic smells from a congested traffic flow and an aroma of cologne and suddenly hit the fresh air and manure apart from the plant smells it's not that bad just unusual.
Had to take a photo of this chicken, I felt it sorry.
What's up with mosquitoes and flies and why are they bigger? yes, these insects are just annoying and persistent. If you like little critters then the rural oasis is your paradise from centipedes to millipedes and creatures I have never seen before.
Cows in the backyard and chickens on the rooftop are nothing compared to the dogs who don't bark unnecessarily, in fact, they are so passive compared to our urban dogs who never stop barking and attacking.
Will I ever return? I probably will.
I personally don't like the outdoors or touching animals but the serenity and peace were calming and I currently don't know my neighbors because they are so rude and having a respectful community feels safe because everyone knows everyone and helps each other out which seems perfect but I only know these people for a day and there might be secrets below the surface.
Thank you for reading this article.
See you now now.
