My wildlife photography: the tufted duck. Aythia fuligula. The male ducks have a very typical colour pattern, a black and white contrast, that together with the little tuft makes them easy to identify. But what I like most about this species is their eyes: they look almost as they're glowing!

A new chapter begins! As of today, DEC won't be the reward in Splinterlands battles, being replaced with SPS, the governance token. DEC price as been soaring since the announcement, and we'll probably see them at the intended peg of 1000 DEC =1$ pretty soon! I've beeen waiting for it to by some more cards with the DEC I'm holding, so guess it will be shopping time soon... ;)

My wildlife photography: the white throated kingfisher, Halcyon smyrnensis. This was the first (and only) kingfisher species I saw when visiting Sri Lanka. To compensate for the lack of other species... they were all over the place! I was able to take a bunch of photos and photograph them from different spots. These guys have amazing colours, and didn't mind posing for the camera at all.

My wildlife photography: the Indian roller, Coracias benghalensis. This little guy appeared just at the end of the visit to Uda Wallawe national park, in Sri Lanka, and I'm so glad he did! Rollers are beautiful birds, with amazing colours, and it was the first time I've seen this particular species.

Sometimes you have those lucky moments... and in Splinterlands last season, lady luck came knocking at my door! True, no legendary or even epic cards; but with this insane amount of DEC, I can buy a ton of them! 😁😁😁

My wildlife photography: the little cormorant, Microcarbo niger. Cormorants in my home country are bigger, but they share the same behaviour: perching with open wings, a way for cormorants to speed up feather drying, after swimming and diving in search of food. It's a good way to identify a cormorant from a distance! Photo taken in Tangalle, Sri Lanka.

My wildlife photography: the scaly breasted munia, Lonchura punctulata. These birds are often found in the pet trade, and it was great seeing them on their natural habitat. Here, in Bali, feasting in the rice fields near Ubud.

It's been a while since I got decent daily quest rewards on Splinterlands. Been playing less this season, and competition seems a lot tougher now, but I managed to get 12 chests today, and the rewards were definitely good: 1 epic, one golden rare, almost 1k DEC and a buttload of potions! I need all the potions I can get when I open my CL packs. ;)

My wildlife photography: the european stonechat, Saxicola rubicola. This was one of the first species I learned to identify: it has a distinct colour pattern, males and females are dimorphic (meaning the have diferent plummage), and they normally like to perch on top of bushes, fences and poles, out in the open, making them very easy to spot. A novice birdwatcher's dream! Two females and two males here, males have a black head.

My wildlife photography: the mallard, Anas platyrhynchos. Mallards can be seen all over the place, but this one had some of the brightest colours I've seen. He was resting near a half frozen lake in Reikjavik, so I was able to get pretty close to get this shot.

My wildlife photography: the corn bunting, Emberiza calandra. These little guys are faster heard than seen, since they have a song very easy to recognize. They are bulkier passerines, and don't mind posing for photos as well, so chances are that apart from hearing them, you will see them too!

My wildlife photography: the black kite, Milvus migrans. This beautiful bird of prey is very common in Spain, and it's easy recognized in flight by its tail shape. But here, caught a lone bird perching and looking at the horizon, at Doñana national park. Can totally understand him, the view was great; and the park is filled with wildlife, especially birds!

For the Splinterland players out there, fantastic news: SPS token will begin trading on Huobi tomorrow! Up to this date, it baffled me how the most played blockchain game wasn't trading in any major exchange... maybe this is the beginning? Next few months will be interesting! ;)

My wildlife photography: the great spotted cuckoo, Clamator glandarius. Not my best photo for sure, but one of my favourite sightings, since it was only the second time in my life that I saw this species! I'll have to visit @harrierbird again at the right timing, this cuckoo tends to pay her a visit when he visits the country! ;)

My wildlife photography: the european bee eater, Merops apiaster. I was hoping to visit a lagoon for some birdwatching, and discovered it had completely dried up in these last years. Supposedly it fills in winter, but judging by the landscape, long were the days the lagoon was bustling with life. At least this bee eater appeared to cheer me up, and holding his lastest catch!

My wildlife photography: the black vulture, Coragyps atratus. Yes, they might not be the prettiest bird you've ever seen, but they play a crucial part in the ecossystem, due to their scavenging habits. And as you can see, they too appreciate a gentle walk in the beach! ;)

My wildlife photography: the white stork, Ciconia ciconia. Storks are migratory birds, but we have a ton of couples thay stay in the country all year long. Probably one of the best conservation programs made in this country: there were very few storks a few dozens years back, and now we can see them roaming the skies quite frequently. And it's quite a show!

Yep, another Splinterlands post. Today is a special one, thow... less than 24h to the end of an airdrop that lasted the whole year! And without a doubt, the most valuable one I've received up to date. What comes now, remains to be seen; but I have faith that we haven't seen the best yet! Blockchain gaming will be a game changer in the future, and Splinterlands is without a doubt one of the best (and the best one for me!).

Among the changes in Splinterlands chest rewards, the ability to get more potions (instead of a single potion per chest, like it was before) is one of my favourites: since I have a ton of packs to open and each potion increases the change of receiving something good, the more potions the better. And being able to win them instead of buying is the cherry on top!

My wildife photography: the yellow legged gull, Larus michahellis. One of the most common seagulls in Portugal, here posing in a beach somewhere in the southwest. Although they look good in the ground, they are a lot cooler when flying above our heads... just as long as they don't drop any "present"... :)

After the cuts on card's cashbacks and staking rewards, crypto.com just announced that full cashback from Netflix and Spotify will also come to an end. Well, at least now they announced it in a properly manner, since the changes will only come next year. Still, I do feel kind of cheated, and can't imagine how anyone that joined recently must be. Time to search for alternatives?

My wildlife photography: the indian palm squirrel, Funambulus palmarum. These little guys were a common presence in Sri Lanka; the trouble is getting them to stand still to take photos, since they're lightning fast! Luckily, the lady at this hostel had a small "breakfast table" for the animals that visited their garden, and the rice attracted quite a few guests, being palm squirrels one of them. And as you can see, they didn't mind sharing breakfast at all!

My wildlife photography: the great kiskadee, Pitangus sulphuratus. This colourful bird is a very common bird in central and south America. These photos were taken in Costa Rica, but the first ime I saw it was in Brasil, where it has a very funny name, "Bem-te-vi"; for what I was told, the name comes from his calling, that has a similar tone to the words.

Splinterlands posted a roadmap in their latest AMA's post,. and things sure look exciting! With less than 10 days until SPS airdrop finishes, new cards in a very near future, more changes to the ranked rewards... is there anyone playing the game NOT excited with the next months? :)

A good way to enjoy these warm nights? A small concert in a garden. I had no idea what I was seeing, and it turned out to be a one-woman-show, with tons of different instruments and a beautiful voice. To top it up, the little garden had a pretty atmosphere as well!
