Title: Furnace of love
November 3rd 1865
The sky was black and beneath it, were the dark clouds, the continuous lightning strikes above gave the earth a little tremor, as rain threatened to fall.
On the top of the Old Romania Church stairs, was a lady, wearing a dark pants, a shirt and a black leather shiny jacket, her long sleeved trench coat, leather gloves and black knee boot. Her hair was packed in a bun.
She stood in front of the window looking at the house that stood erect just a distance away, as she pondered on the right time to carry out her operation.
Ten years ago, The Montgomery family had come to raid her home, she was just eleven years old and was just learning how to ride a horse.
She could remember vividly, “Yelena, come ride Emilia” her father said.
“Dad I’m scared.” Yelena scared voice replied.
“She’s not gonna hurt you.” Her elder sister Rose said laughing at her.
“Come on Yel. At least she’s not violent like Phil.” Her elder brother Anderson told her. His brown horse whined at him in response, Anderson tried to touch it, but the horse moved away.
“Cranky much.” His father said.
While they were all joking and having a good family time, they failed to notice the Montgomery family entering their ranch.
They didn’t hear the sounds of the a several sword clangs, as a fight occurred between the guards and servants of the ranch, and another group of mercenariess, with the latter winning the fight.
Until the mother and wife, entered, with a sword placed round her neck by a mercenary. Behind, Richard Montgomery followed with a evil smirk, both hands crossed behind.
“Richard Montgomery!” Yelena father called.
“Mark Brenton Brayden.” Richard said, a sinister smile plastered on his face.
“Let my family go and I’ll give you what you want.”
Richard laughed “What do you think I want? Your land and ranch of course, if I’m gonna have it then I have to wipe out every member..”
“You don’t have to take my family, I’ll lay my life for them.” Mark begged.
“If you had listen to me then, and had given it all up to me, then probably it might not have come to this.”
“Richard, this is greed and you know it, we’ve been friends since childhood and I accept that I have been the most successful one but you can’t reap where you didn’t sow.”
Richard laughed maniacally. “I’ll reap where I did not sow. I’m sorry my friend but you have to die now.”
In a swift second, Anderson had swept Yelena off her feet and put her on Phil, slapping the horse.
Yelena looked back as the horse saddled her away, one by one her family dropped dead. She took a last look at Richard Montgomery and his sons including her best friend Harry. Richard didn't bother to chase after her, knowing well she was just an adopted child, and being a female one, he knew she won't survive on her own. So she was as good as dead to him.
From that day the flame of 'Vengeance’ ignited inside her. She had grew up with this family who found her almost freezing to death beside their lawn and had adopted her as they were yet to have a child of their own, however two years later, Yelena's presence had blessed them with a twin, both boys.
As she stood on the stairways reminiscing about her life, she was grateful for her foster father, he was a very understanding man who taught her how to combat, and use all kinds of swords.
She was glad he let her chose her choice of school, making the change of her name, and her identity the easiest. Yelena turned her blonde hair to black using dye so it wasn’t easy to recognize her.
The youngest son of the Montgomery, who used to be her best friend, Harry didn’t recognize her. After all it had been long he saw her, adding to the fact he didn't expect her to be alive.
As her new name was Amelia Fosters.
A few months later she started a non pretentious love relationship with Harry, he had always been someone she loved despite his father atrocities.
How Yelena made him to forget the old her and come to term with the new her, she didn’t know how she did, but he a few times made mention of her resembling someone he knew when he was a child, but he didn't mention the fact he expected her to be dead.
Harry loved her. His guts always told him that there was something about her, he always felt a connection whenever she’s with him, like he knew her but he couldn’t place it.
Yelena took her time, most times after school closes, she would go to the Montgomery ranch, studying every place, it was later she found out that her family house was sold to his younger brother, Richard Montgomery the greedy one.
Finally on the day of her birthday, clocking the age of twenty one, it was time she acted.
Yelena all dressed in black, pocket knives in her boot and a sheath strapped around her waist, containing a sharp katana sword. She walked briskly and fiercely to the Montgomery gate , promised her foster parents , the Fosters that she will come back alive, her step brothers wished her luck.
At the gate, she had expertly slit the throats of the five guards unaware and they dropped dead immediately, just with the daggers in her grasp.
Yelena strolled carefully inside the compound, Making sure to kill every guard she saw silently, making sure not to raise an alarm. She was like a thief in the night.
Barging inside the living room, catching them off guard because they were all engrossed with their family meeting.
Soon as the eldest son of Richard noticed her, blood dripping from her daggers, he knew that was no friend and he went on strike mode, grabbing a sword from the wall, but before he could unsheath it, a dagger pierced the side of his head. He dropped dead to the ground, eyes open.
“Amelia! what is going on?” Harry asked, shocked.
“I am no Amelia and I’m giving your father a taste of his own medicine.” Yelena replied coldly.
“My dear girl, we can settle this amicably.” Richard said hoping he could calm her down.
“Oh, did you let Mark Brenton Brayden settle it amicably with you. To be honest, he had nothing to settle with you. With your greed and selfishness you used it to murder my family.”
“Yelena!” Harry elder wife said Calling her name with so much venom and glaring at her, in a swift motion a knife had pierced her eyes and it stuck out.
“Yelena I’m sorry.” Richard and the rest begged, but all fell on deaf ears as Yelena finally unsheath her katana sword, killing the rest of the family effortlessly, like a trained assassin.
Harry thought she would kill him but she didn’t.
“I’m sorry Harry, I love you enough to not kill you.”
Her last words to him before, and in a blink of an eye she was gone.
A year Later. 1866 December 10th
Harry was in a haste, wearing a cloth over his blood stained body and went out the gate of the butchering house, not looking at where he was going, accidentally bumping into a strong feminine body and apologized not raising his head up as he bent down to help her pick her sack of fruits.
Thier hands touched, and both felt it, like it was electricity, the chemistry was still there and the connection was obvious. He looked at her.
“Yelena.”
She stood up and started to walk away but he held her hand and pulled her back.
“I’m not mad at you and I don’t hate you either, I understand it was karma. Why did you leave me alone?”
Tears welled up in her eyes, she never thought she had see him again but here he was in person and not in imaginations.
“I’m sorry, I thought you would hate me for what I did to your parents.”
Harry chuckled “I would never. It was an eye for an eye. I miss you everyday.” The last statement came out as a whisper.
The bond was surprisingly restored, their love was reignited and reunited. Two lovers met with a collision, like a truck hitting a truck but still no grave impact was made.
They are two fortunate people who met In an unfortunate situation but at the end love conquered all.
