Ac Milan secured a vital three points in the race for the scudetto.
Both side came to the match knowing that victory would see them move to the to of Seria A table. However, with this in mind, a nervousness was present on the pitch neither side look like scoring in a first half of football that lacked in quality. Both sets of players played out a scrappy half that was full of fouls and stoppages. The second half provided more action in the first five minutes than in the whole first half, as Milan took the lead in the 49th minute. Despite Napoli piling on the pressure in the dying minutes, Maignan and his defense put up a valiant display, as they held firm to protect their clean sheet and secure a vital three points.
