Welcome To Cryptopia: City-State Society Based On The Blockchain
The Cryptoverse is infinite, and is impossible to be up-to-date with all the news across every chain. We usually focus on our preferred blockchains and protocols, often missing that "big new thing". It's the same when it comes to NFTs and Play2Earn, as the sector bloomed since it's hay days!
However, I am doing my best to search and share some of the gems I encounter during my Cryptoverse journey! One thing links to another, and it's amazing how I accidentally stumble upon new projects. I am a big Travala fan, using it for crypto-powered holidays, and was curious when they announced an AMA with Cryptopia
The play2earn game brings a different approach to anything you've seen before, with state-of-the art graphics and UI. Cryptopia is an independent city-state society based on the blockchain, where citizens can buy, sell, vote, and perform other essential activities using a safe, secure, and transparent system.
The Cryptopia metaverse lies outside of any existing nation’s borders, allowing its citizens free reign to experiment and create the community they want for themselves. Cryptopia has become humanity’s haven, the reboot of society the world needs to survive.
I've listened the AMA, asked questions and got answers that I am now sharing with you! The main focus for Cryptopia was to create a game that is entertaining, engaging, and has actual gameplay. Blockchain games showed several design flaws, the most notable of which was that many play2earn games were simply not fun to play and that not everyone can earn from them.
If a game isn't fun, nobody will play it. Even if there is a financial incentive to play, once the monetary return does not match the player's expectation, there is no reason to stay. I've experienced this with Axie Infinity, Pegaxy, Alien Worlds, Wombat Dungeon Master and many more. It's great at the start, you earn nicely... then it gets nerfed!
Big players and OGs will keep earning, while casual players will face a pay2earn challenge! Players will either stop or move to a different game. Cryptopia was built different, with activities that are not just fun but contribute to a player character’s progression. Join, claim land, build and enjoy!
Cryptopia has a compelling story and every citizen plays a role in a greater narrative. Players are organized and bound by beliefs and goals, with Eco, Industrial, Tech, and Traditional as the four main factions. Each faction was two subgroups: Pirates and Bounty Hunters.
Every faction has different priorities regarding Climate, Profit, Production, Science, and Cooperation, which is creating conflicts of interest. Various factors influence the potential for profit and the strategic choices players make. From the direct impact of the climate on agricultural and industrial outputs to the nuances of cooperation between the factions, players must navigate the landscape of the following factors.
Satoshi’s work states that the world is due for economic collapse due to its reliance on fiat currency. Cryptopia is a nation based on the blockchain, a new society would serve as an example for all others to follow.
Ships are essential for exploration and quests, each with unique capabilities and upgrades. Every player will get a starter ship upon account creation, which can later be upgraded for enhanced gameplay.
Those who can and want to take the investment route can become Tycoons and own supply chains, eventually building a DeFi empire. Those who want to take the free-to-play-and-earn route may focus on quests and jobs as an Adventurer, eventually bootstrapping their way to owning digital assets.
Or maybe... become a pirate and loot others! Cryptopia looks fun, and designed for long-term engagement. My story started immediately after the AMA, as I joined the ECO ranks and started exploring this brand new world.
Most of the blockchain games are repetitive and unfair, and usually the NFT prices will spiral out of control and nerf the rewards. Cryptopia focus is on both play and earn, as players can level up on different routes and mechanics. And there's also the $TOS token!
The Purpose of the $TOS token is to facilitate seamless interoperability across multiple blockchains. The supply is capped at 10 billion and released over time as quest rewards. Players are incentivized to reinvest their earnings in businesses and character advancement, for better gameplay and better rewards.
You can also earn $TOS or power by doing quests, building a team, or inviting crypto frens' to dive into Cryptopia! The earned power will unlock chests and rewards. Doing missions will also open another big opportunity... participation and eligibility for $TOS airdrops!
$TOS is the ticker for the Cryptos ERC20 token that is used as in-game currency, labor compensation and auction/bidding token. TOS is the default currency players use to pay for items and services within Cryptopia!
Players are both the payers and recipients of TOS in diverse labor roles. One player might employ construction workers by paying them in TOS to speed up building construction, or factory owners can pay factory workers in TOS to operate machinery. This dynamic balance nurtures an equitable in-game labor economy and creates a mix between SimCity and tycoon-style games!
Cryptopia's tax system plays a vital role in sustaining the game's ecosystem. A small slice of the $TOS used for in-game activities is directed into the treasury. These funds are crucial for the game's longevity as they are allocated for quest rewards, community initiatives, and other incentives that keep players engaged.
