Splinterlands keep raising the standards when it comes to blockchain gaming. The play2earn game on Hive keeps growing bigger and bigger with each expansion. The Rebellion went live at the start of December, with all the new cards available for play.  I want to share my first Rebellion unwrapping, and the amazing cards I've got! Are you entertained?

The pre-sale had an astonishing success, and the general sale follows the same pattern. Half million packs were sold already, with 50,846 bonus packs distributed. The standard price per pack was 5000 DEC, but I was able to spend VOUCHER tokens in order to receive a discount on the base price. Each VOUCHER token used reduced the price by 200 Credits / DEC and the maximum discount available using VOUCHER tokens will be 20%.

Each Rebellion pack contains five cards, with at least one guaranteed rare card. I am a poor battle mage, one of those that will pick small tasks for an extra coin, and all that I could afford during the pre-sale was two packs! I plan to buy more... but what to sell?

Ladies and gentleman my first Rebellion pack didn't disappointed. Two rare cards and three common ones in the first unwrapping. Argarux Magus and the Pirate of the Eight came to stay, and their aid will be useful for the battles yet to come.

According to the lore, the Argarux Magus is part of the onyx orcs whose settlements span the western foothills of the Daigenloft Mountains and stretch into the caverns of the Upper Daigendark.  They are fiercely territorial and often at war with other splinters that encroach upon their borders and if war doesn’t find them... they expand their borders until they find it themselves.

Theirs is a culture of conflict and bloodshed, and there is no greater honor than to fight and die in battle. The magi of the tribe are no exception. They often stand near the front lines and unleash wild bursts of magic, each fallen foe fueling their furor. Worth mentioning that the Argarux Magus gains Bloodlust at level four? Bloodshed guaranteed!

According to the lore, the Pirates of the Eight are an infamous crew of pirates led by Captain Corin Drace, who commands eight fleets totaling nearly seven-hundred ships. They are the bane of the three seas of Praetoria, sailing its coasts and raiding the merchant and trading ships that carry goods from one port to another.

They can found in practically every port, where they take what they want from the ships in the harbor before heading to a local tavern to have a good time! Blast and Reach from level one brings havoc into the battle.

Timeline and achievements:

💥 All packs purchased during the presale can be opened

💥 All of the new cards and mechanics are already added to the game

💥 The Untamed set has been rotated out of Modern format

💥 The players are able to claim their rewards from the Rebellion presale.

💥 The general sale of Rebellion booster packs has begun.

💥 There will be a total of 9.5M Rebellion packs available during the general sale.

💥 Conflicts will go live soon, staking unopened Rebellion packs and cards to earn airdrop rewards.

You may ask what are this .... "conflicts"? The Splinterlands team revamped the old airdrop system to a new and improved mechanism where only eligible players will get airdrops. The new system was called conflicts, to vibe with the rebellion theme, and it will only count players who stake their packs.

It doesn't matter how many Rebellion packs a o player had bought, if they are not staked. Get your packs ready for staking, and those legendary cards. The new synergy will reward holders more than those who bought and sold the packs!

The Rebellion set added four new unit abilities: Armored Strike, Corrosive Ward, Flank, and Lookout. he new abilities will enhance certain elements, making the team's synergy more... deadly!

  • Armored Strike - The units with this ability will gain an ADDITIONAL Melee attack using the Armor stats

  • Corrosive Ward - For me this is Acid Thornes and the nemesis to Repair! You can't Repair something that's been melted into acidic goo! When the unit with this ability is hit by melee attack, will do 2 damage to the attacker's Armor AND will also reduce the max Armor of the attacker by 2.

  • Flank - If the unit with this ability is in the first position, then the unit in the second position gains the Reach ability. Imagine the synergy created by this new ability, making the first two units work together to bring down the enemy tank

  • Lookout - Say Hello! to scouts that shield your support units! The card with this ability will help adjacent allies to take one less damage from Sneak, Snipe, and Opportunity attacks.

The Rebellion cards are also available in brawls, and can say that here they made a difference. I never been the top dog in my guild, except few good runs now and then. Last  time I smashed and crushed in my duels, winning six out of seven brawls, and now I won a game that was a draw!

Went to try a new summoner for a short battle! Only 15 mana pool for a duel that had Broken Arrows, Noxious Fumes and Explosive Weaponry in the mix. No ranged units to be used, everyone will be poisoned at the start of the battle, and every attack will blast into adjacent units... what a great way to go wild!

Reklah Kayen can give Reflection Shield to two friendly units or reduce by two the health of two enemies. He was once an overlord in the Belurocian military, commanding his army in countless campaigns during the time of the great wars. Now, Reklah Kayen serves the collective as a death knight, using his martial prowess and command of the death element to bring the Splinterlands ever closer to the Dark Eternity.

Reklah: -2 HP to two opponents

Cursed Windeku: Melee with Thornes

Riftwing: Flying with Scavenger

My opponent went for a Cursed Windeku as a tank and the Silent Sha-Vii as a sneaky attacker, a similar tactic to mine. Thaddeus Brood reduced my health by one, and Reklah reduced the health to both enemies by two! Looks fair so far!

My Windeku attacked his twin, blasting into the Silent Sha-vii and receiving Thornes damage. Then he was attacked by the evil-twin and was his turn to deal Thornes damage. The Sha-Vi sneaked upon the Riftwing and had a deep bite, blasting damage in the tank as well. Still an even battle at this point!

Another round of poison and the Riftwing went into the void. My enemy lost the Sha-vii and was all even between the Windeku twins. My one hit first, dealing a deadly blow... but fell from the Thornes damage. Sad draw in the game ... but somehow I was credited the win! Not that fair but I will gladly accept it. See the full battle here!
