Splinterlands keep raising the standards when it comes to blockchain gaming. The play2earn game on Hive keeps growing bigger and bigger with each expansion. The Rebellion went live at the start of December, with all the new cards available for play.

The pre-sale had an astonishing success, and the general sale follows the same pattern. Half million packs were sold already, with 50,846 bonus packs distributed. The standard price per pack was 5000 DEC, but I was able to spend VOUCHER tokens in order to receive a discount on the base price. Each VOUCHER token used reduced the price by 200 Credits / DEC and the maximum discount available using VOUCHER tokens will be 20%.

Each Rebellion pack contains five cards, with at least one guaranteed rare card. I am a poor battle mage, one of those that will pick small tasks for an extra coin, and all that I could afford during the pre-sale was two packs! I plan to buy more... but what to sell?

Timeline and achievements:

💥 All packs purchased during the presale can be opened

💥 All of the new cards and mechanics are already added to the game

💥 The Untamed set has been rotated out of Modern format

💥 The players are able to claim their rewards from the Rebellion presale.

💥 The general sale of Rebellion booster packs has begun.

💥 There will be a total of 9.5M Rebellion packs available during the general sale.

💥 Conflicts will go live soon, staking unopened Rebellion packs and cards to earn airdrop rewards.

You may ask what are this .... "conflicts"? The Splinterlands team revamped the old airdrop system to a new and improved mechanism where only eligible players will get airdrops. The new system was called conflicts, to vibe with the rebellion theme, and it will only count players who stake their packs.

It doesn't matter how many Rebellion packs a o player had bought, if they are not staked. Get your packs ready for staking, and those legendary cards. The new synergy will reward holders more than those who bought and sold the packs!

What to do while waiting for the Conflicts to open? Played in a tournament, and for the first time I qualified into the next round. I won all the games in round two, and started round three with a win. Unfortunately I lost the rest and I was out of the tournament.

The Rebellion set added four new unit abilities: Armored Strike, Corrosive Ward, Flank, and Lookout. he new abilities will enhance certain elements, making the team's synergy more... deadly!

  • Armored Strike - The units with this ability will gain an ADDITIONAL Melee attack using the Armor stats

  • Corrosive Ward - For me this is Acid Thornes and the nemesis to Repair! You can't Repair something that's been melted into acidic goo! When the unit with this ability is hit by melee attack, will do 2 damage to the attacker's Armor AND will also reduce the max Armor of the attacker by 2.

  • Flank - If the unit with this ability is in the first position, then the unit in the second position gains the Reach ability. Imagine the synergy created by this new ability, making the first two units work together to bring down the enemy tank

  • Lookout - Say Hello! to scouts that shield your support units! The card with this ability will help adjacent allies to take one less damage from Sneak, Snipe, and Opportunity attacks.

The Rebellion cards are also available in brawls, and can say that here they made a difference. I never been the top dog in my guild, except few good runs now and then. This time I smashed and crushed in my duels, winning six out of seven brawls.

I helped my guild to finish higher in the leaderboard, and we all received 323 merits and 13.73 SPS rewards. Time to play more battles and polish my new strategies.

What else? Just waiting for conflicts? No... I keep using the SPS I have, and the SPS I earn in brawls to vote on snapshots! This time I had to read and have a say in five proposals, most of them being clear.

However, the last one was so borderline that may vote maybe made a difference. Voted NO because it made more sense for me! Who knows!

This rebellion brings the best out of people, as the freedom fighters will fight for a cause that kept them going during the Chaos Legion reign. Taking sides is mandatory, as each will ponder their options.

Some will fight for hope, while others will fight to extinguish that glimmer of hope. The Taking Sides battle-rule excluded neutral cards from selection, leaving place for pure splinter teams.

Tarsa: +1 Melee & +1 Health

Forgotten One: Melee with Immunity

Fineas Rage: Melee with Reach

Ferox Defender: Melee with Protect

Lava Launcher: Ranged with Close Range

Djinn Inferni: Caster with Giant Killer

Tenyii Striker: Melee with Sneak

There was no clear synergy in my team, just strong units that could make a difference. The Forgotten One is a top tank, and his Immunity helped him to not lose one speed from the summoner's debuff.

Fineas would hit from behind, same as the Tenyii Sticker, while the Ferox Defender boosted everyone's armor. Who will make the difference today? I seen so many top cards on the other side of the battleground, such as the Void Dragon, Carnage Titan and the Chaos Dragon. I don't own any of those, but I seen them how deadly they can be... against my army!

Their destruction is amplified by Djinn Chwala, and the Thorns damage. Every single unit that hit the dragonkin tank got stung back with 2 melee damage, and even the Forgotten one forgotten about that. He hit and he died!

Fineas Rage had to step-up and become the leader the team needed, tanking against the monstrous Carnage Titan. This unit is scary... huge stats and double strike, with a speed that contradicts his massive structure.

I almost went in panic mode, but something made that spark of hope reignite. Djinn Inferni casted a fireball... and the Carnage Titan took 6 damage! This was the first time ever when I seen the Giant Killer ability triggering. The units with Giant Killer will do double damage against opponents that cost 10 or more mana... like David and Goliath.

The Carnage Titan is a giant in stats and in mana cost, therefore his 11-mana made him a target. Djinn Inferni 6-damage attack reduced the Titan to only two health, and set a bullseye on his back.

Tenyii Striker on a mission, finally dealing the deadly blow on the Naga Assassin. He missed his attack in the first round, and he had to end the job. Fineas Rage was the tank I needed, giving more time to the other units. Tank swap again, and the hope that the Ferox Defender will defend better.

Djinn Inferni is untamed, and no titan can match him. This dude will take on Thanos and will probably win! The Void Dragon took his place, and I started missing the attacks. This one not only has Flying, but his speed makes the miss chances even greater.

The next two rounds were random, with attacks going left and right... and me failing to target the Void Dragon. The Ferox Defender was defeated, but his sacrifice helped the Lava Launcher to spray from close distance. Void Dragon down!

The Firecaller set the trap, and the Lava Launcher fell into it. Martyr triggered and the Chaos Dragon got boosted for the end game. I was calculating the odds in my game, like Doctor Strange, and I was losing. But .... in those infinite scenarios... I forgot about... Giant Killer!

The Chaos Dragon is one of those units with a titanic mana cost, which led to double damage! Firebolt... 6 damage ... and game over! See the full battle here!
