The Splinterlands Battle Mage Secrets - Legionnarie Alvar Will Break Bones And Arrows Broken

0 47

Greetings Splinterlands Summoners! The classic weekly battle challenge retired to make way for the Battle Mage Secrets series, making it more entertaining. This new set-up adds a focus on dynamic strategies, as players will be able to choose from a greater selection of more diverse units to bring into battle.

Let's enjoy the Broken Arrows ruleset, where the units with ranged attacks cannot be used in battle. The units with two types of attack, which include ranged, cannot be used either. The tactic is clear, focusing on either melee or casters! The defense preparation should consider utilizing units with Thorns or Magic Reflect, or go for Demoralize and Void Armor. What's your pick?

The Rebellion has started and the Chaos Empire sent their elite fighting force to extinguish any glimmer of hopes.  The Shadow Snitches got some intel and the dragons will fly above to scorch anyone that may create trouble. Legionnaire Alvar was sent to prevent any form of rebellion, to torture and show everyone that Chaos cannot be replaced.

Alvar is ruthless warrior that reshaped his mind and his body until he had no equal on the battlefield. He is ready to shatter shields and break arrows, as his Void Armor will make the difference. He is probably one of the best tanks in the game, with 14 cumulated points of health and armor. He will gain Giant Killer at level two, Demoralize at level three and Deathblow at maximal level.

Legionnaire Alvar will break bones and arrows, sentencing to death anyone who will defy the Chaos Empire! There are two ways to prepare the battle, either against overpowered melee or against deadly spells. Alvar is a good option in both scenarios.

The 38-mana pool gave some freedom in team selection, and the two battle-rules made it easier. There will be no ranged units, and the Super-Sneak rule will favorize melee fighters more than spell-casters. So I decided to prepare for a bar brawl, with fists and broken chairs.

Kelya Frendul: +1 Speed & +1 Armor

Legionnaire Alvar: Melee Tank with Void Armor

Demented Shark: Melee with Inspire

Coastal Sentry: Melee with Double Strike

Serpent of Eld: Melee with Dodge

Hardy Stonefish: Melee

Albatross: Decoy with Flying

I wasn't sure what to expect, and I was relieved when I seen that Djinn Oshanus was the only caster in the opponent's team. The set-up was similar, with the Demented Shark inspiring the Coastal Sentry, and the Albatross used as a decoy.

You expect those flying pests to avoid some damage, but neither of them was able to dodge the attacks. We both lost our pesky bird, and the battle was moving into the next chapter. I lost my Hardy Stonefish just before the round ended, but at least the Serpent of Eld dodged an attack!

My concern was that the Diemonshark will start killing my units, and the Trample will do extra damage! The Coastal Sentry done the job and acted as an instant stress relief pill when she took down the demonic fish. Maybe was a smarter move if the Hardy Stonefish was shielding the Diemonshark as my one shielded the Serpent of Eld?

The "Hit and Miss" Festival started with the Serpent of Eld dodging one of the two attacks from the Coastal Sentry, and then with Legionnaire Alvar and his failed attack against Djinn Oshannus. Still time for another missed hit? The Serpent of Eld dodged his third attack during today's show, as he done an evasive maneuver when the Demented Shark tried to bite!

You know that the Chaos Empire twisted the mind of it's servants when Costal Sentry fights another Coastal Sentry. This time I was on the right side of the blade, as my nymph slashed twice against her own kind. Shark v Shark followed, plus a forth dodged attack by the Serpent of Eld!

What worked well so far? Alvar's Void Armor helped him to face the mighty Djinn Oshannus, and the Serpent of Eld dodged so many attacks that made the enemies lose their confidence.

Also the Coastal Sentry with extra melee damage was lethal, as that double strike was making sushi rolls out of sea creatures. Oshannus tried his best, dealing damage and avoiding some strikes, but couldn't avoid his demise! The Serpent of Eld took the glory... delivering the final blow! See the full battle here!

Legionnaire Alvar mission was successful, and his army was returning gloriously after defeating a small rebellion... before stepping into a trap. The ambush was been tactically prepared with a single goal... eliminate Alvar!

The battle was epic, with the Stampede and Broken Arrows battle-rules complementing each other. The ghost of the Diemonshark inspired this duel, as all monster gain Trample! Everyone will be able to attack perpetually, as long as they keeps killing their target. Still no rangers in this fight, as the archers were banned by the Chaos Empire for unknown reasons

Thaddius Brood: -1 Health & -1 Magic to enemy monsters

Legionnaire Alvar: Tank with Void Armor

Arachne Thug: Melee with Reach

Undead Rexx: Melee with crazy damage

Silent Sha-Vi: Melee with Sneak

Sand Work: Melee glass cannon

Magi Necrosi: Caster with Snipe and Camouflage

The first time I anticipated well a battle against melee units, therefore this time I prepared for magical powers. I was expecting casters and I had to fight against Thornes and Shields. The Disintegrator in the enemy's team was a best choice, reducing the melee power of six monsters.

Magi Necrosi was unaffected, and Thaddius Brood had his impact on the opponents! My tactic was anticipated well by my opponent, but I anticipated few casters as well. My summoner reduced the magic damage to three wizards and the health of everyone that opposed him! Alvar's Void Armor was ready to take  magical damage, and Djinn Chwala was ready to deal Thornes damage after every attack that will hit the target.

The whole round was a back-and-forwards grinding of armor, same as the second one. Legionnaire Alvar was a shield for his team, defending his army from countless spells... but forgetting about the Thornes. He delivered a strong blow against the Djinn, and Chwala retaliated with deadly thrones! The ambush was successful, as it targeted the leader!

The Arachne Thug was forced to tank, while the super-sneak attacks were now ready to target weaker units. The Shieldbearer was taken down, and the back line had no defense against Sneak and Snipe!

Havoc and carnage, as Magi Necorsi sent the Venari Spellsmith into the void. Djinn mayhem as well... as no web or strings could save the Arachne Thug from Chwala mace! A hungry beast was ready to rumble! The Undead Rexx waited patiently for his time to play, and jumped into action with a bite that destroyed the djinn's armor. The battle simplified by the Silent Sha-Vi, eliminating Djinn Renova and the bonus health buff.

Bloody magic! The Time Mage cheated for sure, travelling back in time and making the Sand Worm miss the attack. Takes time to do time spells, and the Time Mage hourglass was still empty when Magi Necorsi sniped him down! My monsters were back to full speed!

Was no stampede or trample, just a big prehistoric bite! The Undead Rexx chomped on the dragonkin djinn, and they both turned into dust. bones. The rebellion flame was extinguished, as the Disintegrator was disintegrated by the Chaos army! What worked well? Probably Alvar's void armor and Thaddius magical reduction made the tides turn in my favor! See the full battle here!
